Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
Dem Menschen gehören des Herzens Entwürfe, aber von Jahwe kommt die Antwort der Zunge.
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
Alle seine Wege hält ein Mann für rein, aber Jahwe ist's, der die Geister wägt.
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
Befiehl Jahwe deine Werke, so werden deine Anschläge gelingen.
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
Alles hat Jahwe zu seinem Zwecke geschaffen, so auch den Gottlosen für den Tag des Unglücks.
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
Ein Greuel ist für Jahwe jeder Hochmütige; die Hand darauf: er wird nicht straflos bleiben!
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
Durch Liebe und Treue wird Verschuldung gesühnt, und durch die Furcht Jahwes meidet man das Böse.
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
Wenn eines Mannes Wege Jahwe wohlgefallen, so söhnt er auch seine Feinde mit ihm aus.
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
Besser wenig mit Gerechtigkeit, als ein großes Einkommen mit Unrecht.
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
Des Menschen Herz erdenkt seinen Weg, aber Jahwe lenkt seinen Schritt.
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
Orakelspruch ruht auf des Königs Lippen; beim Urteilsprechen wird sein Mund sich nicht vergreifen.
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
Rechtes Wiegen und Wägen kommt von Jahwe; sein Werk sind alle Gewichtsteine im Beutel.
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
Ein Greuel ist den Königen gottloses Thun; denn durch Gerechtigkeit wird der Thron befestigt.
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
Der Könige Wohlgefallen sind gerechte Lippen, und wer aufrichtig redet, den lieben sie.
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
Des Königs Grimm ist gleich Todesboten, aber ein weiser Mann besänftigt ihn.
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
Im freundlichen Blicke des Königs liegt Leben, und sein Wohlwollen gleicht dem Gewölke des Frühlingsregens.
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
Wie viel besser ist's, Weisheit zu erwerben, als Gold, und das Erwerben von Einsicht ist dem Silber vorzuziehn!
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
Der Rechtschaffenen Bahn besteht im Meiden des Bösen; sein Leben bewahren, heißt auf seinen Wandel acht haben.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
Dem Sturze geht Stolz voran, und hoffärtiger Sinn dem Fall.
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
Besser demütig sein mit Demütigen, als Beute teilen mit Stolzen.
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
Wer auf das Wort achtet, findet Glück, und wer Jahwe vertraut, - wohl ihm!
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
Wer weises Herzens ist, wird ein Verständiger genannt, und die Süßigkeit der Lippen mehrt die Belehrung.
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
Ein Born des Lebens ist die Klugheit für den, der sie besitzt, aber der Narren Züchtigung ist die Narrheit.
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
Des Weisen Herz macht seinen Mund klug, und mehrt auf seinen Lippen die Belehrung.
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
Honigseim sind huldvolle Reden, Süßes für die Seele und Heilung dem Gebein.
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
Mancher Weg dünkt einen gerade, aber das Ende davon sind Todeswege.
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
Der Hunger des Arbeiters arbeitet für ihn, denn sein eigener Mund treibt ihn an.
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
Ein nichtsnutziger Mann macht Gruben zum Unglück, und auf seinen Lippen ist gleichsam versengendes Feuer.
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
Ein ränkesüchtiger Mann richtet Zänkerei an, und ein Ohrenbläser bringt vertraute Freunde auseinander.
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
Ein gewaltthätiger Mann verlockt seinen Nächsten und führt ihn auf keinen guten Weg.
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
Wer seine Augen schließt, will Ränke ersinnen; wer seine Lippen zusammenkneift, hat das Böse schon fertig.
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
Eine herrliche Krone ist graues Haar; auf dem Wege der Frömmigkeit wird sie erlangt.
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
Besser ein Langmütiger, als ein Held, und besser einer, der des eigenen Gemütes Herr ist, als ein Städteeroberer.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
In den Schoß wirft man das Los, aber von Jahwe kommt all' sein Entscheid.
