Proverbs 15
1 A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.
Une réponse douce calme la fureur, mais une parole dure excite la colère.
2 The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.
La langue des sages rend la science aimable; de la bouche des insensés déborde la folie.
3 The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.
Les yeux de Yahweh sont en tout lieu, observant les méchants et les bons.
4 A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.
la parole douce est un arbre de vie, mais la langue perverse brise le cœur.
5 A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.
L’insensé méprise l’instruction de son père, mais celui qui profite de la réprimande devient plus sage.
6 The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.
Il y a grande richesse dans la maison du juste, mais il y a du trouble dans les gains du méchant.
7 The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.
Les lèvres du sage répandent la science, mais non le cœur de l’insensé.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.
Le sacrifice des méchants est en horreur à Yahweh, mais la prière des hommes droits lui plaît.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.
La voie du méchant est en abomination à Yahweh, mais il aime celui qui poursuit la justice.
10 Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.
Une correction sévère frappe celui qui abandonne le sentier; celui qui hait la réprimande mourra.
11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men? (Sheol h7585)
Le schéol et l’abîme sont à nu devant Yahweh: combien plus les cœurs des enfants des hommes! (Sheol h7585)
12 A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.
Le moqueur n’aime pas qu’on le reprenne, il ne va pas vers les sages.
13 A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.
Un cœur joyeux rend le visage serein, mais, quand le cœur est triste, l’esprit est abattu.
14 The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.
Le cœur intelligent cherche la science, mais la bouche des insensés se repaît de folie.
15 All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.
Tous les jours de l’affligé sont mauvais, mais le cœur content est un festin perpétuel.
16 Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.
Mieux vaut peu avec la crainte de Yahweh, qu’un grand trésor avec le trouble.
17 Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.
Mieux vaut des légumes avec de l’affection, qu’un bœuf gras avec de la haine.
18 An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.
L’homme violent excite des querelles, mais le patient apaise les disputes.
19 The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.
Le chemin du paresseux est comme une haie d’épines, mais le sentier des hommes droits est aplani.
20 A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
Un fils sage fait la joie de son père, et l’insensé méprise sa mère.
21 Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.
La folie est une joie pour l’homme dépourvu de sens, mais un homme intelligent suit le droit chemin.
22 Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.
Les projets échouent faute de délibération, mais ils réussissent quand il y a de nombreux conseillers.
23 A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?
L’homme a de la joie pour une bonne réponse de sa bouche, et combien est agréable une parole dite à propos!
Le sage suit un sentier de vie qui mène en haut, pour se détourner du schéol qui est en bas. (Sheol h7585)
25 The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.
Yahweh renverse la maison des orgueilleux, mais il affermit les bornes de la veuve.
26 The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.
Les pensées mauvaises sont en horreur à Yahweh, mais les paroles bienveillantes sont pures à ses yeux.
27 He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.
Celui qui est âpre au gain trouble sa maison, mais celui qui hait les présents vivra.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.
Le cœur du juste médite ce qu’il doit répondre, mais le mal jaillit de la bouche des méchants.
29 The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Yahweh est loin des méchants, mais il écoute la prière des justes.
30 The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.
Un regard bienveillant réjouit le cœur; une bonne nouvelle engraisse les os.
31 The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.
L’oreille qui écoute les réprimandes salutaires a sa demeure parmi les sages.
32 Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.
Celui qui rejette la correction méprise son âme, mais celui qui écoute la réprimande acquiert la sagesse.
33 The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
La crainte de Yahweh est l’école de la sagesse, et l’humilité précède la gloire.
