Numbers 27
1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the sonne of Hepher, the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Machir, the sonne of Manasseh, of the familie of Manasseh, the sonne of Ioseph (and the names of his daughters were these, Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)
Men Selofhads døtre - han var sønn av Hefer, Gileads sønn, som igjen var sønn av Makir, Manasses sønn, av Manasses, Josefs sønns ætt, og hans døtre hette Mahla, Noa og Hogla og Milka og Tirsa -
2 And stoode before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assemblie, at the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,
de gikk frem for Moses og Eleasar, presten, og høvdingene og hele menigheten ved inngangen til sammenkomstens telt og sa:
3 Our father dyed in the wildernes, and he was not among the assemblie of them that were assembled against the Lord in the companie of Korah, but died in his sinne, and had no sonnes.
Vår far døde i ørkenen, og han var ikke med i den flokk som satte sig op mot Herren - i Korahs flokk - men han døde for sin egen synds skyld, og han hadde ingen sønner.
4 Wherefore should the name of our father be taken away from among his familie, because he hath no sonne? giue vs a possession among the brethren of our father.
Hvorfor skal vår fars navn gå ut av hans ætt, fordi om han ingen sønn hadde? Gi oss eiendom blandt vår fars brødre!
5 Then Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
Og Moses førte deres sak frem for Herrens åsyn.
6 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Da sa Herren til Moses:
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speake right: thou shalt giue them a possession to inherite among their fathers brethren, and shalt turne the inheritance of their father vnto them.
Selofhads døtre har rett i det de sier; du skal gi dem eiendom til arv blandt deres fars brødre og la deres fars arv gå over til dem.
8 Also thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die and haue no sonne, then ye shall turne his inheritaunce vnto his daughter.
Og til Israels barn skal du tale således: Når en mann dør, og han ingen sønn har, da skal I la hans arv gå over til hans datter.
9 And if he haue no daughter, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his brethren.
Og dersom han ingen datter har, så skal I gi hans brødre hans arv.
10 And if he haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his fathers brethren.
Og dersom han ingen brødre har, så skal I gi hans fars brødre hans arv.
11 And if his father haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his next kinsman of his familie, and he shall possesse it: and this shall be vnto the children of Israel a law of iudgement, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.
Men dersom hans far ingen brødre har, så skal I gi hans arv til den nærmeste frende i ætten; han skal arve den. Dette skal være gjeldende rett blandt Israels barn, således som Herren har befalt Moses.
12 Againe the Lord said vnto Moses, Go vp into this mount of Abarim, and behold ye lande which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel.
Siden sa Herren til Moses: Stig op på Abarim-fjellet her og se utover landet som jeg har gitt Israels barn!
13 And when thou hast seene it, thou shalt be gathered vnto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
Og når du har sett det, da skal du og samles til dine fedre likesom din bror Aron blev samlet til sine fedre,
14 For ye were disobedient vnto my worde in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assemblie, to sanctifie me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wildernesse of Zin.
fordi I var. gjenstridige mot mitt ord i ørkenen Sin, dengang menigheten kivedes med mig, og I skulde helliget mig ved å la vann strømme frem for deres øine. Det er Meribas vann ved Kades i ørkenen Sin.
15 Then Moses spake vnto the Lord, saying,
Da talte Moses til Herren og sa:
16 Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man ouer the Congregation,
Herre, du Gud som råder over livsens ånde i alt kjød, vil du ikke sette en mann over menigheten,
17 Who may goe out and in before them, and leade them out and in, that the Congregation of the Lord be not as sheepe, which haue not a shepheard.
som kan gå ut og inn foran dem, og som kan føre dem ut og føre dem inn, så Herrens menighet ikke skal være som får uten hyrde!
18 And the Lord said vnto Moses, Take thee Ioshua the sonne of Nun, in whom is the Spirite, and put thine handes vpon him,
Og Herren sa til Moses: Ta Josva, Nuns sønn. Han er en mann som det er ånd i. Legg din hånd på ham,
19 And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation, and giue him a charge in their sight.
og still ham frem for Eleasar, presten, og for hele menigheten og innsett ham i hans tjeneste for deres øine,
20 And giue him of thy glory, that all the Congregation of ye children of Israel may obey.
og legg noget av din verdighet på ham, så hele Israels barns menighet må lyde ham!
21 And he shall stande before Eleazar the Priest, who shall aske counsell for him by the iudgement of Vrim before the Lord: at his worde they shall goe out, and at his worde they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation.
Og han skal stå frem for Eleasar, presten, og Eleasar skal for Herrens åsyn søke urims dom for ham; efter hans ord skal de gå ut, og efter hans ord skal de gå inn, han selv med alle Israels barn og hele menigheten.
22 So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he tooke Ioshua, and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation.
Så gjorde Moses som Herren hadde befalt ham; han tok Josva og stilte ham frem for Eleasar, presten, og for hele menigheten,
23 Then he put his handes vpon him, and gaue him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.
og han la sine hender på ham og innsatte ham i hans tjeneste, således som Herren hadde talt ved Moses.
