Numbers 13
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Und Jehova redete zu Mose und sprach:
2 Sende thou men out to search the lande of Canaan which I giue vnto the children of Israel: of euery tribe of their fathers shall ye sende a man, such as are all rulers among them.
Sende dir Männer aus, daß sie das Land Kanaan auskundschaften, welches ich den Kindern Israel gebe; je einen Mann für den Stamm seiner Väter sollt ihr aussenden, jeder ein Fürst unter ihnen.
3 Then Moses sent them out of the wildernesse of Paran at the commandement of the Lord: all those men were heades of the children of Israel.
Und Mose sandte sie aus der Wüste Paran nach dem Befehl Jehovas, allesamt Männer, welche Häupter der Kinder Israel waren.
4 Also their names are these: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the sonne of Zaccur:
Und dies sind ihre Namen: für den Stamm Ruben, Schammua, der Sohn Sakkurs;
5 Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the sonne of Hori:
für den Stamm Simeon, Schaphath, der Sohn Choris;
6 Of the tribe of Iudah, Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh:
für den Stamm Juda, Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes;
7 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the sonne of Ioseph:
für den Stamm Issaschar, Jigal, der Sohn Josephs;
8 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the sone of Nun:
für den Stamm Ephraim, Hosea, der Sohn Nuns;
9 Of the tribe of Beniamin, Palti the sonne of Raphu:
für den Stamm Benjamin, Palti, der Sohn Raphus;
10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the sone of Sodi:
für den Stamm Sebulon, Gaddiel, der Sohn Sodis;
11 Of the tribe of Ioseph, to wit, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the sonne of Susi:
für den Stamm Joseph, für den Stamm Manasse, Gaddi, der Sohn Susis;
12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the sonne of Gemalli:
für den Stamm Dan, Ammiel, der Sohn Gemallis;
13 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the sonne of Michael:
für den Stamm Aser, Sethur, der Sohn Michaels;
14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the sonne of Vophsi:
für den Stamm Naphtali, Nachbi, der Sohn Waphsis;
15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the sonne of Machi.
für den Stamm Gad, Geuel, der Sohn Makis.
16 These are the names of the men, which Moses sent to spie out the lande: and Moses called ye name of Oshea the sonne of Nun, Iehoshua.
Das sind die Namen der Männer, welche Mose aussandte, um das Land auszukundschaften. Und Mose nannte Hosea, [H. Hoschea: Rettung] den Sohn Nuns, Josua. [S. 2. Mose 17,9]
17 So Moses sent them to spie out the lande of Canaan, and said vnto them, Go vp this way toward the South, and go vp into the moutaines,
Und Mose sandte sie, um das Land Kanaan auszukundschaften, und sprach zu ihnen: Ziehet hier hinauf an der Südseite, [O. durch das Land des Südens; so auch v 22] und steiget auf das Gebirge,
18 And consider the land what it is, and the people that dwel therein, whether they be strong or weake, either fewe or many,
und besehet das Land, wie es ist; und das Volk, das darin wohnt, ob es stark oder schwach, ob es gering oder zahlreich ist;
19 Also what the lande is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad: and what cities they be, that they dwell in, whether they dwell in tents, or in walled townes:
und wie das Land ist, in welchem es wohnt, ob es gut oder schlecht ist; und wie die Städte sind, in denen es wohnt, ob es in Lagern oder in Festungen wohnt;
20 And what the land is: whether it be fat or leane, whether there be trees therein, or not. And be of good courage, and bring of the fruite of the lande (for then was the time of the first ripe grapes)
und wie das Land ist, ob es fett oder mager ist, ob Bäume darin sind oder nicht. Und fasset Mut und nehmet von der Frucht des Landes. Die Tage aber waren die Tage der ersten Trauben.
21 So they went vp, and searched out the lande, from the wildernesse of Zin vnto Rehob, to go to Hamath,
Und sie zogen hinauf und kundschafteten das Land aus, von der Wüste Zin bis Rechob, wenn man nach Hamath geht.
22 And they ascended toward the South, and came vnto Hebron, where were Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak. And Hebron was built seuen yeere before Zoan in Egypt.
Und sie zogen an der Südseite hinauf und kamen bis Hebron, und daselbst waren Achiman, Scheschai und Talmai, die Kinder Enaks. Hebron aber war sieben Jahre vor Zoan in Ägypten erbaut worden.
23 Then they came to the riuer of Eshcol, and cut downe thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it vpon a barre betweene two, and brought of the pomegranates and of the figges.
Und sie kamen bis in das Tal [Das hebr. Wort bezeichnet allgemein alle Wildbäche und Flüsse Palästinas, und zwar sowohl den Fluß selbst, als auch die Schlucht oder das Tal, in welchem er fließt] Eskol [Traube] und schnitten daselbst eine Rebe mit einer Weintraube ab und trugen sie zu zweien an einer Stange, auch Granatäpfel und Feigen.
24 That place was called the riuer Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes, which the children of Israel cut downe thence.
Jenen Ort nannte man Tal Eskol wegen der Traube, welche die Kinder Israel daselbst abgeschnitten hatten.
25 Then after fourtie dayes, they turned againe from searching of the land.
Und sie kehrten nach Verlauf von vierzig Tagen vom Auskundschaften des Landes zurück.
26 And they went and came to Moses and to Aaron and vnto al the Congregation of the children of Israel, in the wildernesse of Paran, to Kadesh, and brought to the, and to all the Congregation tydings, and shewed them the fruite of the lande.
Und sie gingen und kamen zu Mose und zu Aaron und zu der ganzen Gemeinde der Kinder Israel in die Wüste Paran nach Kades; und sie brachten ihnen und der ganzen Gemeinde Bescheid und zeigten ihnen die Frucht des Landes.
27 And they tolde him, and saide, We came vnto the land whither thou hast sent vs, and surely it floweth with milke and honie: and here is of the fruite of it.
Und sie erzählten ihm und sprachen: Wir sind in das Land gekommen, wohin du uns gesandt hast; und wirklich, es fließt von Milch und Honig, und dies ist seine Frucht.
28 Neuerthelesse the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled and exceeding great: and moreouer, we sawe the sonnes of Anak there.
Nur daß das Volk stark ist, welches in dem Lande wohnt, und die Städte befestigt, sehr groß; und auch die Kinder Enaks haben wir dort gesehen.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the South countrey, and the Hittites, and the Iebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountaines, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Iorden.
Amalek wohnt im Lande des Südens, und die Hethiter und die Jebusiter und die Amoriter wohnen auf dem Gebirge, und die Kanaaniter wohnen am Meere und an der Seite des Jordan.
30 Then Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and saide, Let vs go vp at once, and possesse it: for vndoubtedly we shall ouercome it.
Und Kaleb beschwichtigte das Volk gegen Mose und sprach: Laßt uns nur hinaufziehen und es in Besitz nehmen, denn wir werden es gewißlich überwältigen.
31 But the men, that went vp with him, saide, we be not able to goe vp against the people: for they are stronger then we.
Aber die Männer, die mit ihm hinaufgezogen waren, sprachen: Wir vermögen nicht gegen das Volk hinaufzuziehen, denn es ist stärker als wir.
32 So they brought vp an euill report of the land which they had searched for the children of Israel, saying, The lande which we haue gone through to search it out, is a land that eateth vp the inhabitants thereof: for all the people that we sawe in it, are men of great stature.
Und sie brachten unter die Kinder Israel ein böses Gerücht über das Land aus, das sie ausgekundschaftet hatten, und sprachen: Das Land, welches wir durchzogen haben, um es auszukundschaften, ist ein Land, das seine Bewohner frißt; und alles Volk, das wir darin gesehen haben, sind Leute von hohem Wuchse;
33 For there we sawe gyants, the sonnes of Anak, which come of the gyants, so that we seemed in our sight like grashoppers: and so wee were in their sight.
auch haben wir dort die Riesen [H. Nephilim; kommt nur in diesem Verse und in 1. Mose 6,4 vor] gesehen, die Kinder Enaks, von den Riesen; und wir waren in unseren Augen wie Heuschrecken, und also waren wir auch in ihren Augen.
