Proverbs 18
1 For the desire thereof hee will separate himselfe to seeke it, and occupie himselfe in all wisdome.
കൂട്ടംവിട്ടുനടക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ സ്വാർഥതാത്പര്യങ്ങൾ പിൻതുടരുകയും നല്ല തീരുമാനങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
2 A foole hath no delite in vnderstanding: but that his heart may be discouered.
ഭോഷർ വിവേകത്തിൽ ആഹ്ലാദം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നില്ല; എന്നാൽ അവർ സ്വന്തം അഭിപ്രായം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിലാണ് ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നത്.
3 When the wicked commeth, then commeth contempt, and with the vile man reproch.
ദുഷ്ടരോടൊപ്പം വിദ്വേഷം തലപൊക്കുന്നു, അപമാനത്തോടൊപ്പം അപകീർത്തിയും വന്നുചേരുന്നു.
4 The words of a mans mouth are like deepe waters, and the welspring of wisdome is like a flowing riuer.
ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ അഗാധമായ ജലപ്പരപ്പുപോലെയാകാം; എന്നാൽ ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ഉറവ കളകളാരവത്തോടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന അരുവിപോലെയും.
5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to cause ye righteous to fall in iudgement.
ദുഷ്ടരോട് പക്ഷഭേദം കാണിക്കുന്നതും നിരപരാധിക്കു നീതി നിഷേധിക്കുന്നതും ഉചിതമല്ല.
6 A fooles lips come with strife, and his mouth calleth for stripes.
ഭോഷത്തമുള്ളവരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ കലഹം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നു, അവരുടെ അധരം അടി ഇരന്നുവാങ്ങുന്നു.
7 A fooles mouth is his owne destruction, and his lips are a snare for his soule.
ഭോഷരുടെ വായ് അവർക്കു നാശഹേതുവും അധരങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ ജീവനു കെണിയും ആകുന്നു.
8 The wordes of a tale bearer are as flatterings, and they goe downe into the bowels of the belly.
ഏഷണി പറയുന്നവരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ സ്വാദുഭോജനംപോലെയാകുന്നു; അതു ശരീരത്തിന്റെ അന്തർഭാഗത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുന്നു.
9 He also that is slouthfull in his worke, is euen the brother of him that is a great waster.
സ്വന്തം തൊഴിലിൽ അലസത കാണിക്കുന്നവർ വിനാശം വിതയ്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ സഹോദരങ്ങളാകുന്നു.
10 The Name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth vnto it, and is exalted.
യഹോവയുടെ നാമം കെട്ടുറപ്പുള്ള ഒരു കോട്ടയാണ്; നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ അവിടേക്കോടിച്ചെന്ന് സുരക്ഷിതരാകുന്നു.
11 The rich mans riches are his strong citie: and as an hie wall in his imagination.
ധനമുള്ളവരുടെ സമ്പത്ത് അവർക്കു കോട്ടകെട്ടിയ നഗരമാണ്; അത് ആർക്കും കയറാൻപറ്റാത്ത മതിലെന്ന് അവർ സങ്കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
12 Before destruction the heart of a man is hautie, and before glory goeth lowlines.
അഹന്ത നാശത്തിന്റെ മുന്നോടിയാണ്, എന്നാൽ എളിമ ബഹുമതിക്കു മുമ്പേപോകുന്നു.
13 He that answereth a matter before hee heare it, it is folly and shame vnto him.
കേൾക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പേ ഉത്തരം നൽകുന്നത് മടയത്തരവും അപമാനവും ആകുന്നു.
14 The spirit of a man will susteine his infirmitie: but a wounded spirit who can beare it?
ഉന്മേഷമുള്ളഹൃദയം രോഗാതുരത അതിജീവിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ തകർന്ന ഹൃദയം ആർക്ക് സഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?
15 A wise heart getteth knowledge, and the eare of the wise seeketh learning.
വിവേകമുള്ളവരുടെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം ആർജിക്കുന്നു, ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ കാതുകൾ അതു കണ്ടെത്തുന്നു.
16 A mans gift enlargeth him, and leadeth him before great men.
ദാനം ദാതാവിനു വഴിതുറക്കുകയും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ മഹാന്മാരുടെ നിരയിലേക്ക് ആനയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
17 He that is first in his owne cause, is iust: then commeth his neighbour, and maketh inquirie of him.
എതിരാളി എതിർവിസ്താരം ചെയ്യുന്നതുവരെ ആദ്യം അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വാദം യുക്തിസഹം എന്നു കരുതപ്പെടും.
18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and maketh a partition among the mightie.
നറുക്കിടുന്നതു തർക്കങ്ങൾക്കു പരിഹാരം വരുത്തുകയും പ്രബലരായ പ്രതിയോഗികളെ സമവായത്തിൽ എത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
19 A brother offended is harder to winne then a strong citie, and their contentions are like the barre of a palace.
ഹൃദയത്തിൽ മുറിവേറ്റ സഹോദരങ്ങളെ അനുരഞ്ജിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് കെട്ടുറപ്പുള്ള കോട്ടകടക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ ദുഷ്കരം; തർക്കങ്ങൾ കോട്ടവാതിലിന്റെ ഇരുമ്പഴികൾപോലെയും.
20 With the fruite of a mans mouth shall his belly be satisfied, and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായുടെ ഫലത്തിൽനിന്ന് അയാളുടെ വയറിനു തൃപ്തിവരുന്നു; അവരുടെ അധരങ്ങളുടെ വിളവുകൊണ്ട് അവർ സംതൃപ്തരാകുന്നു.
21 Death and life are in the power of ye tongue, and they that loue it, shall eate the fruite thereof.
മരണവും ജീവനും നൽകാനുള്ള ശക്തി നാവിനുണ്ട്, അതിനെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ അതിന്റെ ഫലമനുഭവിക്കും.
22 He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing, and receiueth fauour of the Lord.
ഭാര്യയെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നവൻ നന്മ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും യഹോവയിൽനിന്നു പ്രസാദം കൈപ്പറ്റുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
23 The poore speaketh with prayers: but the rich answereth roughly.
ദരിദ്രർ കരുണയ്ക്കായി കേണപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ധനികർ പരുഷമായി പ്രതിവാദം നടത്തുന്നു.
24 A man that hath friends, ought to shew him selfe friendly: for a friend is neerer then a brother.
അവിശ്വസ്തരായ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുള്ളവർ പെട്ടെന്നു നശിച്ചുപോകും, എന്നാൽ സഹോദരങ്ങളെക്കാൾ ചേർന്നുനിൽക്കുന്ന സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുമുണ്ട്.
