Proverbs 3
1 My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.
Con ơi, đừng quên lời ta dạy. Nhưng giữ những mệnh lệnh ta trong lòng con.
2 For they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.
Nếu con làm vậy, con sẽ được gia tăng tuổi thọ, và cho đời sống con thịnh vượng.
3 Let not mercie and trueth forsake thee: binde them on thy necke, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
Đừng để nhân từ, chân thật xa lìa con! Hãy đeo vào cổ để nhắc nhớ. Hãy ghi sâu vào lòng mình.
4 So shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.
Như thế, trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời và loài người, con được ân huệ và sự hiểu biết chính đáng.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.
Hãy hết lòng tin cậy Chúa Hằng Hữu; đừng nương vào sự hiểu biết của riêng con.
6 In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.
Trong các việc làm của con, hãy cầu xin Ngài, và Ngài sẽ hướng dẫn con trong các nẻo con đi.
7 Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
Đừng khôn ngoan theo mắt mình. Hãy kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, xa lánh điều ác.
8 So health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.
Như thế, thân xác con sẽ mạnh khỏe và xương con được cứng cáp.
9 Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.
Hãy dùng tài sản và hoa lợi đầu mùa mà tôn vinh Chúa Hằng Hữu.
10 So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.
Như thế, kho thóc con đầy dẫy, thùng chứa rượu mới tràn đầy.
11 My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.
Con ơi, đừng coi thường sự sửa phạt của Chúa Hằng Hữu, đừng bực mình khi Ngài trừng trị.
12 For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.
Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu sửa dạy người Ngài yêu, như cha đối với con yêu dấu.
13 Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
Phước cho người tìm được khôn ngoan, vì nhận được sự thông sáng.
14 For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.
Vì được nó có ích hơn được bạc, và sinh lợi hơn vàng.
15 It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.
Khôn ngoan quý hơn hồng ngọc; không có gì con ao ước sánh kịp.
16 Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
Tay phải của khôn ngoan có trường thọ, còn tay trái có giàu sang và vinh dự.
17 Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.
Các đường của khôn ngoan đều thích thú; mọi nẻo của nó đều an vui.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.
Nó là cây vĩnh sinh cho người nắm lấy; và hạnh phúc cho ai giữ chặt.
19 The Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.
Chúa Hằng Hữu do khôn ngoan sáng tạo đất; và do thông sáng thiết lập trời.
20 By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.
Do tri thức Ngài, biển sâu mở toang, và mây đọng thành sương.
21 My sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.
Con ơi, hãy giữ khôn ngoan thật và thận trọng. Đừng để nó xa tầm mắt con.
22 So they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.
Nó là sức sống trong tâm hồn, là trang sức duyên dáng nơi cổ con.
23 Then shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.
Nhờ đó, con tiến bước an toàn, chân con không vấp ngã.
24 If thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.
Khi nằm, con không phải lo lắng, vừa ngã lưng, con đã ngon giấc.
25 Thou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.
Khi thấy người ác gặp tai họa hay hủy diệt bất ngờ, con không hoang mang lo sợ,
26 For the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.
vì Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đấng con tin cậy. Ngài sẽ giữ chân con khỏi cạm bẫy.
27 Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.
Đừng từ chối làm lành cho người xứng đáng khi con có năng lực làm việc ấy.
28 Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.
Nếu hiện tại con có thể giúp người láng giềng, thì đừng nói: “Ngày mai hãy trở lại, tôi sẽ giúp anh.”
29 Intend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.
Đừng mưu đồ ám hại láng giềng, vì họ vẫn có lòng tin cậy nơi con.
30 Striue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.
Đừng vô cớ cáo tội ai, khi người ấy không gây cho con thiệt hại.
31 Bee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.
Đừng thèm muốn địa vị người dữ dằn, cũng đừng bước theo con đường họ đi.
32 For the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu ghét người hư hoại, nhưng thổ lộ tâm tình với ai ngay lành.
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
Chúa Hằng Hữu nguyền rủa nhà của người ác, nhưng đổ phước lành trên nhà người công chính.
34 With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.
Chúa Hằng Hữu cười chê người kiêu căng báng bổ, nhưng ban ơn phước trên người khiêm nhu.
35 The wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
Vinh dự là gia tài Chúa dành cho người khôn, còn xấu hổ nhuốc nhơ là phần của người dại dột.
