Proverbs 7
1 My sonne, keepe my wordes, and hide my commandements with thee.
Filho meu, guarda as minhas palavras, e esconde dentro de ti os meus mandamentos.
2 Keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue, and mine instruction as the apple of thine eyes.
Guarda os meus mandamentos, e vive; e a minha lei, como as meninas dos teus olhos.
3 Binde them vpon thy fingers, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
Ata-os aos teus dedos, escreve-os na táboa do teu coração.
4 Say vnto wisedome, Thou art my sister: and call vnderstanding thy kinswoman,
Dize à sabedoria, Tu és minha irmã; e à prudência chama parenta.
5 That they may keepe thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger that is smoothe in her wordes.
Para te guardarem da mulher alheia, da estrangeira, que lisongeia com as suas palavras.
6 As I was in the window of mine house, I looked through my windowe,
Porque da janela da minha casa, por minhas grades olhando eu,
7 And I sawe among the fooles, and considered among the children a yong man destitute of vnderstanding,
Vi entre os símplices, descobri entre os moços, um mancebo falto de juízo,
8 Who passed through the streete by her corner, and went toward her house,
Que passava pela rua junto à sua esquina, e seguia o caminho da sua casa;
9 In the twilight in the euening, when the night began to be blacke and darke.
No crepúsculo, à tarde do dia, na tenebrosa noite e na escuridão;
10 And beholde, there met him a woman with an harlots behauiour, and subtill in heart.
E eis que uma mulher lhe saiu ao encontro, com enfeites de prostituta, e astuta de coração:
11 (She is babling and loud: whose feete can not abide in her house.
Esta era alvoroçadora, e contenciosa; não paravam em sua casa os seus pés;
12 Nowe she is without, nowe in the streetes, and lyeth in waite at euery corner)
Agora por fora, depois pelas ruas, e espreitando por todos os cantos:
13 So she caught him and kissed him and with an impudent face said vnto him,
E pegou dele, e o beijou; esforçou o seu rosto, e disse-lhe:
14 I haue peace offerings: this day haue I payed my vowes.
Sacrifícios pacíficos tenho comigo; hoje paguei os meus votos.
15 Therefore came I forth to meete thee, that I might seeke thy face: and I haue found thee.
Por isto saí ao encontro a buscar diligentemente a tua face, e te achei.
16 I haue deckt my bed with ornaments, carpets and laces of Egypt.
Já cobri a minha cama com cobertas de tapeçaria, com obras lavradas com linho fino do Egito.
17 I haue perfumed my bedde with myrrhe, aloes, and cynamom.
Já perfumei o meu leito com mirra, aloes, e canela.
18 Come, let vs take our fill of loue vntill the morning: let vs take our pleasure in daliance.
Vem, saciemo-nos de amores até pela manhã: alegremo-nos com amores.
19 For mine husband is not at home: he is gone a iourney farre off.
Porque já o marido não está em sua casa: foi fazer uma jornada ao longe:
20 He hath taken with him a bagge of siluer, and will come home at the day appointed.
Um saquitel de dinheiro levou na sua mão: ao dia apontado virá a sua casa.
21 Thus with her great craft she caused him to yeelde, and with her flattering lips she entised him.
Seduziu-o com a multidão das suas palavras, com as lisonjas dos seus lábios o persuadiu.
22 And he followed her straight wayes, as an oxe that goeth to the slaughter, and as a foole to the stockes for correction,
Segue-a logo, como boi que vai ao matadouro, e como o louco ao castigo das prisões;
23 Till a dart strike through his liuer, as a bird hasteth to the snare, not knowing that he is in danger.
Até que a flecha lhe atravesse o fígado, como a ave que se apressa para o laço, e não sabe que está armado contra a sua vida.
24 Heare me now therefore, O children, and hearken to the wordes of my mouth.
Agora pois, filhos, dai-me ouvidos, e estai atentos às palavras da minha boca.
25 Let not thine heart decline to her wayes: wander thou not in her paths.
Não se desvie para os seus caminhos o teu coração, e não andes perdido nas suas veredas.
26 For shee hath caused many to fall downe wounded, and the strong men are all slaine by her.
Porque a muitos feridos derribou; e são muitíssimos os que por ela foram mortos.
