Proverbs 22
1 A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
Rykte är kosteligare än stor rikedom; och ynnest bättre än silfver och guld.
2 The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
Rike och fattige måste vara ibland hvarannan; Herren hafver gjort dem alla.
3 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
Den kloke ser det onda, och tager sig vara; de oförnuftige löpa igenom, och få skada.
4 The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
Der man lider i Herrans fruktan, der är rikedom, ära och lif.
5 Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
Spjut och snaror äro på dens vrångas väg; men den som drager sig der långt ifrå, han bevarar sitt lif.
6 Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
Såsom man vän ett barn, så låter det icke af, då det gammalt varder.
7 The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
Den rike råder öfver de fattiga, och den som borgar, han är hans träl som lånar.
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
Den som orätt sår, han skall uppskära vedermödo, och skall igenom sins ondskos ris förgås.
9 He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
Ett mildt öga varder välsignadt; ty han gifver af sitt bröd dem fattiga.
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
Drif ut bespottaren, så kommer kifvet bort; så vänder igen träta och smälek.
11 Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
Den som ett trofast hjerta hafver, och täckeliga talar, hans vän är Konungen.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
Herrans ögon bevara godt råd; men föraktarens ord omstörter han.
13 The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
Den late säger: Ett lejon är ute; jag måtte varda dräpen på gatone.
14 The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
Ens skökos mun är en djup grop; dem Herren ogunstig är, han faller deruti.
15 Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
Galenskap är i piltens hjerta; men tuktans ris drifver den långt ifrå honom.
16 Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
Den som den fattiga orätt gör, på det hans gods må mycket varda, han skall ock gifva enom rikom, och fattig varda.
17 Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
Böj din öron, och hör de visas ord, och lägg uppå hjertat mina läro.
18 For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
Ty det skall väl bekomma dig, om du dem när dig behåller; och de skola tillsammans genom din mun väl lyckas.
19 That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
Att ditt hopp skall vara intill Herran, måste jag dig om sådant dagliga förmana.
20 Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
Hafver jag icke margfaldeliga skrifvit dig före, med råd och läro;
21 That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
På det jag skulle visa dig en vissan grund till sanningena, att du måtte kunna rätteliga svara dem som dig sända?
22 Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
Beröfva icke den fattiga, ändock han fattig är; och undertryck icke den elända i portenom.
23 For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
Ty Herren skall handla deras sak, och skall förtrycka deras förtryckare.
24 Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
Gif dig icke i sällskap med en vredsam man, och håll dig icke intill en grym man;
25 Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
Att du tilläfventyrs icke lärer hans väg, och får dine själs förargelse.
26 Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
Var icke när dem som sina hand förpligta, och för skuld i borgan gå.
27 If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
Ty om du icke hafver till att betala, så tager man dina säng bort under dig.
28 Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
För icke tillbaka de förra råmärke, som dine fäder gjort hafva.
29 Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.
Ser du en man endigan i sin ärende, han skall stå för Konungenom; och skall icke stå för de oädla.
