Numbers 25
1 Nowe whiles Israel abode in Shittim, the people began to commit whoredome with the daughters of Moab:
Als aber die Israeliten sich in Sittim niedergelassen hatten, fing das Volk an, mit den Moabitinnen Unzucht zu treiben.
2 Which called the people vnto the sacrifice of their gods, and the people ate, and bowed downe to their gods.
Diese luden das Volk zu den Opferfesten ihrer Götter ein, und das Volk nahm an ihren Opfermahlen teil und betete ihre Götter an.
3 And Israel coupled himselfe vnto Baal Peor: wherefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel:
Als nun die Israeliten sich so an Baal-Peor gehängt hatten, entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen Israel,
4 And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Take all the heades of the people, and hang them vp before the Lord against ye sunne, that the indignation of the Lords wrath may be turned from Israel.
so daß der HERR dem Mose gebot: »Nimm alle Häupter des Volkes und hänge sie angesichts der Sonne auf, damit der lodernde Zorn des HERRN sich von Israel abwende.«
5 Then Moses sayd vnto the Iudges of Israel, Euery one slay his men that were ioyned vnto Baal Peor.
Da befahl Mose den Richtern der Israeliten: »Tötet ein jeder diejenigen von seinen Leuten, die sich an Baal-Peor gehängt haben!«
6 And behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought vnto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the Congregation of the children of Israel, who wept before the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.
Da kam gerade einer von den Israeliten (ins Lager) und brachte eine Midianitin zu seinen Volksgenossen mit vor den Augen Moses und vor den Augen der ganzen Gemeinde der Israeliten, während diese am Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes wehklagten.
7 And when Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the Priest sawe it, hee rose vp from the middes of the Congregation, and tooke a speare in his hand,
Als Pinehas, der Sohn des Priesters Eleasar, des Sohnes Aarons, das sah, trat er aus der Mitte der Gemeinde heraus, nahm einen Speer in seine Hand,
8 And followed ye man of Israel into the tent, and thrust them both through: to wit, the man of Israel, and the woman, through her belly: so the plague ceased from the children of Israel.
ging dann dem Israeliten in das Schlafgemach nach und durchbohrte beide, den israelitischen Mann und das Weib, und zwar letzteres durch ihren Unterleib. Da wurde dem Sterben unter den Israeliten Einhalt getan.
9 And there died in that plague, foure and twentie thousand.
Es belief sich aber die Zahl derer, die durch das Sterben umgekommen waren, auf 24000.
10 Then the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Hierauf sagte der HERR zu Mose:
11 Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron the Priest, hath turned mine anger away from the children of Israel, while hee was zealous for my sake among them: therefore I haue not consumed the children of Israel in my ielousie.
»Pinehas, der Sohn des Priesters Eleasar, des Sohnes Aarons, hat meinen Zorn von den Israeliten dadurch abgewandt, daß er denselben Eifer, der mir eigen ist, unter ihnen bewiesen hat; darum habe ich die Israeliten trotz meines Eifers nicht ganz vertilgt.
12 Wherefore say to him, Beholde, I giue vnto him my couenant of peace,
So mache denn bekannt: Ich schließe hierdurch mit ihm meinen Bund, daß ihm Heil widerfahren soll;
13 And he shall haue it, and his seede after him, euen the couenant of the priestes office for euer, because he was zealous for his God, and hath made an atonement for the children of Israel.
und zwar soll ihm und seinen Nachkommen nach ihm das Priestertum auf ewige Zeiten zustehen, zum Lohn dafür, daß er für seinen Gott geeifert und den Israeliten Sühne erwirkt hat.«
14 And the name of the Israelite thus slayne, which was killed with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri the sonne of Salu, prince of the familie of the Simeonites.
Der damals getötete Israelit aber, der mitsamt der Midianitin getötet worden war, hieß Simri; er war der Sohn Salus und das Haupt eines Geschlechts der Simeoniten;
15 And the name of the Midianitish woman, that was slayne, was Cozbi the daughter of Zur, who was head ouer the people of his fathers house in Midian.
die damals getötete Midianitin aber hieß Kosbi; sie war die Tochter Zurs, des Hauptes einer Familie, eines midianitischen Geschlechts.
16 Againe ye Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Darauf gebot der HERR dem Mose folgendes:
17 Vexe the Midianites, and smite them:
»Behandelt die Midianiter als Feinde und erschlagt sie!
18 For they trouble you with their wiles, wherewith they haue beguiled you as concerning Peor, and as concerning their sister Cozbi ye daughter of a prince of Midian, which was slayne in the day of the plague because of Peor.
Denn sie haben feindlich gegen euch gehandelt durch ihre Ränke, die sie gegen euch verübt haben in betreff des Peor und in betreff ihrer Landsmännin Kosbi, der Tochter eines midianitischen Fürsten, die am Tage des wegen des Peor verhängten Sterbens getötet worden ist.«
