Psalms 106
1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord because he is good, for his mercie endureth for euer.
Halleluja. Kiittäkäät Herraa! sillä hän on hyvä, ja hänen laupiutensa pysyy ijankaikkisesti.
2 Who can expresse the noble actes of the Lord, or shewe forth all his prayse?
Kuka taitaa puhua ulos Herran suurta voimaa, ja ylistää kaikkia hänen kiitettäviä tekojansa?
3 Blessed are they that keepe iudgement, and doe righteousnesse at all times.
Autuaat ovat, jotka käskyn pitävät ja aina vanhurskauden tekevät.
4 Remember me, O Lord, with the fauour of thy people: visite me with thy saluation,
Herra, muista minua armos perästä, jonkas kansalles luvannut olet: opi minua sinun autuudellas,
5 That I may see the felicitie of thy chosen, and reioyce in the ioy of thy people, and glorie with thine inheritance.
Että minä näkisin valittujes menestyksen, ja iloitsisin kansas ilossa, ja kerskaisin perimises kanssa.
6 We haue sinned with our fathers: we haue committed iniquitie, and done wickedly.
Me teimme syntiä meidän isäimme kanssa: me teimme väärin, ja olemme olleet jumalattomat.
7 Our fathers vnderstoode not thy wonders in Egypt, neither remembred they the multitude of thy mercies, but rebelled at the Sea, euen at the red sea.
Ei meidän isämme tahtoneet ymmärtää Egyptissä sinun ihmeitäs, eikä muistaneet sinun suurta laupiuttas, ja olivat meren tykönä tottelemattomat, Punaisen meren tykönä.
8 Neuerthelesse he saued them for his Names sake, that he might make his power to be knowen.
Kuitenkin autti hän heitä nimensä tähden, niin että hän voimansa osoitti.
9 And he rebuked the red Sea, and it was dryed vp, and he led them in the deepe, as in the wildernesse.
Ja hän uhkasi Punaista merta, niin se kuivui; ja vei heitä syvyyden lävitse, niinkuin korvessa,
10 And he saued them from ye aduersaries hand, and deliuered them from ye hand of the enemie.
Ja vapahti heitä niiden käsistä, joka heitä vihasivat, ja lunasti heitä vihollistensa käsistä.
11 And the waters couered their oppressours: not one of them was left.
Ja vedet peittivät heidän vainollisensa, niin ettei yksikään eläväksi jäänyt.
12 Then beleeued they his wordes, and sang prayse vnto him.
Silloin he uskoivat hänen sanansa, ja veisasivat hänen kiitoksensa.
13 But incontinently they forgate his workes: they wayted not for his counsell,
Mutta he unohtivat pian hänen työnsä, ja ei ottaneet hänen neuvoansa.
14 But lusted with concupiscence in the wildernes, and tempted God in the desert.
He kiehuivat himosta korvessa, ja kiusasivat Jumalaa erämaassa.
15 Then he gaue them their desire: but he sent leannesse into their soule.
Mutta hän antoi heille heidän anomisensa, ja lähetti heille laihuuden heidän himonsa tähden.
16 They enuied Moses also in the tentes, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
Ja he asettuivat Mosesta vastaan leirissä, Aaronia Herran pyhää vastaan.
17 Therefore the earth opened and swallowed vp Dathan, and couered the companie of Abiram.
Maa aukeni ja nieli Datanin, ja peitti Abiramin joukon,
18 And the fire was kindled in their assembly: the flame burnt vp the wicked.
Ja tuli syttyi heidän joukossansa, ja liekki poltti jumalattomat.
19 They made a calfe in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
He tekivät vasikan Horebissa, ja kumarsivat valettua kuvaa.
20 Thus they turned their glory into the similitude of a bullocke, that eateth grasse.
Ja he muuttelivat kunniansa härjän muotoon, joka heiniä syö.
21 They forgate God their Sauiour, which had done great things in Egypt,
He unohtivat Jumalan, vapahtajansa, joka oli niin suuria töitä tehnyt Egyptissä,
22 Wonderous woorkes in the lande of Ham, and fearefull things by the red Sea.
Ihmeitä Hamin maalla, ja peljättäviä töitä Punaisen meren tykönä.
23 Therefore he minded to destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stand in the breach before him to turne away his wrath, least he shoulde destroy them.
Ja hän sanoi heitä hukuttavansa, ellei Moses hänen valittunsa olisi seisonut siinä välissä, ja palauttanut hänen vihaansa, ettei hän ratki heitä kadottanut.
24 Also they contemned that pleasant land, and beleeued not his worde,
Ja he katsoivat sen ihanan maan ylön, eikä uskoneet hänen sanaansa,
25 But murmured in their tentes, and hearkened not vnto the voice of the Lord.
Ja napisivat majoissansa, eikä olleet kuuliaiset Herran äänelle.
26 Therefore hee lifted vp his hande against them, to destroy them in the wildernesse,
Ja hän nosti kätensä heitä vastaan, maahan lyödäksensä heitä korvessa,
27 And to destroy their seede among the nations, and to scatter them throughout the countries.
Ja heittääksensä heidän siemenensä pakanain sekaan, ja hajoittaaksensa heitä maakuntiin.
28 They ioyned themselues also vnto Baalpeor, and did eate the offrings of the dead.
Ja he ryhtyivät BaalPeoriin, ja söivät kuolleiden (epäjumalain) uhreista,
29 Thus they prouoked him vnto anger with their owne inuentions, and the plague brake in vpon them.
Ja vihoittivat hänen töillänsä; niin tuli myös rangaistus heidän sekaansa.
30 But Phinehas stoode vp, and executed iudgement, and the plague was staied.
Niin Pinehas astui edes, ja lepytti asian, ja rangaistus lakkasi.
31 And it was imputed vnto him for righteousnes from generation to generation for euer.
Ja se luettiin hänelle vanhurskaudeksi, suvusta sukuun ijankaikkisesti.
32 They angred him also at the waters of Meribah, so that Moses was punished for their sakes,
Ja vihoittivat hänen riitaveden tykönä ja tapahtui Mosekselle pahoin heidän tähtensä;
33 Because they vexed his spirite, so that hee spake vnaduisedly with his lippes.
Sillä he saattivat hänen sydämensä murheelliseksi, niin että hän sanoissansa eksyi.
34 Neither destroied they the people, as the Lord had commanded them,
Ei he hukuttaneet pakanoita, niinkuin Herra heille käskenyt oli,
35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their workes,
Vaan sekaantuivat pakanain sekaan, ja oppivat heidän töitänsä,
36 And serued their idoles, which were their ruine.
Ja palvelivat heidän epäjumaliansa; ja ne tulivat heille paulaksi.
37 Yea, they offered their sonnes, and their daughters vnto deuils,
Ja he uhrasivat poikansa ja tyttärensä perkeleille,
38 And shed innocent blood, euen the blood of their sonnes, and of their daughters, whome they offred vnto the idoles of Canaan, and the lande was defiled with blood.
Ja vuodattivat viattoman veren, poikainsa ja tyttäriensä veren, jotka he uhrasivat Kanaanealaisten epäjumalille, niin että maa veren vioilla turmeltiin,
39 Thus were they steined with their owne woorkes, and went a whoring with their owne inuentions.
Ja saastuttivat itsensä omissa töissänsä, ja tekivät huorin teoissansa.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he abhorred his owne inheritance.
Niin julmistui Herran viha kansansa päälle, ja hän kauhistui perimistänsä,
41 And hee gaue them into the hande of the heathen: and they that hated them, were lordes ouer them.
Ja hylkäsi ne pakanain käsiin, että ne vallitsivat heitä, jotka heitä vihasivat.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were humbled vnder their hand.
Ja heidän vihollisensa ahdistivat heitä, ja he painettiin heidän kätensä alle.
43 Many a time did hee deliuer them, but they prouoked him by their counsels: therefore they were brought downe by their iniquitie.
Hän monesti heitä pelasti; mutta he vihoittivat hänen neuvoillansa, ja he painettiin alas pahain tekoinsa tähden.
44 Yet hee sawe when they were in affliction, and he heard their crie.
Ja hän näki heidän tuskansa, kuin hän heidän valituksensa kuuli,
45 And he remembred his couenant towarde them and repented according to the multitude of his mercies,
Ja muisti liittonsa, jonka hän heidän kanssansa tehnyt oli, ja katui sitä suuresta laupiudestansa,
46 And gaue them fauour in the sight of all them that lead them captiues.
Ja antoi heidän löytää armon kaikkein edessä, jotka heitä vanginneet olivat.
47 Saue vs, O Lord our God, and gather vs from among the heathen, that we may praise thine holy Name, and glorie in thy praise.
Auta meitä, Herra meidän Jumalamme, ja kokoa meitä pakanoista, että kiittäisimme sinun pyhää nimeäs, ja kehuisimme sinun kiitostas.
48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for euer and euer, and let all the people say, So be it. Praise yee the Lord.
Kiitetty olkoon Herra Israelin Jumala, ijankaikkisuudesta niin ijankaikkisuuteen: ja sanokaan kaikki kansa: Amen, Halleluja!
