Numbers 14
1 Then all ye Congregation lifted vp their voice, and cryed: and the people wept that night,
Και πάσα η συναγωγή υψώσασα την φωνήν αυτής εβόησε· και έκλαυσεν ο λαός την νύκτα εκείνην.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron: and the whole assemblie said vnto them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt, or in this wildernesse: would God we were dead.
Και πάντες οι υιοί Ισραήλ εγόγγυζον κατά του Μωϋσέως και του Ααρών, και είπε προς αυτούς πάσα η συναγωγή, Είθε να απεθνήσκομεν εν γη Αιγύπτου· ή εν τη ερήμω ταύτη είθε να απεθνήσκομεν·
3 Wherefore nowe hath the Lord brought vs into this lande to fall vpon the sworde? our wiues, and our children shall be a pray: were it not better for vs to returne into Egypt?
και διά τι μας έφερεν ο Κύριος εις την γην ταύτην να πέσωμεν διά μαχαίρας, να γείνωσι διαρπαγή αι γυναίκες και τα τέκνα ημών; δεν ήτο καλήτερον εις ημάς να επιστρέψωμεν εις την Αίγυπτον;
4 And they said one to another, Let vs make a Captaine and returne into Egypt.
Και έλεγεν ο εις προς τον άλλον, Ας κάμωμεν αρχηγόν και ας επιστρέψωμεν εις την Αίγυπτον.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assemblie of the Congregation of the children of Israel.
Τότε έπεσεν ο Μωϋσής και ο Ααρών κατά πρόσωπον αυτών ενώπιον όλου του πλήθους της συναγωγής των υιών Ισραήλ.
6 And Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh two of them that searched the lande, rent their clothes,
Και Ιησούς ο υιός του Ναυή και Χάλεβ ο υιός του Ιεφοννή, εκ των κατασκοπευσάντων την γην, διέσχισαν τα ιμάτια αυτών·
7 And spake vnto all the assemblie of the childre of Israel, saying, The land which we walked through to search it, is a very good lande.
και είπον προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν των υιών Ισραήλ λέγοντες, Η γη, την οποίαν διεπεράσαμεν διά να κατασκοπεύσωμεν αυτήν, είναι γη αγαθή σφόδρα σφόδρα·
8 If the Lord loue vs, he will bring vs into this land, and giue it vs, which is a land that floweth with milke and honie.
εάν ο Κύριος ευαρεστήται εις ημάς, τότε θέλει φέρει εμάς εις την γην ταύτην και θέλει δώσει αυτήν εις ημάς, γην ρέουσαν γάλα και μέλι·
9 But rebell not ye against the Lord, neither feare ye the people of the land: for they are but bread for vs: their shielde is departed from the, and the Lord is with vs, feare them not.
μόνον μη αποστατείτε κατά του Κυρίου μηδέ φοβείσθε τον λαόν της γής· διότι αυτοί είναι ψωμίον δι' ημάς· η σκέπη αυτών απεσύρθη επάνωθεν αυτών, και ο Κύριος είναι μεθ' ημών· μη φοβείσθε αυτούς.
10 And all the multitude saide, Stone them with stones: but the glory of the Lord appeared in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before all the children of Israel.
Και είπε πάσα η συναγωγή να λιθοβολήσωσιν αυτούς με λίθους· Και η δόξα του Κυρίου επεφάνη επί τη σκηνή του μαρτυρίου εις πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ.
11 And the Lord said vnto Moses, How long will this people prouoke me, and howe long will it be, yer they beleeue me, for al the signes which I haue shewed among them?
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Έως πότε θέλει με παροργίζει ο λαός ούτος; και έως πότε δεν θέλουσι πιστεύει εις εμέ, μετά πάντα τα σημεία τα οποία έκαμα εν μέσω αυτών;
12 I will smite them with the pestilence and destroy them, and will make thee a greater nation and mightier then they.
θέλω πατάξει αυτούς με θανατικόν και θέλω εξολοθρεύσει αυτούς, και σε θέλω κάμει εις έθνος μεγαλήτερον και δυνατώτερον αυτών.
13 But Moses saide vnto the Lord, When the Egyptians shall heare it, (for thou broughtest this people by thy power from among them)
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Κύριον, Τότε η Αίγυπτος θέλει ακούσει διότι συ ανεβίβασας τον λαόν τούτον εν τη δυνάμει σου εκ μέσου αυτών·
14 Then they shall say to the inhabitants of this land, (for they haue heard that thou, Lord, art among this people, and that thou, Lord, art seene face to face, and that thy cloude standeth ouer them, and that thou goest before them by day time in a pillar of a cloude, and in a pillar of fire by night)
και θέλουσιν ειπεί τούτο προς τους κατοίκους της γης ταύτης· οίτινες ήκουσαν ότι συ, Κύριε, είσαι εν μέσω του λαού τούτου, ότι συ, Κύριε, φαίνεσαι πρόσωπον προς πρόσωπον, και η νεφέλη σου ίσταται επ' αυτούς, και συ προπορεύεσαι αυτών την ημέραν εν στύλω νεφέλης, την δε νύκτα εν στύλω πυρός.
15 That thou wilt kill this people as one man: so the heathen which haue heard the fame of thee, shall thus say,
Εάν λοιπόν θανατώσης τον λαόν τούτον ως ένα άνθρωπον, τότε τα έθνη, τα οποία ήκουσαν το όνομά σου, θέλουσιν ειπεί λέγοντες,
16 Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the lande, which he sware vnto them, therefore hath he slaine them in the wildernesse.
Επειδή δεν ηδύνατο ο Κύριος να φέρη τον λαόν τούτον εις την γην, την οποίαν ώμοσε προς αυτούς, διά τούτο κατέστρεψεν αυτούς εν τη ερήμω.
17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,
Και τώρα, δέομαί σου, ας μεγαλυνθή η δύναμις του Κυρίου μου καθ' ον τρόπον είπας λέγων,
18 The Lord is slowe to anger, and of great mercie, and forgiuing iniquitie, and sinne, but not making the wicked innocent, and visiting the wickednes of the fathers vpon the children, in the thirde and fourth generation:
Ο Κύριος είναι μακρόθυμος και πολυέλεος, συγχωρών ανομίαν και παράβασιν, και όστις κατ' ουδένα τρόπον δεν θέλει αθωώσει τον ένοχον, ανταποδίδων την ανομίαν των πατέρων επί τα τέκνα έως τρίτης και τετάρτης γενεάς.
19 Be mercifull, I beseech thee, vnto the iniquitie of this people, according to thy great mercie, and as thou hast forgiuen this people from Egypt, euen vntill nowe.
Συγχώρησον, δέομαι, την ανομίαν του λαού τούτου κατά το μέγα έλεός σου και καθώς συνεχώρησας τον λαόν τούτον από της Αιγύπτου μέχρι του νυν.
20 And the Lord said, I haue forgiuen it, according to thy request.
Και είπε Κύριος, Συνεχώρησα αυτούς κατά τον λόγον σου·
21 Notwithstanding, as I liue, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.
αλλά ζω εγώ, και θέλει εμπλησθή πάσα η γη από της δόξης του Κυρίου.
22 For all those men which haue seene my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernes, and haue tempted me this ten times, and haue not obeyed my voyce,
Επειδή πάντες οι άνδρες, οι ιδόντες την δόξαν μου και τα σημείά μου, τα οποία έκαμον εν τη Αιγύπτω και εν τη ερήμω, με παρώργισαν ήδη δεκάκις και δεν υπήκουσαν εις την φωνήν μου,
23 Certainely they shall not see the lande, whereof I sware vnto their fathers: neither shall any that prouoke me, see it.
βεβαίως δεν θέλουσιν ιδεί την γην, την οποίαν ώμοσα προς τους πατέρας αυτών· ουδείς εκ των παροργισάντων με θέλει ιδεί αυτήν.
24 But my seruant Caleb, because he had another spirite, and hath followed me stil, euen him will I bring into the lande, whither he went, and his seede shall inherite it.
Τον δε δούλον μου Χάλεβ, επειδή έχει εν εαυτώ άλλο πνεύμα και με ηκολούθησεν εντελώς, τούτον θέλω φέρει εις την γην εις την οποίαν εισήλθε, και το σπέρμα αυτού θέλει κληρονομήσει αυτήν.
25 Nowe the Amalekites and the Canaanites remaine in the valley: wherefore turne backe to morowe, and get you into the wildernesse, by the way of the red Sea.
Οι δε Αμαληκίται και οι Χαναναίοι κατοικούσιν εν τη κοιλάδι. Αύριον στρέψατε και υπάγετε εις την έρημον κατά την οδόν της Ερυθράς θαλάσσης.
26 After, the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν και προς τον Ααρών λέγων,
27 How long shall I suffer this wicked multitude to murmure against me? I haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmure against me.
Έως πότε θέλω υποφέρει την συναγωγήν ταύτην την πονηράν, όσα αυτοί γογγύζουσιν εναντίον μου; ήκουσα τους γογγυσμούς των υιών Ισραήλ, τους οποίους γογγύζουσιν εναντίον μου.
28 Tell them, As I liue (saith the Lord) I wil surely do vnto you, euen as ye haue spoken in mine eares.
Ειπέ προς αυτούς, Ζω εγώ, λέγει ο Κύριος, καθώς σεις ελαλήσατε εις τα ώτα μου, ούτω βεβαίως θέλω κάμει εις εσάς·
29 Your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes, and all you that were counted through all your nombers, from twentie yeere olde and aboue, which haue murmured against me,
τα πτώματά σας θέλουσι πέσει εν τη ερήμω ταύτη· και πάντες οι απηριθμημένοι από σας καθ' όλον τον αριθμόν σας, από είκοσι ετών και επάνω, όσοι εγόγγυσαν εναντίον μου,
30 Ye shall not doubtles come into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hande, to make you dwell therein, saue Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun.
βεβαίως δεν θέλετε εισέλθει σεις εις την γην, περί της οποίας ώμοσα να σας κατοικίσω εν αυτή, εκτός του Χάλεβ υιού του Ιεφοννή και του Ιησού υιού του Ναυή·
31 But your children, (which ye said shoulde be a pray) them will I bring in, and they shall knowe the lande which ye haue refused:
αλλά τα παιδία σας, τα οποία είπετε ότι θέλουσι γίνει εις διαρπαγήν, ταύτα θέλω εισαγάγει, και θέλουσι γνωρίσει την γην την οποίαν σεις κατεφρονήσατε·
32 But euen your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes,
τα δε πτώματα υμών θέλουσι πέσει εν τη ερήμω ταύτη·
33 And your children shall wander in the wildernesse, fourtie yeeres, and shall beare your whoredomes, vntill your carkeises be wasted in the wildernesse.
και τα τέκνα σας θέλουσι περιπλανάσθαι εν τη ερήμω τεσσαράκοντα έτη και θέλουσι φέρει εαυτά την ποινήν της πορνείας σας, εωσού διαφθαρώσι τα πτώματά σας εν τη ερήμω·
34 After the number of the dayes, in the which ye searched out the lande, euen fourtie dayes, euery day for a yeere, shall ye beare your iniquity, for fourtie yeeres, and ye shall feele my breach of promise.
κατά τον αριθμόν των ημερών εις τας οποίας κατεσκοπεύσατε την γην, ημέρας τεσσαράκοντα, εκάστης ημέρας λογιζομένης δι' εν έτος, τεσσαράκοντα έτη θέλετε φέρει εφ' εαυτούς τας ανομίας σας, και θέλετε γνωρίσει την εγκατάλειψίν μου.
35 I the Lord haue said, Certainely I will doe so to all this wicked company, that are gathered together against me: for in this wildernesse they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
Εγώ ο Κύριος ελάλησα· βεβαίως θέλω κάμει τούτο εις πάσαν την συναγωγήν την πονηράν ταύτην, την επισυνηγμένην επ' εμέ· εν τη ερήμω ταύτη θέλουσιν εξολοθρευθή και εκεί θέλουσιν αποθάνει.
36 And the men which Moses had sent to search the land (which, when they came againe, made all the people to murmure against him, and brought vp a slander vpon the lande)
Και οι άνθρωποι, τους οποίους απέστειλεν ο Μωϋσής διά να κατασκοπεύσωσι την γην, οίτινες επιστρέψαντες έκαμον πάσαν την συναγωγήν να γογγύση εναντίον αυτού, δυσφημούντες την γην,
37 Euen those men that did bring vp that vile slander vpon the land, shall die by a plague before the Lord.
και οι άνθρωποι εκείνοι, οίτινες εδυσφήμησαν την γην, απέθανον εν τη πληγή ενώπιον του Κυρίου.
38 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh, of those men that went to search the land, shall liue.
Ιησούς δε ο υιός του Ναυή και Χάλεβ ο υιός του Ιεφοννή έζησαν, εκ των ανθρώπων εκείνων οίτινες υπήγαν να κατασκοπεύσωσι την γην.
39 Then Moses tolde these sayings vnto all the children of Israel, and the people sorowed greatly.
Και ελάλησεν ο Μωϋσής τους λόγους τούτους προς πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ· και επένθησεν ο λαός σφόδρα.
40 And they rose vp earely in the morning, and gate them vp into the toppe of the mountaine, saying, Loe, we be readie, to goe vp to the place which the Lord hath promised: for wee haue sinned.
Και σηκωθέντες ενωρίς το πρωΐ, ανέβησαν εις την κορυφήν του όρους, λέγοντες, Ιδού, ημείς, και θέλομεν αναβή εις τον τόπον τον οποίον μας υπεσχέθη ο Κύριος· διότι ημαρτήσαμεν.
41 But Moses said, Wherefore transgresse yee thus the commandement of the Lord? it will not so come well to passe.
Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Διά τι σεις παραβαίνετε την προσταγήν του Κυρίου; τούτο βεβαίως δεν θέλει ευοδοθή·
42 Goe not vp (for the Lord is not among you) lest ye be ouerthrowe before your enemies.
μη αναβαίνετε· διότι δεν είναι ο Κύριος μεθ' υμών· διά να μη κτυπηθήτε έμπροσθεν των εχθρών σας·
43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sworde: for in as much as ye are turned away from the Lord, the Lord also will not be with you.
διότι οι Αμαληκίται και οι Χαναναίοι είναι εκεί έμπροσθέν σας και θέλετε πέσει εν μαχαίρα· επειδή εξεκλίνατε από του Κυρίου, διά τούτο ο Κύριος δεν θέλει είσθαι μεθ' υμών.
44 Yet they presumed obstinately to goe vp to the top of the mountaine: but the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and Moses departed not out of the campe.
Αλλ' αυτοί απετόλμησαν να αναβώσιν εις την κορυφήν του όρους· η κιβωτός όμως της διαθήκης του Κυρίου και ο Μωϋσής δεν εκινήθησαν εκ μέσου του στρατοπέδου.
45 Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites, which dwelt in that mountaine, came downe and smote them, and consumed them vnto Hormah.
Τότε οι Αμαληκίται και οι Χαναναίοι οι κατοικούντες εν τω όρει εκείνω, κατέβησαν και επάταξαν αυτούς και κατεδίωξαν αυτούς έως Ορμά.
