Proverbs 4
1 Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
Oíd, hijos, las instrucciones de un padre; y prestad atención para aprender prudencia.
2 For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
Pues os enseño buena doctrina, no abandonéis mis lecciones.
3 For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
También yo fui hijo de mi padre, tierno y único ante mí madre.
4 When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
Él me enseñaba y me decía: Retenga tu corazón mis palabras; observa mis preceptos y vivirás.
5 Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
Adquiere la sabiduría, trata de alcanzar la inteligencia; no te olvides de ella, ni te apartes de los dichos de mi boca.
6 Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
No la dejes, y ella te guardará; ámala, y será tu defensa.
7 Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
He aquí el principio de la sabiduría: adquirir la sabiduría, y a trueque de todos tus bienes alcanzar la inteligencia.
8 Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
Tenla en gran estima, ella te ensalzará; te honrará cuando la estreches en tus brazos.
9 She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
Ornará tu cabeza con una corona de gracia, y te regalará una magnífica diadema.
10 Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
Escucha, hijo mío, y recibe mis palabras, para que se multipliquen los años de tu vida.
11 I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
Yo te enseño el camino de la sabiduría, te conduzco por los senderos de la rectitud.
12 Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
Andando por ellos no serán acechados tus pasos, y si corres no tropezarás.
13 Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
Atente a la instrucción, nunca la dejes; guárdala, porque es tu vida.
14 Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
No sigas los caminos de los impíos, no vayas por la ruta de los malvados.
15 Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
Esquívala, no pases por ella; apártate de allí y pasa adelante.
16 For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
Porque ellos no duermen, si antes no han hecho algún mal; no pueden conciliar el sueño, si no han hecho caer a otro.
17 For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
Comen el pan de la iniquidad, y beben el vino de la violencia.
18 But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
La senda de los justos es como la luz de la mañana, cuyo resplandor crece hasta ser pleno día.
19 The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
El camino de los malos, en cambio, es como tinieblas; no saben en qué van a tropezar.
20 My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
Hijo mío, presta atención a mis palabras, inclina tus oídos a mis enseñanzas;
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
no se aparten de tus ojos; guárdalas en lo íntimo de tu corazón.
22 For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
Son vida para quien las halla, salud para todo su cuerpo.
23 Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
Ante toda cosa guardada guarda tu corazón; porque de él mana la vida.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
Evita la perversidad de la lengua, y aleja de ti la maledicencia en el hablar.
25 Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
Miren de frente tus ojos, y tus párpados diríjanse a los pasos que des.
26 Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
Examina los pasos de tu pie y sean rectos todos tus caminos.
27 Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
No declines ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, y aparta tu pie del mal.
