Proverbs 4
1 Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
Ouvi, filhos, a correcção do pae, e estae attentos para conhecerdes a prudencia.
2 For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
Pois dou-vos boa doutrina: não deixeis a minha lei.
3 For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
Porque eu era filho de meu pae: tenro, e unico diante de minha mãe.
4 When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
E elle ensinava-me, e dizia-me: Retenha as minhas palavras o teu coração: guarda os meus mandamentos, e vive.
5 Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
Adquire a sabedoria, adquire a intelligencia, e não te esqueças nem te apartes das palavras da minha bocca.
6 Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
Não a desampares, e ella te guardará: ama-a, e ella se te conservará.
7 Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
O principio da sabedoria é adquirir a sabedoria: adquire pois a sabedoria, e com toda a tua possessão adquire o entendimento.
8 Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
Exalta-a, e ella te exaltará; e, abraçando-a tu, ella te honrará.
9 She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
Dará á tua cabeça um diadema de graça e uma corôa de gloria te entregará.
10 Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
Ouve, filho meu, e acceita as minhas palavras, e se te multiplicarão os annos de vida.
11 I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
No caminho da sabedoria te ensinei, e pelas carreiras direitas te fiz andar.
12 Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
Por ellas andando, não se estreitarão os teus passos; e, se correres, não tropeçarás.
13 Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
Pega-te á correcção e não a largues: guarda-a, porque ella é a tua vida
14 Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
Não entres na vereda dos impios, nem andes pelo caminho dos maus.
15 Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
Rejeita-o; não passes por elle: desvia-te d'elle e passa de largo.
16 For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
Pois não dormem, se não fizerem mal, e foge d'elles o somno se não fizerem tropeçar alguem.
17 For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
Porque comem o pão da impiedade, e bebem o vinho das violencias.
18 But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
Porém a vereda dos justos é como a luz resplandecente que vae adiante e alumia até ao dia perfeito.
19 The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
O caminho dos impios é como a escuridão: nem sabem em que tropeçarão.
20 My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
Filho meu, attenta para as minhas palavras: ás minhas razões inclina o teu ouvido.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
Não as deixes apartar-se dos teus olhos: guarda-as no meio do teu coração.
22 For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
Porque são vida para os que as acham, e saude para todo o seu corpo.
23 Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
Sobre tudo o que se deve guardar, guarda o teu coração, porque d'elle procedem as saidas da vida.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
Desvia de ti a tortuosidade da bocca, e alonga de ti a perversidade dos beiços.
25 Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
Os teus olhos olhem direitos, e as tuas palpebras olhem directamente diante de ti.
26 Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
Pondera a vereda de teus pés, e todos os teus caminhos sejam bem ordenados!
27 Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
Não declines nem para a direita nem para a esquerda: retira o teu pé do mal.
