Proverbs 22
1 A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
De más estima es la buena fama que las muchas riquezas; y la buena gracia, que la plata y que el oro.
2 The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
El rico y el pobre se encontraron: a todos ellos hizo Jehová.
3 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
El avisado ve el mal, y escóndese: mas los simples pasan, y reciben el daño.
4 The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
El salario de la humildad y del temor de Jehová, son riquezas, y honra, y vida.
5 Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
Espinas y lazos hay en el camino del perverso: el que guarda su alma se alejará de ellos.
6 Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
Instruye al niño en su carrera: aun cuando fuere viejo no se apartará de ella.
7 The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
El rico se enseñoreará de los pobres; y el que toma emprestado es siervo del que empresta.
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
El que sembrare iniquidad, iniquidad segará; y la vara de su ira se acabará.
9 He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
El ojo misericordioso será bendito; porque dio de su pan al menesteroso.
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
Echa al burlador, y saldrá la contienda; y cesará el pleito, y la vergüenza.
11 Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
El que ama la limpieza de corazón, y la gracia de sus labios, su compañero será el rey.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
Los ojos de Jehová miran por la ciencia; y las cosas del prevaricador pervierte.
13 The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
Dice el perezoso: El león está fuera: en mitad de las calles seré muerto.
14 The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
Sima profunda es la boca de las mujeres extrañas: aquel contra el cual Jehová tuviere ira, caerá en ella.
15 Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
La insensatez está ligada en el corazón del muchacho: mas la vara de la corrección la hará alejar de él.
16 Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
El que oprime al pobre para aumentarse él, y el que da al rico, ciertamente será pobre.
17 Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
Inclina tu oído, y oye las palabras de los sabios, y pon tu corazón a mi sabiduría:
18 For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
Porque es cosa deleitable, si las guardares en tus entrañas; y que juntamente sean ordenadas en tus labios.
19 That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
Para que tu confianza esté en Jehová, te las he hecho saber hoy a ti también.
20 Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
¿No te he escrito tres veces en consejos y ciencia;
21 That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
Para hacerte saber la certidumbre de las razones verdaderas; para que respondas razones de verdad a los que enviaren a ti?
22 Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
No robes al pobre, porque es pobre: ni quebrantes en la puerta al afligido:
23 For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
Porque Jehová juzgará la causa de ellos; y robará su alma a los que los robaren.
24 Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
No te entremetas con el iracundo: ni te acompañes con el hombre enojoso.
25 Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
Porque no aprendas sus veredas, y tomes lazo para tu alma.
26 Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
No estés entre los que tocan la mano: entre los que fian por deudas.
27 If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
Si no tuvieres para pagar: ¿por qué quitarán tu cama de debajo de ti?
28 Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
No traspases el término antiguo que hicieron tus padres.
29 Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.
¿Has visto hombre solícito en su obra? delante de los reyes estará: no estará delante de los de baja suerte.
