Numbers 17
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
2 Speake vnto the children of Israel, and take of euery one of them a rod, after the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the familie of their fathers, euen twelue rods: and thou shalt write euery mans name vpon his rod.
Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et prends d’eux une verge selon les maisons de leurs pères, soit douze verges de la part de tous leurs princes selon les maisons de leurs pères.
3 And write Aarons name vpon the rod of Leui: for euery rodde shalbe for the head of the house of their fathers.
Tu écriras le nom de chacun sur sa verge, et tu écriras le nom d’Aaron sur la verge de Lévi; car il y aura une verge pour chaque chef des maisons de leurs pères.
4 And thou shalt put them in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before the Arke of the Testimonie, where I wil declare my selfe to you.
Tu les déposeras dans la tente d’assignation, devant le témoignage, où je me rencontre avec vous.
5 And the mans rod, whome I chuse, shall blossome: and I will make cease from mee the grudgings of the children of Israel, which grudge against you.
L’homme que je choisirai sera celui dont la verge fleurira, et je ferai cesser de devant moi les murmures que profèrent contre vous les enfants d’Israël.
6 Then Moses spake vnto the children of Israel, and al their princes gaue him a rod, one rod for euery Prince, according to the houses of their fathers, euen twelue rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their roddes.
Moïse parla aux enfants d’Israël; et tous leurs princes lui donnèrent une verge, chaque prince une verge, selon les maisons de leurs pères, soit douze verges; la verge d’Aaron était au milieu des leurs.
7 And Moses layde the rods before the Lord in the Tabernacle of the Testimonie.
Moïse déposa les verges devant l’Éternel, dans la tente du témoignage.
8 And when Moses on the morow went into the Tabernacle of the Testimonie, beholde, the rod of Aaron for the house of Leui was budded, and brought forth buddes, and brought forth blossoms, and bare ripe almondes.
Le lendemain, lorsque Moïse entra dans la tente du témoignage, voici, la verge d’Aaron, pour la maison de Lévi, avait fleuri, elle avait poussé des boutons, produit des fleurs, et mûri des amandes.
9 Then Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord vnto all the children of Israel: and they looked vpon them, and tooke euery man his rodde.
Moïse ôta de devant l’Éternel toutes les verges, et les porta à tous les enfants d’Israël, afin qu’ils les vissent et qu’ils prissent chacun leur verge.
10 After, the Lord said vnto Moses, Bring Aarons rod againe before the Testimonie to bee kept for a token to the rebellious children, and thou shalt cause their murmurings to cease from me, that they dye not.
L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Reporte la verge d’Aaron devant le témoignage, pour être conservée comme un signe pour les enfants de rébellion, afin que tu fasses cesser de devant moi leurs murmures et qu’ils ne meurent point.
11 So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him: so did he.
Moïse fit ainsi; il se conforma à l’ordre que l’Éternel lui avait donné.
12 And the children of Israel spake vnto Moses, saying, Behold, we are dead, we perish, we are all lost:
Les enfants d’Israël dirent à Moïse: Voici, nous expirons, nous périssons, nous périssons tous!
13 Whosoeuer commeth neere, or approcheth to the Tabernacle of the Lord, shall dye: shall we be consumed and dye?
Quiconque s’approche du tabernacle de l’Éternel, meurt. Nous faudra-t-il tous expirer?
