Psalms 2
1 Why doe the heathen rage, and the people murmure in vaine?
Varför larma hedningarna och tänka folken fåfänglighet?
2 The Kings of the earth band themselues, and the princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
Jordens konungar resa sig upp, och furstarna rådslå med varandra, mot HERREN och hans smorde:
3 Let vs breake their bands, and cast their cordes from vs.
»Låt oss slita sönder deras bojor och kasta deras band ifrån oss.»
4 But he that dwelleth in the heauen, shall laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision.
Han som bor i himmelen ler, HERREN bespottar dem.
5 Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, and vexe them in his sore displeasure, saying,
Då talar han till dem i sin vrede, och i sin förgrymmelse förskräcker han dem:
6 Euen I haue set my King vpon Zion mine holy mountaine.
»Jag själv har insatt min konung på Sion, mitt heliga berg.»
7 I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.
Jag vill förtälja om vad beslutet är; HERREN sade till mig: »Du är min son, jag har i dag fött dig.
8 Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the endes of the earth for thy possession.
Begär av mig, så skall jag giva dig hedningarna till arvedel och jordens ändar till egendom.
9 Thou shalt krush them with a scepter of yron, and breake them in pieces like a potters vessell.
Du skall sönderslå dem med järnspira, såsom lerkärl skall du krossa dem.»
10 Be wise nowe therefore, ye Kings: be learned ye Iudges of the earth.
Så kommen nu till förstånd, I konungar; låten varna eder, I domare på jorden.
11 Serue the Lord in feare, and reioyce in trembling.
Tjänen HERREN med fruktan, och fröjden eder med bävan.
12 Kisse the sonne, least he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burne. blessed are all that trust in him.
Hyllen sonen, så att han icke vredgas och I förgåns på eder väg; ty snart kunde hans vrede upptändas. Saliga äro alla de som taga sin tillflykt till honom.
