Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
दिल की तदबीरें इंसान से हैं, लेकिन ज़बान का जवाब ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से है।
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
इंसान की नज़र में उसके सब चाल चलन पाक हैं, लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द रूहों को जाँचता है।
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
अपने सब काम ख़ुदावन्द पर छोड़ दे, तो तेरे इरादे क़ाईम रहेंगे।
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
ख़ुदावन्द ने हर एक चीज़ ख़ास मक़सद के लिए बनाई, हाँ शरीरों को भी उसने बुरे दिन के लिए बनाया।
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
हर एक से जिसके दिल में गु़रूर है, ख़ुदावन्द को नफ़रत है; यक़ीनन वह बे सज़ा न छूटेगा।
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
शफ़क़त और सच्चाई से बदी का और लोग ख़ुदावन्द के ख़ौफ़ की वजह से बदी से बाज़ आते हैं।
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
जब इंसान का चाल चलन ख़ुदावन्द को पसंद आता है तो वह उसके दुश्मनों को भी उसके दोस्त बनाता है।
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
सदाक़त के साथ थोड़ा सा माल, बे इन्साफ़ी की बड़ी आमदनी से बेहतर है।
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
आदमी का दिल आपनी राह ठहराता है लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द उसके क़दमों की रहनुमाई करता है।
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
कलाम — ए — रब्बानी बादशाह के लबों से निकलता है, और उसका मुँह 'अदालत करने में ख़ता नहीं करता।
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
ठीक तराजू़ और पलड़े ख़ुदावन्द के हैं, थैली के सब तौल बाट उसका काम हैं।
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
शरारत करने से बादशाहों को नफ़रत है, क्यूँकि तख़्त का क़याम सदाक़त से है।
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
सादिक़ लब बादशाहों की ख़ुशनूदी हैं, और वह सच बोलने वालों को दोस्त रखते हैं।
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
बादशाह का क़हर मौत का क़ासिद है, लेकिन 'अक़्लमंद आदमी उसे ठंडा करता है।
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
बादशाह के चेहरे के नूर में ज़िन्दगी है, और उसकी नज़र — ए — 'इनायत आख़री बरसात के बादल की तरह है।
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
हिकमत का हुसूल सोने से बहुत बेहतर है, और समझ का हुसूल चाँदी से बहुत पसन्दीदा है।
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
रास्तकार आदमी की शाहराह यह है कि बदी से भागे, और अपनी राह का निगहबान अपनी जान की हिफ़ाजत करता है।
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
हलाकत से पहले तकब्बुर, और ज़वाल से पहले ख़ुदबीनी है।
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
ग़रीबों के साथ फ़रोतन बनना, मुतकब्बिरों के साथ लूट का माल तक़सीम करने से बेहतर है।
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
जो कलाम पर तवज्जुह करता है, भलाई देखेगा: और जिसका भरोसा ख़ुदावन्द पर है, मुबारक है।
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
'अक़्लमंद दिल होशियार कहलाएगा, और शीरीन ज़बानी से 'इल्म की फ़िरावानी होती है।
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
'अक्लमंद के लिए 'अक़्ल हयात का चश्मा है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ की तरबियत बेवक़ूफ़ ही है।
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
'अक़्लमंद का दिल उसके मुँह की तरबियत करता है, और उसके लबों को 'इल्म बख़्शता है।
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
दिलपसंद बातें शहद का छत्ता हैं, वह जी को मीठी लगती हैं और हड्डियों के लिए शिफ़ा हैं।
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
ऐसी राह भी है, जो इंसान को सीधी मा'लूम होती है; लेकिन उसकी इन्तिहा में मौत की राहें हैं।
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
मेहनत करने वाले की ख़्वाहिश उससे काम कराती है, क्यूँकि उसका पेट उसको उभारता है।
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
ख़बीस आदमी शरारत को ख़ुद कर निकालता है, और उसके लबों में जैसे जलाने वाली आग है।
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
टेढ़ा आदमी फ़ितना ओंगेज़ है, और ग़ीबत करने वाला दोस्तों में जुदाई डालता है।
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
तुन्दखू़ आदमी अपने पड़ोसियों को वरग़लाता है, और उसको बुरी राह पर ले जाता है।
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
आँख मारने वाला कजी ईजाद करता है, और लब चबाने वाला फ़साद खड़ा करता है।
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
सफ़ेद सिर शौकत का ताज है; वह सदाक़त की राह पर पाया जाएगा।
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
जो क़हर करने में धीमा है पहलवान से बेहतर है, और वह जो अपनी रूह पर ज़ाबित है उस से जो शहर को ले लेता है।
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
पर्ची गोद में डाली जाती है, लेकिन उसका सारा इन्तिज़ाम ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से है।
