Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
En människa gör upp planer i sitt hjärta, men från HERREN kommer vad tungan svarar.
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
Var man tycker sina vägar vara goda, men HERREN är den som prövar andarna.
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
Befall dina verk åt HERREN, så hava dina planer framgång.
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
HERREN har gjort var sak för dess särskilda mål, så ock den ogudaktige för olyckans dag.
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
En styggelse för HERREN är var högmodig man; en sådan bliver förvisso icke ostraffad.
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
Genom barmhärtighet och trofasthet försonas missgärning, och genom HERRENS fruktan undflyr man det onda.
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
Om en mans vägar behaga HERREN väl så gör han ock hans fiender till hans vänner.
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
Bättre är något litet med rättfärdighet än stor vinning med orätt.
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
Människans hjärta tänker ut en väg, men HERREN är den som styr hennes steg.
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
Gudasvar är på konungens läppar, i domen felar icke hans mun.
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
Våg och rätt vägning äro från HERREN, alla vikter i pungen äro hans verk.
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
En styggelse för konungar äro ogudaktiga gärningar, ty genom rättfärdighet bliver tronen befäst.
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
Rättfärdiga läppar behaga konungar väl, Och den som talar vad rätt är, han bliver älskad.
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
Konungens vrede är dödens förebud, men en vis man blidkar den.
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
När konungen låter sitt ansikte lysa, är där liv, och hans välbehag är såsom ett moln med vårregn.
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
Långt bättre är att förvärva vishet än guld förstånd är mer värt att förvärvas än silver.
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
De redligas väg är att fly det onda; den som aktar på sin väg, han bevarar sitt liv.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
Stolthet går före undergång, och högmod går före fall.
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
Bättre är att vara ödmjuk bland de betryckta än att utskifta byte med de högmodiga.
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
Den som aktar på ordet, han finner lycka, och säll är den som förtröstar på HERREN.
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
Den som har ett vist hjärta, honom kallar man förståndig, och där sötma är på läpparna hämtas mer lärdom.
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
En livets källa är förståndet för den som äger det, men oförnuftet är de oförnuftigas tuktan.
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
Den vises hjärta gör hans mun förståndig och lägger lärdom på hans läppar, allt mer och mer.
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
Milda ord äro honungskakor; de äro ljuvliga för själen och en läkedom för kroppen.
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
Mången håller sin väg för den rätta, men på sistone leder den dock till döden.
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
Arbetarens hunger hjälper honom att arbeta ty hans egen mun driver på honom.
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
Fördärvlig är den människa som gräver gropar för att skada; det är såsom brunne en eld på hennes läppar.
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
En vrång människa kommer träta åstad, och en örontasslare gör vänner oense.
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
Den orättrådige förför sin nästa och leder honom in på en väg som icke är god.
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
Den som ser under lugg, han umgås med vrånga tankar; den som biter ihop läpparna, han är färdig med något ont.
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
En ärekrona äro grå hår; den vinnes på rättfärdighetens väg.
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
Bättre är en tålmodig man än en stark, och bättre den som styr sitt sinne än den som intager en stad.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
Lotten varder kastad i skötet, men den faller alltid vart HERREN vill.
