Numbers 27

1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the sonne of Hepher, the sonne of Gilead, the sonne of Machir, the sonne of Manasseh, of the familie of Manasseh, the sonne of Ioseph (and the names of his daughters were these, Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)

Da traten herzu die Töchter Zelophhads, des Sohnes Hephers, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, aus den Geschlechtern Manasses, des Sohnes Josephs; und die Namen seiner Töchter waren Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka und Thirza.

2 And stoode before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assemblie, at the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,

Die traten also vor Mose und vor den Priester Eleasar, vor die Stammesfürsten und die ganze Gemeinde am Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes und sagten:

3 Our father dyed in the wildernes, and he was not among the assemblie of them that were assembled against the Lord in the companie of Korah, but died in his sinne, and had no sonnes.

»Unser Vater ist in der Wüste gestorben, hat aber nicht zu der Rotte derer gehört, die sich gegen den HERRN zusammengetan haben, zu der Rotte Korahs, sondern er ist wegen seiner eigenen Sündhaftigkeit gestorben, ohne Söhne zu hinterlassen.

4 Wherefore should the name of our father be taken away from among his familie, because he hath no sonne? giue vs a possession among the brethren of our father.

Warum soll nun der Name unseres Vaters aus seinem Geschlecht gestrichen werden, weil er keinen Sohn gehabt hat? Gib uns einen Erbbesitz unter den Geschlechtsgenossen unseres Vaters!«

5 Then Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

Als nun Mose ihre Rechtssache dem HERRN (zur Entscheidung) vorlegte,

6 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

gab der HERR dem Mose folgenden Bescheid:

7 The daughters of Zelophehad speake right: thou shalt giue them a possession to inherite among their fathers brethren, and shalt turne the inheritance of their father vnto them.

»Die Töchter Zelophhads haben recht; du sollst ihnen daher unweigerlich einen Erbbesitz unter den Geschlechtsgenossen ihres Vaters geben und sollst den ihrem Vater zustehenden Erbbesitz auf sie übergehen lassen.

8 Also thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die and haue no sonne, then ye shall turne his inheritaunce vnto his daughter.

Den Israeliten aber sollst du folgende Verordnung kundtun: ›Wenn ein Mann stirbt, ohne einen Sohn zu hinterlassen, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz auf seine Tochter übergehen lassen;

9 And if he haue no daughter, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his brethren.

und wenn er keine Tochter hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz seinen Brüdern geben;

10 And if he haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his fathers brethren.

wenn er auch keine Brüder hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz den Brüdern seines Vaters geben;

11 And if his father haue no brethren, ye shall giue his inheritance vnto his next kinsman of his familie, and he shall possesse it: and this shall be vnto the children of Israel a law of iudgement, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.

und wenn sein Vater keine Brüder hat, so sollt ihr seinen Erbbesitz seinem nächsten Blutsverwandten aus seinem Geschlecht geben, damit er ihn in Besitz nimmt.‹« Dies soll für die Israeliten eine Rechtsbestimmung sein, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hat.

12 Againe the Lord said vnto Moses, Go vp into this mount of Abarim, and behold ye lande which I haue giuen vnto the children of Israel.

Hierauf gebot der HERR dem Mose: »Steige auf das Gebirge Abarim hier und sieh dir das Land an, das ich für die Israeliten bestimmt habe.

13 And when thou hast seene it, thou shalt be gathered vnto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

Wenn du es dir angeschaut hast, sollst auch du zu deinen Volksgenossen versammelt werden, wie dein Bruder Aaron zu ihnen bereits versammelt worden ist,

14 For ye were disobedient vnto my worde in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assemblie, to sanctifie me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wildernesse of Zin.

weil ihr in der Wüste Zin, als die Gemeinde mit mir haderte, meinem Geheiß, mich durch Beschaffung von Wasser vor ihnen zu verherrlichen, nicht nachgekommen seid« – das bezieht sich auf das Haderwasser von Kades in der Wüste Zin.

15 Then Moses spake vnto the Lord, saying,

Da antwortete Mose dem HERRN folgendermaßen:

16 Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man ouer the Congregation,

»Gott, der HERR über Leben und Tod alles Fleisches, wolle einen Mann über die Gemeinde bestellen,

17 Who may goe out and in before them, and leade them out and in, that the Congregation of the Lord be not as sheepe, which haue not a shepheard.

der an ihrer Spitze aus- und einziehe, der sie ins Feld hinausführe und wieder zurückführe, damit die Gemeinde des HERRN nicht wie eine Herde ohne Hirten sei!«

18 And the Lord said vnto Moses, Take thee Ioshua the sonne of Nun, in whom is the Spirite, and put thine handes vpon him,

Da gebot der HERR dem Mose: »Nimm Josua zu dir, den Sohn Nuns, einen Mann, in dem (mein) Geist wohnt, und lege deine Hand fest auf ihn;

19 And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation, and giue him a charge in their sight.

laß ihn dann vor den Priester Eleasar und vor die ganze Gemeinde treten, setze ihn vor ihren Augen in sein Amt ein

20 And giue him of thy glory, that all the Congregation of ye children of Israel may obey.

und teile ihm etwas von deiner Hoheit mit, damit die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten ihm gehorsam ist.

21 And he shall stande before Eleazar the Priest, who shall aske counsell for him by the iudgement of Vrim before the Lord: at his worde they shall goe out, and at his worde they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation.

Er soll sich dann (bei jeder Gelegenheit) an den Priester Eleasar wenden, damit dieser für ihn das Urim-Orakel vor dem HERRN befragt: nach dessen Weisung sollen sie zum Kampf ausziehen und ebenso nach dessen Weisung wieder heimkehren, er und alle Israeliten mit ihm, überhaupt die ganze Gemeinde.«

22 So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he tooke Ioshua, and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation.

Mose tat, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte: er nahm Josua, ließ ihn vor den Priester Eleasar und vor die ganze Gemeinde treten,

23 Then he put his handes vpon him, and gaue him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.

legte dann seine Hände fest auf ihn und setzte ihn so in sein Amt ein, wie der HERR es durch Mose angeordnet hatte.
