Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thy selfe of to morowe: for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Nu te făli cu ziua de mâine, fiindcă nu știi ce poate aduce o zi.
2 Let another man prayse thee, and not thine owne mouth: a stranger, and not thine owne lips.
Altul să te laude și nu gura ta; un străin și nu buzele tale.
3 A stone is heauie, and the sand weightie: but a fooles wrath is heauier then them both.
O piatră este grea și nisipul este greu, dar furia nebunului este mai grea decât amândouă.
4 Anger is cruell, and wrath is raging: but who can stand before enuie?
Furia este crudă și mânia cumplită, dar cine este în stare să stea în picioare în fața invidiei?
5 Open rebuke is better then secret loue.
Mustrarea pe față este mai bună decât iubirea tainică.
6 The wounds of a louer are faithful, and the kisses of an enemie are pleasant.
Credincioase sunt rănile unui prieten, dar sărutările unui dușman sunt înșelătoare.
7 The person that is full, despiseth an hony combe: but vnto the hungry soule euery bitter thing is sweete.
Sufletul sătul se scârbește de un fagure, dar pentru sufletul flămând fiecare lucru amar este dulce.
8 As a bird that wandreth from her nest, so is a man that wandreth from his owne place.
Precum o pasăre ce rătăcește de la cuibul ei, așa este un om ce rătăcește de la locul lui.
9 As oyntment and perfume reioyce the heart, so doeth the sweetenes of a mans friend by hearty counsell.
Untdelemnul și parfumul bucură inima; așa face dulceața prietenului unui om prin sfat inimos.
10 Thine owne friend and thy fathers friend forsake thou not: neither enter into thy brothers house in the day of thy calamitie: for better is a neighbour that is neere, then a brother farre off.
Nu părăsi pe prietenul tău și nici pe prietenul tatălui tău; nici nu intra în casa fratelui tău în ziua nenorocirii tale; fiindcă mai bun este un vecin aproape, decât un frate îndepărtat.
11 My sonne, be wise, and reioyce mine heart, that I may answere him that reprocheth me.
Fiul meu, fii înțelept și înveselește-mi inima, ca să răspund celui ce mă ocărăște.
12 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
Un om chibzuit prevede răul și se ascunde, dar simplii merg înainte și sunt pedepsiți.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and a pledge of him for the stranger.
Ia-i haina celui care este garant pentru un străin; și ia o garanție de la el pentru o femeie străină.
14 He that prayseth his friend with a loude voyce, rising earely in the morning, it shall be counted to him as a curse.
Cel ce binecuvântează pe prietenul său cu voce tare, sculându-se devreme de dimineață, aceasta i se va considera un blestem.
15 A continual dropping in the day of raine, and a contentious woman are alike.
O picurare neîncetată într-o zi foarte ploioasă și o femeie certăreață sunt la fel.
16 He that hideth her, hideth the winde, and she is as ye oyle in his right hand, that vttereth it selfe.
Oricine o ascunde, ascunde vântul și untdelemnul din mâna lui dreaptă, care se trădează.
17 Yron sharpeneth yron, so doeth man sharpen the face of his friend.
Fier ascute fier; tot așa un om ascute înfățișarea prietenului său.
18 He that keepeth the fig tree, shall eate the fruite thereof: so he that waiteth vpon his master, shall come to honour.
Oricine ține smochinul va mânca din rodul lui; tot așa cel ce îngrijește pe stăpânul său va fi onorat.
19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
Precum în apă, fața răspunde feței, tot așa inima omului răspunde omului.
20 The graue and destruction can neuer be full, so the eyes of man can neuer be satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
Iadul și nimicirea nu sunt pline niciodată; tot așa, ochii omului nu sunt săturați niciodată. (Sheol h7585)
21 As is the fining pot for siluer and the fornace for golde, so is euery man according to his dignitie.
Precum creuzetul pentru argint și cuptorul pentru aur, așa este un om, laudei sale.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a foole in a morter among wheate brayed with a pestell, yet will not his foolishnes depart from him.
Chiar dacă ai pisa un nebun în piuă printre grăunțe cu un pisălog, totuși nechibzuința lui nu se va depărta de el.
23 Be diligent to know ye state of thy flocke, and take heede to the heardes.
Fii atent ca să cunoști starea turmelor tale și privește bine cirezile tale.
24 For riches remaine not alway, nor the crowne from generation to generation.
Deoarece bogățiile nu sunt pentru totdeauna; și coroana durează din generație în generație?
25 The hey discouereth it selfe, and the grasse appeareth, and the herbes of the mountaines are gathered.
Fânul se arată și iarba nouă apare și ierburile munților sunt strânse.
26 The lambes are for thy clothing, and the goates are the price of the fielde.
Mieii sunt pentru îmbrăcămintea ta și caprele sunt prețul câmpului.
27 And let the milke of the goates be sufficient for thy foode, for the foode of thy familie, and for the sustenance of thy maydes.
Și vei avea destul lapte de capră pentru mâncarea ta, pentru mâncarea casei tale și pentru întreținerea servitoarelor tale.
