Proverbs 22
1 A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
É preferível ter um [bom] nome do que muitas riquezas; e ser favorecido é melhor que a prata e o o ouro.
2 The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
O rico e o pobre se encontram; todos eles foram feitos pelo SENHOR.
3 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
O prudente vê o mal, e se esconde; mas os ingênuos passam e sofrem as consequências.
4 The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
A recompensa da humildade [e do] temor ao SENHOR são riquezas, honra, e vida.
5 Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
[Há] espinhos e ciladas no caminho do perverso; quem cuida de sua alma deve ficar longe de [tal caminho].
6 Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
Instrui ao menino em seu caminho, e até quando envelhecer, não se desviará dele.
7 The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
O rico domina sobre os pobres, e quem toma emprestado é servo daquele que empresta.
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
Aquele que semeia perversidade colherá sofrimento; e a vara de sua ira se acabará.
9 He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
Quem tem olhos bondosos será abençoado, porque deu de seu pão ao pobre.
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
Expulsa ao zombador, e a briga terminará; cessará a disputa e a vergonha.
11 Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
Quem ama a pureza do coração [fala] graciosamente com os lábios, [e] o rei [será] seu amigo.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
Os olhos do SENHOR protegem o conhecimento; porém ele transtornará as palavras do enganador.
13 The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
O preguiçoso diz: Há um leão lá fora! Ele me matará nas ruas!
14 The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
A boca da mulher pervertida é uma cova profunda; aquele contra quem o SENHOR se irar cairá nela.
15 Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
A tolice está amarrada ao coração do menino; [mas] a vara da correção a mandará para longe dele.
16 Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
Aquele que oprime ao pobre para proveito próprio e aquele que dá [suborno] ao rico certamente empobrecerão.
17 Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
Inclina o teu ouvido e escuta as palavras dos sábios; dispõe teu coração ao meu conhecimento;
18 For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
porque é agradável que as guardes dentro de ti, e estejam prontas para os teus lábios;
19 That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
para que tua confiança esteja no SENHOR, eu as ensino a ti hoje.
20 Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
Por acaso não te escrevi excelentes coisas sobre o conselho e o conhecimento,
21 That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
para te ensinar a certeza das palavras da verdade, para que possas responder palavras de verdade aos que te enviarem?
22 Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
Não roubes ao pobre, porque ele é pobre; nem oprimas ao aflito junto à porta do julgamento.
23 For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
Porque o SENHOR defenderá a causa deles em juízo, e quanto aos que os roubam, ele lhes roubará a alma.
24 Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
Não seja companheiro de quem se irrita facilmente, nem andes com o homem furioso,
25 Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
Para que não aprendas o caminho dele, e te ponhas em armadilhas para tua alma.
26 Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
Não estejas entre os que se comprometem em acordos com as mãos, [ou] os que ficam por fiadores de dívidas.
27 If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
Se não tens como pagar, por que razão tirariam tua cama debaixo de ti?
28 Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
Não mudes os limites antigos que teus pais fizeram.
29 Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.
Viste um homem habilidoso em sua obra? Perante a face dos reis ele será posto; ele não será posto diante de pessoas sem honra.
