Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it becommeth vpright men to be thankefull.
Entonnez, justes, des chants en l’honneur de l’Eternel: aux hommes droits il sied de louer Dieu!
2 Prayse the Lord with harpe: sing vnto him with viole and instrument of ten strings.
Rendez hommage à l’Eternel avec la harpe, célébrez-le par le luth à dix cordes.
3 Sing vnto him a newe song: sing cheerefully with a loude voyce.
Chantez-lui un cantique nouveau, faites résonner avec art vos instruments avec vos acclamations.
4 For the word of the Lord is righteous, and all his workes are faithfull.
Car droite est la parole de l’Eternel, toute son œuvre est marquée de loyauté.
5 He loueth righteousnesse and iudgement: the earth is full of the goodnesse of the Lord.
Il aime la justice et le bon droit; la terre est remplie de la bonté de l’Eternel.
6 By the worde of the Lord were the heauens made, and all the hoste of them by the breath of his mouth.
Par la parole de l’Eternel les cieux se sont formés, par le souffle de sa bouche, toutes leurs milices.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as vpon an heape, and layeth vp the depths in his treasures.
Il amoncelle comme une digue les eaux de la mer, il renferme dans des réservoirs les flots profonds.
8 Let all the earth feare the Lord: let al them that dwell in the world, feare him.
Que toute la terre craigne l’Eternel! Que tous les habitants du globe tremblent devant lui!
9 For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it stood.
Car il a parlé, et tout naquit; il a ordonné, et tout fut là.
10 The Lord breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.
L’Eternel renverse les projets des peuples, il fait échouer les desseins des nations.
11 The counsell of the Lord shall stand for euer, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.
Mais les décrets de l’Eternel subsistent à jamais, les résolutions de son cœur, de siècle en siècle.
12 Blessed is that nation, whose God is the Lord: euen the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.
Heureux le peuple qui reconnaît l’Eternel comme Dieu, la nation qu’il s’est choisie comme son héritage!
13 The Lord looketh downe from heauen, and beholdeth all the children of men.
Du haut des cieux, l’Eternel promène ses regards; il voit tous les fils de l’homme.
14 From the habitation of his dwelling he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.
De la résidence qu’il s’est réservée, il dirige son attention sur tous les habitants de la terre.
15 He facioneth their hearts euery one, and vnderstandeth all their workes.
Il a formé leur cœur à tous, et il observe tous leurs actes.
16 The King is not saued by the multitude of an hoste, neither is the mightie man deliuered by great strength.
Ce n’est pas avec une puissante armée que le roi remporte la victoire; ce n’est pas à sa grande force que le héros doit son salut.
17 A horse is a vaine helpe, and shall not deliuer any by his great strength.
Le coursier est d’un vain secours pour triompher, et sa grande vigueur n’assure pas le salut.
18 Beholde, the eye of the Lord is vpon them that feare him, and vpon them, that trust in his mercie,
Voici, les yeux du Seigneur sont ouverts sur ses adorateurs, sur ceux qui ont foi en sa bonté,
19 To deliuer their soules from death, and to preserue them in famine.
afin de sauver leur âme du trépas, et de les conserver en vie pendant la famine.
20 Our soule waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helpe and our shielde.
Notre âme met son attente en l’Eternel: il est notre aide et notre bouclier.
21 Surely our heart shall reioyce in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
Oui, notre cœur se réjouit en lui, oui, nous avons confiance en son saint nom.
22 Let thy mercie, O Lord, be vpon vs, as we trust in thee.
Que ta bonté, Eternel, s’étende sur nous, comme nous y comptons de ta part!
