Proverbs 2
1 My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,
Hijo mío, si acoges mis palabras, y guardas mis preceptos en tu corazón,
2 And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,
aplicando tu oído a la sabiduría, e inclinando tu corazón a la inteligencia;
3 (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:
si invocas la prudencia y con tu voz llamas a la inteligencia;
4 If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,
si la buscas como la plata, y la exploras como un tesoro,
5 Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.
entonces sabrás lo que es el temor de Yahvé, y habrás hallado el conocimiento de Dios.
6 For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.
Porque Yahvé da la sabiduría; de su boca salen el conocimiento y la inteligencia.
7 He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,
Él guarda para los buenos la salvación, y es el escudo de los que proceden rectamente;
8 That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)
El cubre las sendas de la justicia, y protege los pasos de sus santos.
9 Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.
Entonces conocerás la justicia y la equidad, la rectitud y todo sendero bueno.
10 When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,
Cuando entrare en tu corazón la sabiduría, y se complaciere tu alma en el conocimiento,
11 Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,
velará sobre ti la prudencia, y la inteligencia será tu salvaguardia,
12 And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,
para librarte del camino de los malvados, y de los hombres de lengua perversa,
13 And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:
de aquellos que abandonan el camino recto, para andar por sendas tenebrosas;
14 Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,
que se alegran haciendo el mal, y se deleitan en las peores perversidades.
15 Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.
Siguen caminos tortuosos, y perversas son sus andanzas.
16 And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.
Ella te librará de la mujer ajena, de la extraña que usa de dulces palabras,
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.
que deja al compañero de su juventud y se olvida del pacto de su Dios.
18 Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.
Su casa está en la vereda de la muerte, y sus pasos conducen a la ruina.
19 All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.
Cuantos entran en ella no retornan, no alcanzan más las sendas de la vida.
20 Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.
Anda tú, pues, por el camino de los buenos; y sigue las pisadas de los justos.
21 For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.
Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra, y los íntegros permanecerán en ella.
22 But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
Mas los impíos serán exterminados de la tierra, y desarraigados de ella los pérfidos.
