Proverbs 20
1 Wine is a mocker and strong drinke is raging: and whosoeuer is deceiued thereby, is not wise.
വീഞ്ഞു പരിഹാസിയും മദ്യം കലഹക്കാരനും ആകുന്നു; അവമൂലം വഴിതെറ്റുന്നവർ ജ്ഞാനിയല്ല.
2 The feare of the King is like the roaring of a lyon: hee that prouoketh him vnto anger, sinneth against his owne soule.
രാജക്രോധം ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന സിംഹഗർജനംപോലെയാണ്; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പ്രകോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നവർ സ്വജീവൻ അപകടത്തിൽപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.
3 It is a mans honour to cease from strife: but euery foole will be medling.
കലഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു വ്യക്തിയുടെ ബഹുമതിയാണ്, എന്നാൽ ഭോഷരെല്ലാം കലഹത്തിനു തുനിയുന്നു.
4 The slouthfull will not plowe, because of winter: therefore shall he beg in sommer, but haue nothing.
അലസർ കാലോചിതമായി നിലം ഉഴുതുമറിക്കുന്നില്ല; തന്മൂലം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്ത് വിളവെടുപ്പിനായി പരതും; ഒന്നുംതന്നെ ലഭിക്കുകയില്ല.
5 The counsell in the heart of man is like deepe waters: but a man that hath vnderstanding, will drawe it out.
ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ആലോചനകൾ അഗാധമായ ജലപ്പരപ്പാണ്, എന്നാൽ വിവേകമുള്ള മനുഷ്യർ അവ കോരിയെടുക്കുന്നു.
6 Many men wil boast, euery one of his owne goodnes: but who can finde a faithfull man?
തങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസ്തസുഹൃത്തുക്കളാണെന്നു പലരും അവകാശവാദം ഉന്നയിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ വിശ്വസ്തരായ വ്യക്തികളെ കണ്ടെത്താൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും?
7 He that walketh in his integritie, is iust: and blessed shall his children be after him.
നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ സത്യസന്ധരായി ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്നു; അവരെ അനുകരിക്കുന്ന അവരുടെ പിൻതലമുറയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.
8 A King that sitteth in the throne of iudgement, chaseth away all euill with his eyes.
ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ രാജാവ് ഉപവിഷ്ടനാകുമ്പോൾ, തന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടികൊണ്ട് എല്ലാ തിന്മകളും പാറ്റിക്കൊഴിക്കുന്നു.
9 Who can say, I haue made mine heart cleane, I am cleane from my sinne?
“ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഹൃദയം സംശുദ്ധമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ നിരപരാധി, പാപംവിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് ആർക്ക് അവകാശപ്പെടാൻ കഴിയും?
10 Diuers weightes, and diuers measures, both these are euen abomination vnto the Lord.
വ്യാജ അളവും വ്യാജ തൂക്കവും— ഇവ രണ്ടും യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അറപ്പാകുന്നു.
11 A childe also is knowen by his doings, whether his worke be pure and right.
തങ്ങളുടെ സ്വഭാവം സംശുദ്ധവും യുക്തവും ആണോ എന്ന്, ചെറിയ കുട്ടികൾപോലും അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾമൂലം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.
12 The Lord hath made both these, euen the eare to heare, and the eye to see.
കേൾക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ചെവികളും കാണുന്നതിനുള്ള കണ്ണുകളും— ഇവ രണ്ടും യഹോവയുടെ നിർമിതി.
13 Loue not sleepe least thou come vnto pouertie: open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
ഉറക്കത്തെ പ്രണയിക്കരുത്, അങ്ങനെ നീ പാപ്പരായിത്തീരാതിരിക്കട്ടെ; ജാഗരൂകരായിരിക്കുക, അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ നിനക്കു മിച്ചംവെക്കാനും ഭക്ഷണമുണ്ടാകും.
14 It is naught, it is naught, sayth the buyer: but when he is gone apart, he boasteth.
“ഇതു നല്ലതല്ല, ഇതു നല്ലതല്ല!” എന്നു വാങ്ങുന്നവർ വിലപേശുന്നു— പിന്നെ വിലപേശിവാങ്ങിയതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വീമ്പടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നു.
15 There is golde, and a multitude of precious stones: but the lips of knowledge are a precious iewel.
സ്വർണമുണ്ട്, മാണിക്യങ്ങളും അനവധി, എന്നാൽ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഉരുവിടുന്ന അധരങ്ങൾ അത്യപൂർവമായ രത്നം.
16 Take his garment, that is suretie for a stranger, and a pledge of him for the stranger.
അപരിചിതർക്കുവേണ്ടി ജാമ്യം നിൽക്കുന്നവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തുകൊള്ളുക; അന്യർക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണ് കൈയൊപ്പുചാർത്തുന്നതെങ്കിൽ വസ്ത്രംതന്നെ പണയമായി വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളുക.
17 The bread of deceit is sweete to a man: but afterward his mouth shalbe filled with grauel.
വഞ്ചിച്ചു നേടിയ ആഹാരം സ്വാദുള്ളത്, എന്നാൽ അവസാനം അവരുടെ വായിൽ അതു ചരലായിത്തീരും.
18 Establish the thoughtes by counsell: and by counsell make warre.
ആലോചന സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് പദ്ധതികൾ യാഥാർഥ്യമാകുന്നു; മാർഗദർശനം തേടാതെ യുദ്ധത്തിനു പുറപ്പെടരുത്.
19 He that goeth about as a slanderer, discouereth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
കിംവദന്തി ആത്മവിശ്വാസത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നു, ആയതിനാൽ വാചാലരാകുന്നവരോടൊപ്പം ചുറ്റിത്തിരിയരുത്.
20 He that curseth his father or his mother, his light shalbe put out in obscure darkenes.
നീ നിന്റെ പിതാവിനെയോ മാതാവിനെയോ ശപിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, നിന്റെ വിളക്കു കൂരിരുട്ടിൽ ഊതിയണയ്ക്കപ്പെടും.
21 An heritage is hastely gotten at the beginning, but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
തിടുക്കത്തിൽ കൈവരുന്ന പൈതൃകസ്വത്ത് അന്ത്യത്തിൽ അനുഗ്രഹമാകുകയില്ല.
22 Say not thou, I wil recompense euill: but waite vpon the Lord, and he shall saue thee.
“ഈ അനീതിക്ക് ഞാൻ പകരംവീട്ടും!” എന്നു പറയരുത്. യഹോവയ്ക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കുക, അവിടന്നു നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യും.
23 Diuers weightes are an abomination vnto the Lord, and deceitful balances are not good.
വ്യാജ അളവ് യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അറപ്പാകുന്നു, വഞ്ചനാപരമായ അളവുകോൽ അവിടത്തേക്കു പ്രസാദകരമല്ല.
24 The steps of man are ruled by the Lord: how can a man then vnderstand his owne way?
മനുഷ്യരുടെ ചുവടുകൾ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത് യഹോവയാണ്. അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ ഒരാൾക്ക് എങ്ങനെ സ്വന്തവഴികൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും?
25 It is a destruction for a man to deuoure that which is sanctified, and after the vowes to inquire.
ധൃതഗതിയിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിനു നേരുന്നതും പിന്നീട് തന്റെ നേർച്ചകളെപ്പറ്റി പുനർവിചിന്തനം ചെയ്യുന്നതും ഒരു കെണിയാണ്.
26 A wise King scattereth the wicked, and causeth the wheele to turne ouer them.
ജ്ഞാനിയായ രാജാവ് ദുഷ്ടരെ പാറ്റിക്കൊഴിക്കുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെമേൽ മെതിവണ്ടി കയറ്റുന്നു.
27 The light of the Lord is the breath of man, and searcheth all the bowels of the belly.
യഹോവയുടെ വിളക്ക് മനുഷ്യാത്മാക്കളെ ആരാഞ്ഞറിയുന്നു അത് അന്തരിന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളെ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നു.
28 Mercie and trueth preserue the King: for his throne shall be established with mercie.
സ്നേഹവും വിശ്വസ്തതയും രാജാവിനെ സുരക്ഷിതനായി സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; സ്നേഹത്തിലൂടെ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനം സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുന്നു.
29 The beautie of yong men is their strength, and the glory of the aged is the gray head.
ശക്തിയാണ് യുവാക്കന്മാരുടെ മഹത്ത്വം, നരച്ചതല വൃദ്ധർക്കു ഗാംഭീര്യം.
30 The blewnes of the wound serueth to purge the euill, and the stripes within the bowels of the belly.
ക്ഷതവും മുറിവും തിന്മയെ ഉരച്ചുകഴുകുന്നു, പ്രഹരം അന്തരിന്ദ്രിയത്തെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.
