Proverbs 22
1 A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
੧ਵੱਡੇ ਧਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਨੇਕਨਾਮੀ ਚੁਣਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ।
2 The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
੨ਧਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੈ।
3 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
੩ਸਿਆਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਲੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭੋਲੇ ਅਗਾਹਾਂ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
4 The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
੪ਨਮਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਧਨ, ਆਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ।
5 Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
੫ਟੇਢਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
6 Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
੬ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੀ ਨਾ ਹਟੇਗਾ।
7 The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
੭ਧਨਵਾਨ ਕੰਗਾਲਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਧਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਧਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਢੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਲਾਠੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
9 He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
੯ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
੧੦ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਝਗੜਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਨਾਲੇ ਬਹਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
11 Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
੧੧ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲ ਦਯਾਵਾਨ ਹਨ, ਰਾਜਾ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
12 The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
੧੨ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧੋਖੇਬਾਜ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਉਲਟ ਪੁਲਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
੧੩ਆਲਸੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਈ ਬਾਹਰ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ!
14 The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
੧੪ਪਰਾਈ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਇੱਕ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਟੋਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਡਿੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੈ।
15 Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
੧੫ਬਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਬੱਧੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾੜਨ ਦੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
16 Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
੧੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਨ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਗਰੀਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਧਨਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਂਟ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਾਟਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
17 Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
੧੭ਕੰਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਵੱਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਲਾ,
18 For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
੧੮ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਓਹ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਣ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਭਾਉਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ।
19 That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
੧੯ਮੈਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਓਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ, ਹਾਂ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਭਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਵੇ।
20 Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
੨੦ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤੀਹ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ,
21 That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
੨੧ਭਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਰਿਆਈ ਸਿਖਾਵਾਂ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਘੱਲਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੇਂ?
22 Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
੨੨ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲੁੱਟ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਉੱਤੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰ,
23 For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
੨੩ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਕੱਦਮਾ ਲੜੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟੇਗਾ।
24 Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
੨੪ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾ ਬਣੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਤੁਰੀਂ,
25 Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
੨੫ਕਿਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਲਵੇਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਵੇ।
26 Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
੨੬ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਜ਼ਾਈ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਹੋ।
27 If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
੨੭ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਛਾਉਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਖਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
28 Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
੨੮ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਲਾਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਰਕਾ।
29 Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.
੨੯ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਉਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਛੋਟਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
