Psalms 2
1 Why doe the heathen rage, and the people murmure in vaine?
Pourquoi cette rumeur dans les nations, et chez les peuples, ces complots inutiles,
2 The Kings of the earth band themselues, and the princes are assembled together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
cette levée des rois de la terre, et ces princes en conseil assemblés contre l'Éternel et contre son Oint?
3 Let vs breake their bands, and cast their cordes from vs.
« Rompons leurs fers, et secouons leurs chaînes! » [disent-ils.]
4 But he that dwelleth in the heauen, shall laugh: the Lord shall haue them in derision.
Sur son trône dans les Cieux Il se rit, le Seigneur se raille d'eux;
5 Then shall hee speake vnto them in his wrath, and vexe them in his sore displeasure, saying,
puis Il leur parle dans sa colère, et par son courroux Il les épouvante:
6 Euen I haue set my King vpon Zion mine holy mountaine.
« Moi-même j'ai oint mon Roi sur Sion, ma montagne sainte! »
7 I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.
– « Que je redise le décret! L'Éternel m'a dit: Tu es mon fils, en ce jour je t'ai engendré.
8 Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the endes of the earth for thy possession.
Demande-moi, et je te donnerai les nations en héritage, et en propriété les extrémités de la terre;
9 Thou shalt krush them with a scepter of yron, and breake them in pieces like a potters vessell.
tu les briseras d'un sceptre de fer, comme un vase de potier, tu les mettras en pièces. »
10 Be wise nowe therefore, ye Kings: be learned ye Iudges of the earth.
Maintenant, ô rois, devenez sages, soyez avertis, juges de la terre!
11 Serue the Lord in feare, and reioyce in trembling.
Soumettez-vous à l'Éternel avec crainte, soyez alarmés et tremblez!
12 Kisse the sonne, least he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burne. blessed are all that trust in him.
Embrassez le Fils, de peur qu'il ne s'irrite, et que vous ne vous perdiez en suivant votre voie. Car un instant encore, et sa colère s'allume. Heureux tous ceux qui mettent en lui leur confiance!
