Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
Do homem são as preparações do coração, mas do Senhor a resposta da boca.
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
Todos os caminhos do homem são limpos aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pesa os espíritos.
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
Confia do Senhor as tuas obras, e teus pensamentos serão estabelecidos.
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
O Senhor fez todas as coisas para si, para os seus próprios fins, e até ao ímpio para o dia do mal.
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
Abominação é ao Senhor todo o altivo de coração: ainda que ele junte mão à mão, não será inocente
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
Pela misericórdia e pela fidelidade se expia a iniquidade, e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do mal.
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
Sendo os caminhos do homem agradáveis ao Senhor, até a seus inimigos faz que tenham paz com ele.
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que a abundância de colheita com injustiça.
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
O coração do homem considera o seu caminho, mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos.
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
Adivinhação se acha nos lábios do rei: em juízo não prevaricará a sua boca.
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
O peso e a balança justa são do Senhor: obra sua são todos os pesos da bolsa.
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
Abominação é para os reis obrarem impiedade, porque com justiça se estabelece o trono.
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
Os lábios de justiça são o contentamento dos reis, e eles amarão ao que fala coisas retas.
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
O furor do rei é como uns mensageiros da morte, mas o homem sábio o apaziguará.
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
Na luz do rosto do rei está a vida, e a sua benevolência é como a nuvem da chuva serodia.
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
Quanto melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! e quanto mais excelente adquirir a prudência do que a prata!
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
A carreira dos retos é desviar-se do mal; o que guarda a sua alma conserva o seu caminho.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
A soberba precede a ruína, e a altivez do espírito precede a queda.
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
Melhor é ser humilde de espírito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
O que atenta prudentemente para a palavra achará o bem, e o que confia no Senhor será bem-aventurado.
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
O sábio de coração será chamado prudente, e a doçura dos lábios aumentará o ensino.
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
O entendimento, para aqueles que o possuem, é uma fonte de vida, mas a instrução dos tolos é a sua estultícia.
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
O coração do sábio instrui a sua boca, e sobre os seus lábios aumentará a doutrina.
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
Favo de mel são as palavras suaves, doces para a alma, e saúde para os ossos.
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
Há caminho, que parece direito ao homem, mas o seu fim são os caminhos da morte.
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
O trabalhador trabalha para si mesmo, porque a sua boca o insta.
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
O homem de Belial cava o mal, e nos seus lábios se acha como um fogo ardente.
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
O homem perverso levanta a contenda, e o murmurador separa os maiores amigos.
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
O homem violento persuade ao seu companheiro, e o guia por caminho não bom.
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
Fecha os olhos para imaginar perversidades; mordendo os lábios, efetua o mal.
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
Coroa de honra são as cãs, achando-se elas no caminho de justiça.
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
Melhor é o longânimo do que o valente, e o que governa o seu espírito do que o que toma uma cidade.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
A sorte se lança no regaço, mas do Senhor procede toda a sua disposição.
