Proverbs 10
1 THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.
Proverbios de Salomão. O filho sabio alegra a seu pae, mas o filho louco é a tristeza de sua mãe.
2 The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.
Os thesouros da impiedade de nada aproveitam; porém a justiça livra da morte.
3 The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
O Senhor não deixa ter fome a alma do justo, mas a fazenda dos impios rechaça.
4 A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.
O que trabalha com mão enganosa empobrece, mas a mão dos diligentes enriquece.
5 He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.
O que ajunta no verão é filho entendido, mas o que dorme na sega é filho que faz envergonhar.
6 Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.
Bençãos ha sobre a cabeça do justo, mas a violencia cobre a bocca dos impios.
7 The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.
A memoria do justo é abençoada, mas o nome dos impios apodrecerá.
8 The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.
O sabio de coração acceita os mandamentos, mas o louco de labios será transtornado.
9 He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.
Quem anda em sinceridade, anda seguro; mas o que perverte os seus caminhos será conhecido.
10 He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.
O que acena com os olhos dá dôres, e o tolo de labios será transtornado.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.
A bocca do justo é fonte de vida, mas a bocca dos impios cobre a violencia.
12 Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.
O odio excita contendas, mas o amor cobre todas as transgressões.
13 In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.
Nos labios do entendido se acha a sabedoria, mas a vara é para as costas do falto de entendimento.
14 Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.
Os sabios escondem a sabedoria; mas a bocca do tolo está perto da ruina.
15 The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.
A fazenda do rico é a cidade da sua fortaleza: a pobreza dos pobres é a sua ruina.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.
A obra do justo conduz á vida, as novidades do impio ao peccado.
17 He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.
O caminho para a vida é d'aquelle que guarda a correcção, mas o que deixa a reprehensão faz errar.
18 He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.
O que encobre o odio tem labios falsos, e o que produz má fama é um insensato.
19 In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.
Na multidão de palavras não ha falta de transgressão, mas o que modera os seus labios é prudente.
20 The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.
Prata escolhida é a lingua do justo: o coração dos impios é de nenhum preço.
21 The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.
Os labios do justo apascentam a muitos, mas os tolos, por falta de entendimento, morrem.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.
A benção do Senhor é a que enriquece; e não lhe accrescenta dôres.
23 It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.
Como brincadeira é para o tolo fazer abominação, mas sabedoria para o homem entendido.
24 That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.
O temor do impio virá sobre elle, mas o desejo dos justos Deus lhe cumprirá.
25 As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.
Como passa a tempestade, assim o impio mais não é; mas o justo tem perpetuo fundamento.
26 As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.
Como vinagre para os dentes, como o fumo para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aquelles que o mandam.
27 The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.
O temor do Senhor augmenta os dias, mas os annos dos impios serão abreviados.
28 The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.
A esperança dos justos é alegria, mas a expectação dos impios perecerá.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.
O caminho do Senhor é fortaleza para os rectos, mas ruina será para os que obram iniquidade.
30 The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
O justo nunca jámais será abalado, mas os impios não habitarão a terra.
31 The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.
A bocca do justo em abundancia produz sabedoria, mas a lingua da perversidade será desarreigada.
32 The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
Os beiços do justo sabem o que agrada, mas a bocca dos impios anda cheia de perversidades.
