Proverbs 7
1 My sonne, keepe my wordes, and hide my commandements with thee.
Mon fils, retiens mes paroles, Et garde avec toi mes préceptes.
2 Keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue, and mine instruction as the apple of thine eyes.
Observe mes préceptes, et tu vivras; Garde mes enseignements comme la prunelle de tes yeux.
3 Binde them vpon thy fingers, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
Lie-les sur tes doigts, Écris-les sur la table de ton cœur.
4 Say vnto wisedome, Thou art my sister: and call vnderstanding thy kinswoman,
Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma sœur! Et appelle l’intelligence ton amie,
5 That they may keepe thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger that is smoothe in her wordes.
Pour qu’elles te préservent de la femme étrangère, De l’étrangère qui emploie des paroles doucereuses.
6 As I was in the window of mine house, I looked through my windowe,
J’étais à la fenêtre de ma maison, Et je regardais à travers mon treillis.
7 And I sawe among the fooles, and considered among the children a yong man destitute of vnderstanding,
J’aperçus parmi les stupides, Je remarquai parmi les jeunes gens un garçon dépourvu de sens.
8 Who passed through the streete by her corner, and went toward her house,
Il passait dans la rue, près de l’angle où se tenait une de ces étrangères, Et il se dirigeait lentement du côté de sa demeure:
9 In the twilight in the euening, when the night began to be blacke and darke.
C’était au crépuscule, pendant la soirée, Au milieu de la nuit et de l’obscurité.
10 And beholde, there met him a woman with an harlots behauiour, and subtill in heart.
Et voici, il fut abordé par une femme Ayant la mise d’une prostituée et la ruse dans le cœur.
11 (She is babling and loud: whose feete can not abide in her house.
Elle était bruyante et rétive; Ses pieds ne restaient point dans sa maison;
12 Nowe she is without, nowe in the streetes, and lyeth in waite at euery corner)
Tantôt dans la rue, tantôt sur les places, Et près de tous les angles, elle était aux aguets.
13 So she caught him and kissed him and with an impudent face said vnto him,
Elle le saisit et l’embrassa, Et d’un air effronté lui dit:
14 I haue peace offerings: this day haue I payed my vowes.
Je devais un sacrifice d’actions de grâces, Aujourd’hui j’ai accompli mes vœux.
15 Therefore came I forth to meete thee, that I might seeke thy face: and I haue found thee.
C’est pourquoi je suis sortie au-devant de toi Pour te chercher, et je t’ai trouvé.
16 I haue deckt my bed with ornaments, carpets and laces of Egypt.
J’ai orné mon lit de couvertures, De tapis de fil d’Égypte;
17 I haue perfumed my bedde with myrrhe, aloes, and cynamom.
J’ai parfumé ma couche De myrrhe, d’aloès et de cinnamome.
18 Come, let vs take our fill of loue vntill the morning: let vs take our pleasure in daliance.
Viens, enivrons-nous d’amour jusqu’au matin, Livrons-nous joyeusement à la volupté.
19 For mine husband is not at home: he is gone a iourney farre off.
Car mon mari n’est pas à la maison, Il est parti pour un voyage lointain;
20 He hath taken with him a bagge of siluer, and will come home at the day appointed.
Il a pris avec lui le sac de l’argent, Il ne reviendra à la maison qu’à la nouvelle lune.
21 Thus with her great craft she caused him to yeelde, and with her flattering lips she entised him.
Elle le séduisit à force de paroles, Elle l’entraîna par ses lèvres doucereuses.
22 And he followed her straight wayes, as an oxe that goeth to the slaughter, and as a foole to the stockes for correction,
Il se mit tout à coup à la suivre, Comme le bœuf qui va à la boucherie, Comme un fou qu’on lie pour le châtier,
23 Till a dart strike through his liuer, as a bird hasteth to the snare, not knowing that he is in danger.
Jusqu’à ce qu’une flèche lui perce le foie, Comme l’oiseau qui se précipite dans le filet, Sans savoir que c’est au prix de sa vie.
24 Heare me now therefore, O children, and hearken to the wordes of my mouth.
Et maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi, Et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche.
25 Let not thine heart decline to her wayes: wander thou not in her paths.
Que ton cœur ne se détourne pas vers les voies d’une telle femme, Ne t’égare pas dans ses sentiers.
26 For shee hath caused many to fall downe wounded, and the strong men are all slaine by her.
Car elle a fait tomber beaucoup de victimes, Et ils sont nombreux, tous ceux qu’elle a tués.
