Numbers 25
1 Nowe whiles Israel abode in Shittim, the people began to commit whoredome with the daughters of Moab:
Și Israel a locuit în Sitim și poporul a început să curvească cu fiicele lui Moab.
2 Which called the people vnto the sacrifice of their gods, and the people ate, and bowed downe to their gods.
Și ei au chemat poporul la sacrificiile dumnezeilor lor; și poporul a mâncat și s-a prosternat dumnezeilor lor.
3 And Israel coupled himselfe vnto Baal Peor: wherefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel:
Și Israel s-a alăturat de Baal-Peor și mânia DOMNULUI s-a aprins împotriva lui Israel.
4 And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Take all the heades of the people, and hang them vp before the Lord against ye sunne, that the indignation of the Lords wrath may be turned from Israel.
Şi DOMNUL i-a spus lui Moise: Ia pe toate căpeteniile poporului şi spânzură-le înaintea DOMNULUI în faţa soarelui, ca mânia înverşunată a DOMNULUI să se abată de la Israel.
5 Then Moses sayd vnto the Iudges of Israel, Euery one slay his men that were ioyned vnto Baal Peor.
Și Moise a spus judecătorilor lui Israel: Fiecare să ucidă pe oamenii săi care s-au alipit de Baal-Peor.
6 And behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought vnto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the Congregation of the children of Israel, who wept before the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.
Și, iată, unul dintre copiii lui Israel a venit și a adus, la frații săi, o femeie madianită, înaintea ochilor lui Moise și înaintea ochilor întregii adunări a copiilor lui Israel, care plângeau înaintea ușii tabernacolului întâlnirii.
7 And when Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the Priest sawe it, hee rose vp from the middes of the Congregation, and tooke a speare in his hand,
Și când Fineas, fiul lui Eleazar, fiul preotului Aaron, a văzut, s-a ridicat din mijlocul adunării și a luat o lance în mâna sa;
8 And followed ye man of Israel into the tent, and thrust them both through: to wit, the man of Israel, and the woman, through her belly: so the plague ceased from the children of Israel.
Și a mers după bărbatul lui Israel în cort și i-a străpuns pe amândoi, pe bărbatul din Israel și pe femeie prin pântecele ei. Astfel plaga a fost oprită de la copiii lui Israel.
9 And there died in that plague, foure and twentie thousand.
Și cei ce au murit în plagă au fost douăzeci și patru de mii.
10 Then the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Și DOMNUL i-a vorbit lui Moise, spunând:
11 Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron the Priest, hath turned mine anger away from the children of Israel, while hee was zealous for my sake among them: therefore I haue not consumed the children of Israel in my ielousie.
Fineas, fiul lui Eleazar, fiul preotului Aaron, a abătut furia mea de la copiii lui Israel, în timp ce era zelos pentru mine, printre ei, astfel că nu am mistuit pe copiii lui Israel în gelozia mea.
12 Wherefore say to him, Beholde, I giue vnto him my couenant of peace,
Pentru aceasta spune: Iată, îi dau legământul meu de pace,
13 And he shall haue it, and his seede after him, euen the couenant of the priestes office for euer, because he was zealous for his God, and hath made an atonement for the children of Israel.
Și să îl aibă el și sămânța lui după el, chiar legământul unei preoții veșnice, pentru că a fost zelos pentru Dumnezeul său și a făcut ispășire pentru copiii lui Israel.
14 And the name of the Israelite thus slayne, which was killed with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri the sonne of Salu, prince of the familie of the Simeonites.
Și numele israelitului care a fost ucis, adică cel ucis împreună cu femeia madianită, era Zimri, fiul lui Salu, un prinț al unei case părintești printre simeoniți.
15 And the name of the Midianitish woman, that was slayne, was Cozbi the daughter of Zur, who was head ouer the people of his fathers house in Midian.
Și numele femeii madianite care a fost ucisă era Cozbi, fiica lui Țur; el era cap peste un popor și a unei case părintești în Madian.
16 Againe ye Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Și DOMNUL i-a vorbit lui Moise, spunând:
17 Vexe the Midianites, and smite them:
Vatămă-i pe madianiți și lovește-i;
18 For they trouble you with their wiles, wherewith they haue beguiled you as concerning Peor, and as concerning their sister Cozbi ye daughter of a prince of Midian, which was slayne in the day of the plague because of Peor.
Pentru că ei te-au vătămat cu uneltirile lor, cu care te-au înșelat în lucrarea lui Peor și în lucrarea lui Cozbi, fiica unui prinț din Madian, sora lor, care a fost ucisă în ziua plăgii, venite din cauza lui Peor.
