Numbers 17
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse, disant:
2 Speake vnto the children of Israel, and take of euery one of them a rod, after the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the familie of their fathers, euen twelue rods: and thou shalt write euery mans name vpon his rod.
Parle aux fils d’Israël, et prends d’eux, de tous leurs princes, selon leurs maisons de pères, une verge par maison de père, douze verges; tu écriras le nom de chacun sur sa verge;
3 And write Aarons name vpon the rod of Leui: for euery rodde shalbe for the head of the house of their fathers.
et tu écriras le nom d’Aaron sur la verge de Lévi; car il y aura une verge pour [chaque] chef de leurs maisons de pères.
4 And thou shalt put them in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before the Arke of the Testimonie, where I wil declare my selfe to you.
Et tu les poseras dans la tente d’assignation, devant le témoignage, où je me rencontre avec vous.
5 And the mans rod, whome I chuse, shall blossome: and I will make cease from mee the grudgings of the children of Israel, which grudge against you.
Et il arrivera que la verge de l’homme que j’ai choisi bourgeonnera; et je ferai cesser de devant moi les murmures des fils d’Israël, par lesquels ils murmurent contre vous.
6 Then Moses spake vnto the children of Israel, and al their princes gaue him a rod, one rod for euery Prince, according to the houses of their fathers, euen twelue rods, and the rod of Aaron was among their roddes.
Et Moïse parla aux fils d’Israël; et tous leurs princes lui donnèrent une verge, une verge pour chaque prince, selon leurs maisons de pères: douze verges; et la verge d’Aaron était au milieu de ces verges.
7 And Moses layde the rods before the Lord in the Tabernacle of the Testimonie.
Et Moïse posa les verges devant l’Éternel, dans la tente du témoignage.
8 And when Moses on the morow went into the Tabernacle of the Testimonie, beholde, the rod of Aaron for the house of Leui was budded, and brought forth buddes, and brought forth blossoms, and bare ripe almondes.
Et il arriva, le lendemain, que Moïse entra dans la tente du témoignage, et voici, la verge d’Aaron, pour la maison de Lévi, avait bourgeonné, et avait poussé des boutons, et avait produit des fleurs et mûri des amandes.
9 Then Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord vnto all the children of Israel: and they looked vpon them, and tooke euery man his rodde.
Et Moïse porta toutes les verges de devant l’Éternel à tous les fils d’Israël; et ils les virent, et reprirent chacun sa verge.
10 After, the Lord said vnto Moses, Bring Aarons rod againe before the Testimonie to bee kept for a token to the rebellious children, and thou shalt cause their murmurings to cease from me, that they dye not.
Et l’Éternel dit à Moïse: Reporte la verge d’Aaron devant le témoignage, pour être gardée comme un signe aux fils de rébellion; et tu feras cesser leurs murmures de devant moi, et ils ne mourront pas.
11 So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him: so did he.
Et Moïse fit comme l’Éternel lui avait commandé; il fit ainsi.
12 And the children of Israel spake vnto Moses, saying, Behold, we are dead, we perish, we are all lost:
Et les fils d’Israël parlèrent à Moïse, disant: Voici, nous expirons, nous périssons, nous périssons tous!
13 Whosoeuer commeth neere, or approcheth to the Tabernacle of the Lord, shall dye: shall we be consumed and dye?
Quiconque s’approche en aucune manière du tabernacle de l’Éternel, meurt; faut-il donc que nous expirions tous?
