Nehemiah 4
1 But when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, then was he wroth and sore grieued, and mocked the Iewes,
Då nu Saneballat hörde, att vi byggde murarna, vardt han vred, och förgrymmade sig svårliga; och han bespottade Judarna;
2 And sayde before his brethren and the armie of Samaria, thus he sayde, What doe these weake Iewes? wil they fortifie them selues? wil they sacrifice? will they finish it in a day? will they make the stones whole againe out of the heapes of dust, seeing they are burnt?
Och sade för sina bröder, och för de väldiga i Samarien: Hvad göra de vanmägtige Judar? Månn man så skola låta betämma dem? Månn de skola offra? Månn de skola en dag fullkomna det? Månn de göra stenarna lefvande af stofthopar, som förbrände äro?
3 And Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and said, Although they buylde, yet if a foxe goe vp, he shall euen breake downe their stonie wall.
Men Tobia den Ammoniten, som när honom var, sade: Låt bygga dem; när räfvarna löpa ditupp, skola de väl sönderrifva deras stenmurar.
4 Heare, O our God (for we are despised) and turne their shame vpon their owne head, and giue them vnto a pray in the lande of their captiuitie,
Hör, vår Gud, huru föraktade äre vi; vänd deras försmädelse in uppå deras hufvud, så att du gifver dem uti föraktelse i deras fängelses lande.
5 And couer not their iniquitie, neither let their sinne be put out in thy presence: for they haue prouoked vs before the builders.
Öfverskyl icke deras missgerning, och bortskrapa icke deras synd för dig; förty de hafva rett byggningsmännerna.
6 So we built the wall, and all the wall was ioyned vnto the halfe thereof, and the heart of the people was to worke.
Men vi byggde murarna, och fogde dem alla tillhopa intill halfva höjd; och folket fick hjerta till att arbeta.
7 But when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodims heard that the walles of Ierusalem were repayred, (for the breaches began to be stopped) then they were very wroth,
Då nu Saneballat och Tobia, och de Araber och Ammoniter, och Asdoditer hörde, att murarna i Jerusalem voro igenbyggde, och de hade begynt igentäppa det öppet var, vordo de ganska vrede;
8 And conspired all together to come and to fight against Ierusalem, and to hinder them.
Och gjorde alla ett förbund tillhopa, att de skulle komma och strida emot Jerusalem, och göra en villo derinne.
9 The we prayed vnto our God, and set watchmen by them, day and night, because of them.
Men vi bådom vår Gud, och satte vakt uppå dem dag och natt, emot dem.
10 And Iudah said, The strength of the bearers is weakened, and there is much earth, so that we are not able to build the wall.
Och Juda sade: Dragarenas magt är allt för svag, och gruset är för mycket; vi kunne icke bygga uppå murenom.
11 Also our aduersaries had sayde, They shall not knowe, neither see, till we come into the middes of them and slay them, and cause the worke to cease.
Men våre fiender tänkte: De skola icke få vetat, eller set, förr än vi komme midt i hopen uppå dem, och slå dem ihjäl, och förhindre arbetet.
12 But when the Iewes (which dwelt beside them) came, they told vs ten times, From all places whence ye shall returne, they wil be vpon vs.
Då nu Judarna, som när dem bodde, kommo, och sade oss det väl tio gånger, af all rum, der de omkring oss bodde;
13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall vpon the toppes of the stones, and placed the people by their families, with their swordes, their speares and their bowes.
Då satte jag nedre utmed muren i grafvene folket, efter deras slägter, med deras svärd, spetsar och bågar.
14 Then I behelde, and rose vp, and said vnto the Princes, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not afrayde of them: remember the great Lord, and fearefull, and fight for your brethren, your sonnes, and your daughters, your wiues, and your houses.
Och besåg det, och stod upp, och sade till rådherrarna, och öfverstarna, och till det andra folket: Frukter eder intet för dem; tänker uppå den stora förskräckeliga Herran, och strider för edra bröder, söner, döttrar, hustrur och hus.
15 And when our enemies heard that it was knowen vnto vs, then God brought their counsell to nought, and we turned all againe to the wall, euery one vnto his worke.
Då nu våre fiender hörde, att vi hade fått vetat, gjorde Gud deras råd omintet; och vi vände oss åter alle till muren, hvar och en till sitt arbete.
16 And from that day, halfe of the yong men did the labour, and the other halfe part of them helde the speares, and shieldes, and bowes, and habergins: and the rulers stoode behinde all the house of Iudah.
Och det skedde sedan, att hälften af de unga män gjorde arbetet; den andre hälften höllo spetsar, sköldar, bågar, och pansar; och öfverstarne stodo bakför hela Juda hus.
17 They that buylded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, and they that laded, did the worke with one hand, and with the other helde the sworde.
De som byggde på muren, och de som båro bördor ifrå dem som uppå ladde; med den ena handene gjorde de arbetet, och med den andra höllo de värjona.
18 For euery one of the buylders had his sworde girded on his loynes, and so buylded: and he that blewe the trumpet, was beside me.
Och hvar och en af dem, som byggde, hade sitt svärd bundet vid sidona, och byggde så; och den som blåste med basunen, var när mig.
19 Then saide I vnto the Princes, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The worke is great and large, and we are separated vpon the wall, one farre from another.
Och jag sade till rådherrarna, och öfverstarna, och till det andra folket: Arbetet är stort och vidt, och vi äre förströdde på murenom, långt ifrå hvarannan.
20 In what place therefore ye heare the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither vnto vs: our God shall fight for vs.
På hvilket rum I nu hören blåsa i basunen, dit kommer till oss. Vår Gud varder för oss stridandes;
21 So we laboured in the worke, and halfe of them helde the speares, from the appearing of the morning, till the starres came foorth.
Och vi vilje arbeta på verket; och hälften af dem höll spetsar, allt ifrå morgonrodnan intill stjernorna uppgingo.
22 And at the same time said I vnto the people, Let euery one with his seruant lodge within Ierusalem, that they may be a watch for vs in the night, and labour in the day.
Ock sade jag på den tiden till folket: Hvar och en blifve med sinom dräng öfver natten i Jerusalem, att vi om nattena tage vara på vaktena, och om dagen på arbetet.
23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my seruants, nor the men of the warde, (which followed me) none of vs did put off our clothes, saue euery one put them off for washing.
Men jag och mine bröder, och mine tjenare, och de män i vaktene efter mig, drogo intet vår kläder af, när någor i vattnet gick.
