Proverbs 25
1 THESE ARE ALSO PARABLES of Salomon, which the men of Hezekiah King of Iudah copied out.
Men kèk lòt pwovèb wa Salomon. Se moun nan palè Ezekyas, wa peyi Jida a, ki te kouche yo sou papye.
2 The glorie of God is to conceale a thing secret: but the Kings honour is to search out a thing.
Bondye konnen lè pou l' kite nou konprann, se sa ki fè pouvwa li. Wa yo toujou ap chache konprann, se sa ki fè moun respekte yo.
3 The heaues in height, and the earth in deepenes, and the Kings heart can no man search out.
Menm jan ou pa konnen wotè syèl la ak fondè tè a, se konsa tou ou pa ka konnen sa k'ap pase nan tèt yon wa.
4 Take the drosse from the siluer, and there shall proceede a vessell for the finer.
Wete tout vye kras ki nan ajan an. Efèv la ap ba ou yon bèl travay byen fèt.
5 Take away the wicked from the King, and his throne shall be stablished in righteousnes.
Wete tout mechan bò kote wa a, gouvènman l' lan ap chita byen chita. p'ap gen lenjistis.
6 Boast not thy selfe before the King, and stand not in the place of great men.
Pa fè grandizè devan wa a. Pa chita nan plas grannèg yo.
7 For it is better, that it be saide vnto thee, Come vp hither, then thou to be put lower in the presece of the prince whom thine eyes haue seene.
Pito yo di ou moute pi wo, pase pou yo fè ou bay plas la, pou ou ta wont devan chèf la.
8 Goe not foorth hastily to strife, least thou know not what to doe in the ende thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.
Sa ou wè ak je ou, pa prese al rapòte l' lajistis. Si apre sa, yon lòt temwen kanpe pou demanti ou, lè sa a kisa ou va fè?
9 Debate thy matter with thy neighbour, and discouer not the secret to another,
Lè ou gen kont ak yon moun, regle zafè nou san nou pa mete lòt moun ladan li. Pa mete sekrè l' deyò.
10 Least he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamie doe not cease.
Paske, lè moun konnen ou pa ka kenbe sekrè, y'a fè ou wont. Y'a ba ou move non.
11 A word spoken in his place, is like apples of golde with pictures of siluer.
Lè ou bay bon pawòl ki tonbe daplon se tankou yon moso lò byen travay yo plake sou yon moso ajan.
12 He that reprooueth the wise, and the obedient eare, is as a golden earering and an ornament of fine golde.
Lè yon moun ki gen bon konprann rale zòrèy moun ki gen tande, se tankou zanno ak kolye ki fèt ak bon lò ou mete sou ou.
13 As the colde of the snowe in the time of haruest, so is a faithfull messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soule of his masters.
Yon komisyonè ki p'ap twonpe moun ki voye l' la, se tankou yon bon vè dlo byen fre w'ap bwè nan mitan chalè rekòt. L'ap remoute kouraj mèt li.
14 A man that boasteth of false liberalitie, is like cloudes and winde without raine.
Moun ki toujou ap pwomèt san yo pa janm kenbe pwomès yo, se tankou nwaj ak van ki pa janm pote lapli.
15 A Prince is pacified by staying of anger, and a soft tongue breaketh the bones.
Lè ou pa fè kòlè fasil, ou jwenn jwen pou fè chèf la kwè sa ou vle. Konsa tou, ak pawòl dous, w'ap kraze tout antrav ou ta ka jwenn sou chemen ou.
16 If thou haue found hony, eate that is sufficient for thee, least thou be ouerfull, and vomit it.
Lè ou jwenn siwo myèl, bwè kantite ou ka bwè. Si ou pran twòp, l'a fè kè ou plen, l'a fè ou vonmi.
17 Withdrawe thy foote from thy neighbours house, least he be weary of thee, and hate thee.
Konsa tou, pa al rann vizit twò dri lakay zanmi ou, pou li pa bouke avè ou, pou l' pa rayi ou.
18 A man that beareth false witnes against his neighbour, is like an hammer and a sword, and a sharpe arrowe.
Yon moun k'ap mache bay manti sou moun, se tankou yon makak chaplèt, yon nepe, yon flèch byen pwenti. Li ka touye ou.
19 Confidence in an vnfaythfull man in time of trouble, is like a broken tooth and a sliding foote.
Jou malè, si ou mete konfyans ou sou moun trèt, se tankou si ou vle mòde ak dan pouri, osinon kouri sou pye foule.
20 Hee that taketh away the garment in the colde season, is like vineger powred vpon nitre, or like him that singeth songs to an heauy heart.
Chante mereng pou yon moun ki nan lapenn, se tankou moun ki wete tout rad sou li nan fredi, se tankou si ou prije sitwon sou yon malenng.
21 If hee that hateth thee be hungry, giue him bread to eate, and if he be thirstie, giue him water to drinke.
Si lènmi ou grangou, ba li manje. Si li swaf dlo, ba li dlo pou l' bwè.
22 For thou shalt lay coles vpon his head, and the Lord shall recompense thee.
Lè sa a, w'a fè l' wont anpil. Seyè a va rekonpanse ou.
23 As the Northwinde driueth away the raine, so doeth an angry countenance the slandering tongue.
Tripotaj fè moun fè kòlè, menm jan nòde bay lapli.
24 It is better to dwell in a corner of the house top, then with a contentious woman in a wide house.
Pito ou viv pou kont ou nan yon kwen galata pase pou w'ap viv nan yon kay ansanm ak yon fanm k'ap chache kont tout tan.
25 As are the colde waters to a weary soule, so is good newes from a farre countery.
Lè ou resevwa yon bon nouvèl ki soti nan peyi Jida, se tankou yon vè dlo fre pou yon moun ki sot moute mòn.
26 A righteous man falling downe before the wicked, is like a troubled well, and a corrupt spring.
Lè yon moun ki mache dwat kite yon mechan pran tèt li, se tankou yon sous dlo moun mache ladan l', se tankou yon pi yo sal.
27 It is not good to eate much hony: so to search their owne glory is not glory.
Twòp siwo myèl pa bon pou lasante. Konsa tou, pa chache pou moun nonmen non ou twòp.
28 A man that refraineth not his appetite, is like a citie which is broken downe and without walles.
Si ou pa kapab kontwole kòlè ou, ou tankou yon lavil san ranpa. Y'ap anvayi l' fasil. Y'ap mete men sou ou fasil.
