Numbers 13
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
És szóla az Úr Mózesnek, mondván:
2 Sende thou men out to search the lande of Canaan which I giue vnto the children of Israel: of euery tribe of their fathers shall ye sende a man, such as are all rulers among them.
Küldj férfiakat, hogy kémleljék meg a Kanaán földét, a melyet én adok Izráel fiainak; az ő atyáiknak mindenik törzséből egy-egy férfiút küldjetek, mind olyat, a ki főember közöttök.
3 Then Moses sent them out of the wildernesse of Paran at the commandement of the Lord: all those men were heades of the children of Israel.
Elküldé azért őket Mózes Párán pusztájából az Úr rendelése szerint; és azok a férfiak mindnyájan főemberek valának Izráel fiai között.
4 Also their names are these: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the sonne of Zaccur:
Ezek pedig azoknak nevei: A Rúben nemzetségéből Sámmua, a Zakhúr fia.
5 Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the sonne of Hori:
A Simeon nemzetségéből Safát, a Hóri fia.
6 Of the tribe of Iudah, Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh:
A Júda nemzetségéből Káleb, a Jefunné fia.
7 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the sonne of Ioseph:
Az Izsakhár nemzetségéből Igál, a József fia.
8 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the sone of Nun:
Az Efraim nemzetségéből Hósea, a Nún fia.
9 Of the tribe of Beniamin, Palti the sonne of Raphu:
A Benjámin nemzetségéből Pálthi, a Rafú fia.
10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the sone of Sodi:
A Zebulon nemzetségéből Gaddiel, a Szódi fia.
11 Of the tribe of Ioseph, to wit, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the sonne of Susi:
A József nemzetségéből, a Manasse nemzetségéből Gaddi, a Szúszi fia.
12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the sonne of Gemalli:
A Dán nemzetségéből Ammiél, a Gemálli fia.
13 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the sonne of Michael:
Az Áser nemzetségéből Szenthúr, a Mikaél fia.
14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the sonne of Vophsi:
A Nafthali nemzetségéből Nahbi, a Vofszi fia.
15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the sonne of Machi.
A Gád nemzetségéből Géuel, a Mákhi fia.
16 These are the names of the men, which Moses sent to spie out the lande: and Moses called ye name of Oshea the sonne of Nun, Iehoshua.
Ezek ama férfiaknak nevei, a kiket elküldött Mózes a földnek megkémlelésére. És nevezé Mózes Hóseát, a Nún fiát Józsuénak.
17 So Moses sent them to spie out the lande of Canaan, and said vnto them, Go vp this way toward the South, and go vp into the moutaines,
És mikor elküldé őket Mózes a Kanaán földének megkémlelésére, monda nékik: Menjetek fel erre dél felől, és hágjatok fel a hegyre.
18 And consider the land what it is, and the people that dwel therein, whether they be strong or weake, either fewe or many,
És nézzétek meg a földet, hogy milyen az; és a népet, a mely lakozik azon: erős-é az vagy erőtlen, kevés-é az vagy sok?
19 Also what the lande is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad: and what cities they be, that they dwell in, whether they dwell in tents, or in walled townes:
És milyen a föld, a melyben lakozik az: jó-é az vagy hitvány; és milyenek a városok, a melyekben lakozik: táborokban vagy erősségekben lakozik-é?
20 And what the land is: whether it be fat or leane, whether there be trees therein, or not. And be of good courage, and bring of the fruite of the lande (for then was the time of the first ripe grapes)
És milyen a föld: kövér-é az, vagy sovány; van-é abban élőfa vagy nincs? És legyetek bátorságosok, és szakaszszatok a földnek gyümölcséből. Azok a napok pedig a szőlőzsendülés napjai valának.
21 So they went vp, and searched out the lande, from the wildernesse of Zin vnto Rehob, to go to Hamath,
Felmenének azért, és megkémlelék a földet a Czin pusztájától fogva mind Rehóbig, odáig, a hol Hamáthba mennek.
22 And they ascended toward the South, and came vnto Hebron, where were Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak. And Hebron was built seuen yeere before Zoan in Egypt.
És felmenének dél felől, és jutának Hebronig; valának pedig ott Ahimán, Sésai és Thalmai, az Anák fiai: (Hebron pedig hét esztendővel építtetett elébb, mint az égyiptomi Czoán).
23 Then they came to the riuer of Eshcol, and cut downe thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it vpon a barre betweene two, and brought of the pomegranates and of the figges.
Mikor pedig eljutának Eskol völgyéig, lemetszének ott egy szőlővesszőt egy szőlőfürttel, és ketten vivék azt rúdon; és a gránátalmákból és a figékből is szakasztának.
24 That place was called the riuer Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes, which the children of Israel cut downe thence.
Azt a helyet elnevezék Eskol völgyének; a szőlőfürtért, a melyet lemetszettek vala onnét Izráel fiai.
25 Then after fourtie dayes, they turned againe from searching of the land.
És visszatérének a föld megkémleléséből negyven nap mulva.
26 And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and vnto al the Congregation of the children of Israel, in the wildernesse of Paran, to Kadesh, and brought to the, and to all the Congregation tydings, and shewed them the fruite of the lande.
És menének, és jutának Mózeshez és Áronhoz, és Izráel fiainak egész gyülekezetéhez, Párán pusztájába, Kádesbe; és hírt vivének nékik és az egész gyülekezetnek, és megmutaták nékik a földnek gyümölcsét.
27 And they tolde him, and saide, We came vnto the land whither thou hast sent vs, and surely it floweth with milke and honie: and here is of the fruite of it.
Így beszélének néki, és ezt mondák: Elmentünk vala arra a földre, a melyre küldöttél vala minket, és bizonyára tejjel és mézzel folyó az, és ez annak gyümölcse!
28 Neuerthelesse the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled and exceeding great: and moreouer, we sawe the sonnes of Anak there.
Csakhogy erős az a nép, a mely lakja azt a földet, és a városok erősítve vannak, és felette nagyok; sőt még Anák fiait is láttuk ott.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the South countrey, and the Hittites, and the Iebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountaines, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Iorden.
Amálek lakik a dél felől való földön, és Khitteus, Jebuzeus és Emoreus lakik a hegyeken; a tenger mellett, és a Jordán partján pedig Kananeus lakik.
30 Then Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and saide, Let vs go vp at once, and possesse it: for vndoubtedly we shall ouercome it.
És jóllehet Káleb csendesíté a Mózes ellen háborgó népet, és azt mondja vala: Bátran felmehetünk, és elfoglalhatjuk azt a földet, mert kétség nélkül megbírunk azzal;
31 But the men, that went vp with him, saide, we be not able to goe vp against the people: for they are stronger then we.
Mindazáltal a férfiak, a kik felmentek vala vele, azt mondják vala: Nem mehetünk fel az ellen a nép ellen, mert erősebb az nálunknál.
32 So they brought vp an euill report of the land which they had searched for the children of Israel, saying, The lande which we haue gone through to search it out, is a land that eateth vp the inhabitants thereof: for all the people that we sawe in it, are men of great stature.
És rossz hírét vivék annak a földnek, a melyet megkémleltek volt, Izráel fiaihoz, mondván: Az a föld, a melyen általmentünk, hogy megkémleljük azt, olyan föld, a mely megemészti az ő lakóit; az egész nép is, a melyet láttunk azon, szálas emberekből áll.
33 For there we sawe gyants, the sonnes of Anak, which come of the gyants, so that we seemed in our sight like grashoppers: and so wee were in their sight.
És láttunk ott óriásokat is, az óriások közül való Anáknak fiait, és olyanok valánk a magunk szemében, mint a sáskák, és az ő szemeikben is olyanok valánk.
