Proverbs 10
1 THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.
Parábolas de Salomón. Un hijo sabio es la alegría de su padre, y un hijo necio el desconsuelo de su madre.
2 The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.
Nada aprovechan los tesoros de iniquidad, pero la justicia libra de la muerte.
3 The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
Yahvé no permite que el justo sufra hambre, al par que desatiende los apetitos de los malvados.
4 A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.
La mano indolente empobrece, y la mano laboriosa enriquece.
5 He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.
Quien en verano recoge, es hijo sabio; el que ronca en la siega, se acarrea deshonra.
6 Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.
La bendición (descansa) sobre la cabeza del justo, mientras los labios de los malvados encubren la maldad.
7 The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.
La memoria del justo será bendita, pero el nombre de los malos es podredumbre.
8 The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.
El sabio de corazón acepta los preceptos, el necio de labios, en cambio, caerá.
9 He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.
Quien procede con rectitud anda seguro, mas el que tuerce sus caminos vendrá a ser descubierto.
10 He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.
Quien guiña los ojos causa dolores; y el necio de labios va a la perdición.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.
Fuente de vida es la boca del justo; mas los labios de los malvados encubren la injusticia.
12 Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.
El odio suscita contiendas, el amor, empero, cubre todas las faltas.
13 In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.
En los labios del prudente se halla la sabiduría, mas para las espaldas del que no tiene juicio es la vara.
14 Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.
Los sabios conservan su saber, mas la boca del necio se apresura en causar ruina.
15 The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.
La hacienda del rico es su plaza fuerte, la desgracia de los pobres es su misma pobreza.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.
Los trabajos del justo son para vida, las ganancias del impío, para pecado.
17 He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.
Va por senda de vida quien hace caso de la corrección, anda descarriado quien no acepta la reprensión.
18 He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.
El que disimula el odio tiene labios mentirosos, y quien esparce calumnias es un insensato.
19 In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.
En el mucho hablar no falta pecado, el sabio ahorra sus palabras.
20 The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.
Plata finísima es la lengua del justo, mas el corazón del malvado vale muy poco.
21 The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.
Nutren a muchos los labios del justo, mas los necios mueren por falta de inteligencia.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.
La bendición de Yahvé da prosperidad, nuestro afán no le añade nada.
23 It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.
Es como un juego para el necio el hacer mal, y para el sensato el ser sabio.
24 That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.
Sobrevendrá al impío el mal que teme, mas a los justos se les concede lo que desean.
25 As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.
Como pasa el torbellino, así desaparece el impío, mas el justo queda cimentado para siempre.
26 As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.
Como el agraz para los dientes, y el humo para los ojos, así es el perezoso para el que le manda.
27 The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.
El temor de Yahvé alarga la vida, mas los años de los malvados serán abreviados.
28 The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
La esperanza de los justos se transforma en gozo, la expectación de los malos en humo.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.
El camino de Yahvé es una fortaleza para el hombre recto, pero causa de ruina para los obradores de iniquidad.
30 The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
Nunca vacilará el justo, pero los impíos no subsistirán sobre la tierra.
31 The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.
La boca del justo brota sabiduría, la lengua perversa será cortada.
32 The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
Los labios del justo conocen la benevolencia, mas de la boca de los malvados sale la perversidad.
