Proverbs 22
1 A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
প্রচুর ধনসম্পদের চেয়ে সুনাম বেশি কাম্য; রুপো ও সোনার চেয়ে সম্মান পাওয়া ভালো।
2 The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
ধনবান ও দরিদ্রের মধ্যে একটিই মিল আছে; সদাপ্রভু তাদের উভয়েরই নির্মাতা।
3 A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
বিচক্ষণ মানুষেরা বিপদ দেখে কোথাও আশ্রয় নেয়, কিন্তু অনভিজ্ঞ লোকেরা এগিয়ে যায় ও শাস্তি পায়।
4 The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
নম্রতাই সদাপ্রভুর ভয়; এর বেতন হল ধনসম্পদ ও সম্মান ও জীবন।
5 Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
দুষ্টদের চলার পথে ফাঁদ ও চোরা খাদ থাকে, কিন্তু যারা নিজেদের জীবন রক্ষা করে তারা সেগুলি থেকে দূরে সরে থাকে।
6 Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
সন্তানদের এমন এক পথে চলার শিক্ষা দাও যে পথে তাদের চলা উচিত, ও তারা বৃদ্ধ হয়ে গেলেও সেখান থেকে ফিরে আসবে না।
7 The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
ধনবানেরা দরিদ্রদের উপর কর্তৃত্ব করে, ও যারা ধার করে তারা মহাজনের দাস হয়।
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
যারা অধর্মের বীজ বোনে তাদের চরম দুর্দশারূপী ফসল কাটতে হয়, ও তারা রাগের বশে যে লাঠি চালায় তা ভেঙে যাবে।
9 He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
উদার প্রকৃতির মানুষেরা স্বয়ং আশীর্বাদধন্য হবে, কারণ তারা তাদের খাদ্য দরিদ্রদের সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নেয়।
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
বিদ্রুপকারীদের তাড়িয়ে দাও, আর বিবাদও দূর হয়ে যাবে; বিবাদ ও অপমানও মিটে যাবে।
11 Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
যে বিশুদ্ধ হৃদয় ভালোবাসে ও যে অনুগ্রহকারী কথাবার্তা বলে সে রাজাকে বন্ধু রূপে পায়।
12 The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
সদাপ্রভুর চোখ জ্ঞান পাহারা দেয়, কিন্তু বিশ্বাসঘাতকদের কথা তিনি বিফল করে দেন।
13 The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
অলস বলে, “বাইরে সিংহ আছে! নগরের চকে গেলেই আমি নিহত হব!”
14 The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
ব্যভিচারী মহিলার মুখ এক গভীর খাত; যে সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধের অধীন সে সেই খাদে গিয়ে পড়ে।
15 Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
শিশুর অন্তরে মূর্খতা বাঁধা থাকে, কিন্তু শৃঙ্খলাপরায়ণতার লাঠি তা বহুদূরে সরিয়ে দেয়।
16 Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
যে নিজের ধনসম্পত্তি বাড়িয়ে তোলার জন্য দরিদ্রদের উপরে অত্যাচার করে ও যে ধনবানদের উপহার দেয়—উভয়েই দারিদ্রের সম্মুখীন হবে।
17 Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
মনোযোগ দাও ও জ্ঞানবানদের নীতিবচনে কর্ণপাত করো; আমার শিক্ষায় মনোনিবেশ করো,
18 For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
কারণ তুমি যখন এগুলি অন্তরে রাখবে তখন তা আনন্দদায়ক হবে ও সবকটি তোমার ঠোঁটে প্রস্তুত হয়ে থাকবে।
19 That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
যেন সদাপ্রভুতে তোমার নির্ভরতা স্থির হয়, তাই আজ আমি তোমাকে, তোমাকেই শিক্ষা দিচ্ছি।
20 Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
তোমার জন্য আমি কি সেই ত্রিশটি নীতিবচন লিখিনি, যেগুলি পরামর্শ ও জ্ঞানমূলক নীতিবচন,
21 That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
যা তোমাকে সৎ হতে ও সত্যিকথা বলতে শিক্ষা দেবে, যেন তুমি যাদের সেবা করছ তাদের কাছে তুমি সত্যনিষ্ঠ খবর নিয়ে আসতে পারো?
22 Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
দরিদ্রদের এজন্যই শোষণ কোরো না যেহেতু তারা দরিদ্র ও অভাবগ্রস্তদের দরবারে পিষে মেরো না,
23 For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
কারণ সদাপ্রভু তাদের হয়ে মামলা লড়বেন ও প্রাণের পরিবর্তে প্রাণ দাবি করবেন।
24 Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
উগ্রস্বভাব বিশিষ্ট লোকের সঙ্গে বন্ধুত্ব কোরো না, এমন কোনও লোকের সহযোগী হোয়ো না যে সহজেই ক্রুদ্ধ হয়,
25 Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
পাছে তুমিও তাদের জীবনযাত্রার ধরন শিখে ফেলো ও নিজেই ফাঁদে জড়িয়ে পড়ো।
26 Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
এমন কোনও মানুষের মতো হোয়ো না যে বন্ধক রেখেছে বা যে ঋণগ্রহীতার হয়ে জামিনদার হয়েছে;
27 If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
যদি তুমি ঋণ শোধ করতে না পারো, তবে তোমার গায়ের তলা থেকে তোমার বিছানাটিও কেড়ে নেওয়া হবে।
28 Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
সীমানার যে প্রাচীন পাথরটি তোমার পূর্বপুরুষেরা প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছিলেন সেটি স্থানান্তরিত কোরো না।
29 Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.
কাউকে কি তাদের কাজে সুদক্ষ দেখছ? তারা রাজাদের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে সেবাকাজ করবে; তারা কোনও নিম্নস্তরীয় কর্মকর্তাদের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে সেবাকাজ করবে না।
