Nehemiah 13

1 And on that day did they reade in the booke of Moses, in the audience of the people, and it was found written therein, that the Ammonite, and the Moabite should not enter into the Congregation of God,

Ese día hubo una lectura del libro de Moisés en la audiencia del pueblo; y vieron que en el libro se decía que ningún amonita o moabita podría entrar en la reunión de Dios;

2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: and our God turned the curse into a blessing.

Porque no les dieron pan y agua a los hijos de Israel cuando vinieron a ellos, sino que hicieron que Balaam los maldijera; aunque la maldición fue convertida en bendición por nuestro Dios.

3 Now when they had heard the Lawe, they separated from Israel all those that were mixed.

Entonces, después de escuchar la ley, sacaron de Israel a todas las personas que se habían mezclado con los extranjeros.

4 And before this had the Priest Eliashib the ouersight of the chamber of the house of our God, being kinsman to Tobiah:

Antes de esto, el sacerdote Eliasib, que había sido colocado sobre las habitaciones de la casa de nuestro Dios, siendo amigo de Tobías,

5 And he had made him a great chamber and there had they aforetime layde the offringes, the incense, and the vessels, and the tithes of corne, of wine, and of oyle (appointed for the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters) and the offringes of the Priests.

le había preparado una gran sala, donde en un momento guardaron las ofrendas de comida, el perfume y los vasos y las décimas del grano, el vino y el aceite que se entregaban por orden a los levitas y los cantores y los encargados de las puertas, y las ofrendas levantadas para los sacerdotes.

6 But in all this time was not I in Ierusalem: for in the two and thirtieth yere of Artahshashte King of Babel, came I vnto the King, and after certaine dayes I obteined of the King.

Pero todo este tiempo no estuve en Jerusalén; en el año treinta y dos de Artajerjes, rey de Babilonia, fui al rey; y después de algunos días, conseguí que el rey me dejara ir,

7 And when I was come to Ierusalem, I vnderstood the euil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in that hee had made him a chamber in the court of the house of God,

Y llegué a Jerusalén; y me quedó claro la maldad que Eliasib había hecho por Tobías, al prepararle una habitación en los atrios del templo de Dios.

8 And it grieued me sore: therefore I cast forth all the vessels of the house of Tobiah out of the chamber.

Y me dolió mucho, así que todas las cosas de Tobías fueron sacadas de la habitación.

9 And I commanded them to clense ye chambers: and thither brought I againe the vessels of the house of God with the meate offring and the incense.

Entonces di órdenes y purificaron las habitaciones; volví a poner en ellos los vasos de la casa de Dios, con las ofrendas de comida y él incienso.

10 And I perceiued that the portions of the Leuites had not bene giuen, and that euery one was fled to his lande, euen the Leuites and singers that executed the worke.

Y vi que a los levitas no se les había dado lo que se necesitaba para su apoyo; de modo que los levitas y los cantores, encargados del culto, se habían ido, todos a su campo.

11 Then reproued I the rulers and sayd, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I assembled them, and set them in their place.

Entonces hice protestas a los jefes y dije: ¿Por qué han abandonado la casa de Dios? Y los junté y los puse en sus lugares.

12 Then brought all Iudah the tithes of corne and of wine, and of oyle vnto the treasures.

Entonces vino todo Judá con la décima parte del grano, el vino y el aceite, y lo puso en los almacenes.

13 And I made treasurers ouer the treasures, Shelemiah the Priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Leuites, Pedaiah, and vnder their hande Hanan the sonne of Zaccur the sonne of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithfull, and their office was to distribute vnto their brethren.

Hice controladores en los almacenes, el sacerdote Selemias y Sadoc el escriba, y de los levitas, Pedaías, y con ellos estaba Hanan, el hijo de Zacur, hijo de Matanías; fueron tomados por fieles. Ellos hacían la distribución de las raciones a sus hermanos.

14 Remember me, O my God, herein, and wipe not out my kindenes that I haue shewed on the house of my God, and on the offices thereof.

Ten en mente, oh Dios mío, en relación con esto y no borres el bien que he hecho por la casa de mi Dios y su servicio.

15 In those dayes saw I in Iudah them, that trode wine presses on ye Sabbath, and that brought in sheaues, and which laded asses also with wine, grapes, and figges, and all burdens, and brought them into Ierusalem vpon the Sabbath day: and I protested to them in the day that they sold vitailes.

En aquellos días, vi en Judá a algunos que estaban triturando uvas en el día de reposo, y metían grano y lo ponían en asnos; así como vino y uvas e higos y todo tipo de bienes que llevaron a Jerusalén el día de reposo y di testimonio contra ellos el día en que comercializaban alimentos.

16 There dwelt men of Tyrus also therein, which brought fish and all wares, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah euen in Ierusalem.

Y allí había hombres de Tiro, que venían con peces y toda clase de bienes, que comerciaban en sábado con los hijos de Judá y en Jerusalén.

17 Then reprooued I the rulers of Iudah, and sayd vnto them, What euil thing is this that yee doe, and breake the Sabbath day?

Entonces hice protestas a los jefes de Judá, y les dije: ¿Qué es este mal que están haciendo, no santificando el día de reposo?

18 Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought all this plague vpon vs, and vpon this citie? yet yee increase the wrath vpon Israel, in breaking the Sabbath.

. ¿No hicieron lo mismo tus padres, y nuestro Dios no envió todo este mal sobre nosotros y sobre este pueblo? pero estás causando más ira sobre Israel al no santificar el sábado.

19 And when the gates of Ierusalem beganne to be darke before the Sabbath, I commaded to shut the gates, and charged, that they should not be opened til after the Sabbath, and some of my seruants set I at the gates, that there shoulde no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.

Entonces, cuando las calles de Jerusalén se oscurecían antes del sábado, di órdenes para que las puertas se cerraran y no se volvieran a abrir hasta después del sábado, y puse a algunos de mis sirvientes en la puerta para que no entrara ninguna carga en el día de reposo.

20 So the chapmen and marchants of al marchandise remained once or twise all night without Ierusalem.

Así que los comerciantes de todo tipo de bienes tomaron su descanso nocturno fuera de Jerusalén una o dos veces.

21 And I protested among them, and said vnto them, Why tary ye all night about the wall? If ye do it once againe, I will lay hands vpon you. from that time came they no more on the Sabbath.

Entonces di testimonio contra ellos y dije: ¿Por qué esperaste toda la noche junto al muro? Si vuelves a hacerlo te haré prisioneros. Desde ese momento no volvieron a venir en sábado.

22 And I sayde vnto the Leuites, that they should clense themselues, and that they shoulde come and keepe the gates, to sanctifie the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and pardon me according to thy great mercy.

Y les di a los levitas la orden de purificarse, venir, guardar las puertas y santificar el sábado. Ten esto en mente para mi crédito, oh Dios mío, y ten piedad de mí, porque grande es tu misericordia.

23 In those dayes also I saw Iewes that married wiues of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab.

Y en esos días vi a los judíos que estaban casados con mujeres de Asdod, Amón y Moab;

24 And their children spake halfe in ye speach of Ashdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, and according to the language of the one people, and of the other people.

Y sus hijos hablaban a medias en el lenguaje de Asdod; no tenían conocimiento de la lengua de los judíos, pero hicieron uso de la lengua de cada pueblo.

25 Then I reprooued them, and cursed them, and smote certaine of them, and pulled off their heare, and tooke an othe of them by God, Yee shall not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take of their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor for your selues.

Reñí con ellos, maldiciéndolos y dando golpes a algunos de ellos y arrancándoles el pelo; y les hice jurar por Dios, diciendo: No deben entregar a sus hijas a sus hijos o tomar a sus hijas por sus hijos o para ustedes mismos.

26 Did not Salomon the king of Israel sinne by these thinges? yet among many nations was there no King like him: for he was beloued of his God, and God had made him King ouer Israel: yet strange women caused him to sinne.

¿No fue esta la razón por la cual Salomón, rey de Israel, cometió un error? entre varias naciones no había rey como él, y él era querido por su Dios, y Dios lo hizo rey sobre todo Israel, pero incluso las mujeres extranjeras lo hicieron hacer el mal.

27 Shall wee then obey vnto you, to doe all this great euil, and to transgresse against our God, euen to marry strange wiues?

¿Entonces, sin protestar, te dejamos hacer todo este gran mal, pecando contra nuestro Dios al tomar mujeres extranjeras por esposas?

28 And one of the sonnes of Ioiada the sonne of Eliashib the hie Priest was the sonne in law of Sanballat the Horonite: but I chased him from me.

Y uno de los hijos de Joiada, el hijo de Eliasib, el principal sacerdote, era yerno de Sanbalat el horonita; lo envié lejos de mí.

29 Remember them, O my God, that defile the Priesthoode, and the couenant of the Priesthoode, and of the Leuites.

Tenlos en mente, oh Dios mío, porque han avergonzado el nombre de los sacerdotes y el pacto de los sacerdotes y los levitas.

30 Then cleansed I them from all strangers, and appoynted the wardes of the Priestes and of the Leuites, euery one in his office,

Así que los purifique, pues, de todas las personas extranjeras, y tuve guardias regulares para los sacerdotes y los levitas, por sus grupos, todos en su trabajo;

31 And for the offring of the wood at times appoynted, and for the first fruites. Remember me, O my God, in goodnes.

Y para la ofrenda de la leña, en tiempos fijos, y para los primeros frutos. Tenme presente, oh Dios mío, para bien.
