Proverbs 5
1 My sonne, hearken vnto my wisedome, and incline thine eare vnto my knowledge.
Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse, et à ma prudence incline ton oreille,
2 That thou maiest regarde counsell, and thy lippes obserue knowledge.
Afin que tu veilles sur tes pensées, et que tes lèvres conservent la discipline. Prends garde à l’artifice fallacieux de la femme;
3 For the lippes of a strange woman drop as an honie combe, and her mouth is more soft then oyle.
Car c’est un rayon distillant le miel, que les lèvres d’une prostituée, et plus brillant que l’huile est son gosier;
4 But the end of her is bitter as wormewood, and sharpe as a two edged sworde.
Mais ses derniers moments sont amers comme l’absinthe, et perçants comme un glaive à deux tranchants.
Ses pieds descendent à la mort, et jusqu’aux enfers ses pas pénètrent. (Sheol h7585)
6 She weigheth not the way of life: her paths are moueable: thou canst not knowe them.
Ils ne marchent point par le sentier de la vie: ses pas sont incertains, et on ne peut les découvrir.
7 Heare yee me nowe therefore, O children, and depart not from the wordes of my mouth.
Maintenant donc, mon fils, écoute-moi, et ne t’écarte pas des paroles de ma bouche.
8 Keepe thy way farre from her, and come not neere the doore of her house,
Eloigne d’elle ta voie, et ne t’approche pas de la porte de sa maison.
9 Least thou giue thine honor vnto others, and thy yeeres to the cruell:
Ne donne pas à des étrangers ton honneur, et tes années à un cruel vengeur,
10 Least the stranger should be silled with thy strength, and thy labours bee in the house of a stranger,
De peur que des étrangers ne soient comblés de tes biens, et que tes travaux n’aillent dans la maison d’un autre,
11 And thou mourne at thine end, (when thou hast consumed thy flesh and thy bodie)
Et que tu ne gémisses à la fin, quand tu auras consumé tes chairs et ton corps; et que tu ne dises:
12 And say, How haue I hated instruction, and mine heart despised correction!
D’où vient que j’ai déteste la discipline, et qu’aux remontrances n’a pas acquiescé mon cœur,
13 And haue not obeied the voyce of them that taught mee, nor enclined mine eare to them that instructed me!
Et que je n’ai pas écouté la voix de ceux qui m’instruisaient, et qu’à mes maîtres je n’ai pas incliné mon oreille?
14 I was almost brought into all euil in ye mids of the Congregation and assemblie.
J’ai été presque dans toute sorte de maux au milieu de l’assemblée et de la réunion.
15 Drinke the water of thy cisterne, and of the riuers out of the middes of thine owne well.
Bois de l’eau de ta citerne, et de l’eau vive de ton puits:
16 Let thy fountaines flow foorth, and the riuers of waters in the streetes.
Que les cours de tes fontaines soient dirigés au dehors; et dans les rues partage tes eaux.
17 But let them bee thine, euen thine onely, and not the strangers with thee.
Possède-les seul, et que des étrangers n’y aient point de part avec toi.
18 Let thy fountaine be blessed, and reioyce with the wife of thy youth.
Que ta source soit bénie; et réjouis-toi avec la femme de ta jeunesse;
19 Let her be as the louing hinde and pleasant roe: let her brests satisfie thee at all times, and delite in her loue continually.
Qu’elle te soit une biche très chère, un très agréable faon; que ses charmes t’enivrent en tout temps; et que dans son amour soit toujours ta joie.
20 For why shouldest thou delite, my sonne, in a strange woman, or embrace the bosome of a stranger?
Pourquoi, mon fils, seras-tu séduit par une étrangère, et reposeras-tu dans le sein d’une autre?
21 For the waies of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his pathes.
Le Seigneur regarde les voies de l’homme, et il considère tous ses pas.
22 His owne iniquities shall take the wicked himselfe, and he shall be holden with the cordes of his owne sinne.
Ses iniquités saisissent l’impie, et par les liens de ses propres péchés, il est enchaîné.
23 Hee shall die for fault of instruction, and shall goe astray through his great follie.
Il mourra, parce qu’il n’a pas eu de discipline, et c’est par l’excès de sa folie qu’il sera trompé.
