Nehemiah 13
1 And on that day did they reade in the booke of Moses, in the audience of the people, and it was found written therein, that the Ammonite, and the Moabite should not enter into the Congregation of God,
Naquele dia eles leram no livro de Moisés, na audiência do povo; e foi encontrado escrito nele que um amonita e um moabita não deveriam entrar para sempre na assembléia de Deus,
2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: and our God turned the curse into a blessing.
porque eles não encontraram os filhos de Israel com pão e água, mas contrataram Balaão contra eles para amaldiçoá-los; no entanto, nosso Deus transformou a maldição em uma bênção.
3 Now when they had heard the Lawe, they separated from Israel all those that were mixed.
Aconteceu, quando ouviram a lei, que separaram toda a multidão miscigenada de Israel.
4 And before this had the Priest Eliashib the ouersight of the chamber of the house of our God, being kinsman to Tobiah:
Agora antes disso, Eliasib o sacerdote, que foi nomeado sobre os quartos da casa de nosso Deus, sendo aliado de Tobias,
5 And he had made him a great chamber and there had they aforetime layde the offringes, the incense, and the vessels, and the tithes of corne, of wine, and of oyle (appointed for the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters) and the offringes of the Priests.
tinha preparado para ele um grande quarto, onde antes de colocarem as ofertas de refeição, o incenso, os vasos e os dízimos do grão, o vinho novo e o óleo, que eram dados por ordem aos levitas, aos cantores e aos porteiros; e as ofertas de ondas para os sacerdotes.
6 But in all this time was not I in Ierusalem: for in the two and thirtieth yere of Artahshashte King of Babel, came I vnto the King, and after certaine dayes I obteined of the King.
Mas em tudo isso, eu não estava em Jerusalém; pois no trigésimo segundo ano de Artaxerxes, rei da Babilônia, fui ao rei; e depois de alguns dias pedi licença ao rei,
7 And when I was come to Ierusalem, I vnderstood the euil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in that hee had made him a chamber in the court of the house of God,
e vim a Jerusalém, e compreendi o mal que Eliasibe havia feito por Tobias, ao preparar-lhe um quarto nas cortes da casa de Deus.
8 And it grieued me sore: therefore I cast forth all the vessels of the house of Tobiah out of the chamber.
Isso me entristeceu muito. Portanto, joguei todas as coisas da casa de Tobias fora da sala.
9 And I commanded them to clense ye chambers: and thither brought I againe the vessels of the house of God with the meate offring and the incense.
Então eu ordenei, e eles limparam os quartos. Trouxe para eles os vasos da casa de Deus, com as ofertas de refeição e o incenso de novo.
10 And I perceiued that the portions of the Leuites had not bene giuen, and that euery one was fled to his lande, euen the Leuites and singers that executed the worke.
Percebi que as porções dos Levitas não tinham sido dadas, de modo que os Levitas e os cantores, que faziam o trabalho, tinham cada um fugido para seu campo.
11 Then reproued I the rulers and sayd, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I assembled them, and set them in their place.
Então eu contendi com os governantes, e disse: “Por que a casa de Deus está abandonada”? Eu os reuni, e os coloquei em seu lugar.
12 Then brought all Iudah the tithes of corne and of wine, and of oyle vnto the treasures.
Então todo Judá trouxe o dízimo do grão, o vinho novo e o óleo para os tesouros.
13 And I made treasurers ouer the treasures, Shelemiah the Priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Leuites, Pedaiah, and vnder their hande Hanan the sonne of Zaccur the sonne of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithfull, and their office was to distribute vnto their brethren.
Fiz tesoureiros sobre os tesouros, Selemias, o sacerdote, e Zadoque, o escriba, e dos levitas, Pedaías: e ao lado deles estava Hanan, o filho de Zacur, o filho de Mattaniah; pois eles eram contados fiéis, e seu negócio era distribuir a seus irmãos.
14 Remember me, O my God, herein, and wipe not out my kindenes that I haue shewed on the house of my God, and on the offices thereof.
Lembre-se de mim, meu Deus, a respeito disso, e não apague minhas boas ações que fiz pela casa de meu Deus, e por suas observâncias.
15 In those dayes saw I in Iudah them, that trode wine presses on ye Sabbath, and that brought in sheaues, and which laded asses also with wine, grapes, and figges, and all burdens, and brought them into Ierusalem vpon the Sabbath day: and I protested to them in the day that they sold vitailes.
Naqueles dias, vi alguns homens pisando lagares de vinho no sábado em Judá, trazendo molhos e carregando burros com vinho, uvas, figos e todo tipo de cargas que eles traziam para Jerusalém no dia do sábado; e testemunhei contra eles no dia em que vendiam comida.
16 There dwelt men of Tyrus also therein, which brought fish and all wares, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah euen in Ierusalem.
Alguns homens de Tiro também viveram lá, que trouxeram peixes e todo tipo de mercadorias, e venderam no sábado para os filhos de Judá, e em Jerusalém.
17 Then reprooued I the rulers of Iudah, and sayd vnto them, What euil thing is this that yee doe, and breake the Sabbath day?
Então eu contendi com os nobres de Judá, e lhes disse: “Que mal é isso que vocês fazem, e profanam o Sábado?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought all this plague vpon vs, and vpon this citie? yet yee increase the wrath vpon Israel, in breaking the Sabbath.
Seus pais não fizeram isto e nosso Deus não trouxe todo este mal sobre nós e sobre esta cidade? No entanto, vocês trazem mais ira sobre Israel profanando o Sábado”.
19 And when the gates of Ierusalem beganne to be darke before the Sabbath, I commaded to shut the gates, and charged, that they should not be opened til after the Sabbath, and some of my seruants set I at the gates, that there shoulde no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.
Aconteceu que quando os portões de Jerusalém começaram a escurecer antes do sábado, eu ordenei que as portas fossem fechadas e ordenei que não fossem abertas até depois do sábado. Coloquei alguns de meus servos sobre os portões, para que nenhum fardo fosse trazido no dia de sábado.
20 So the chapmen and marchants of al marchandise remained once or twise all night without Ierusalem.
So os comerciantes e vendedores de todo tipo de mercadorias acampados fora de Jerusalém, uma ou duas vezes.
21 And I protested among them, and said vnto them, Why tary ye all night about the wall? If ye do it once againe, I will lay hands vpon you. from that time came they no more on the Sabbath.
Então eu testemunhei contra eles, e lhes disse: “Por que vocês ficam ao redor do muro? Se o fizerem novamente, eu lhes porei as mãos em cima”. A partir daquele momento, eles não vieram no sábado.
22 And I sayde vnto the Leuites, that they should clense themselues, and that they shoulde come and keepe the gates, to sanctifie the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and pardon me according to thy great mercy.
Eu ordenei aos Levitas que se purificassem e que viessem e guardassem os portões, para santificar o dia do sábado. Lembre-se de mim também para isto, meu Deus, e poupe-me de acordo com a grandeza de sua bondade amorosa.
23 In those dayes also I saw Iewes that married wiues of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab.
Naqueles dias eu também vi os judeus que tinham casado com mulheres de Ashdod, de Ammon e de Moab;
24 And their children spake halfe in ye speach of Ashdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, and according to the language of the one people, and of the other people.
e seus filhos falavam pela metade no discurso de Ashdod, e não podiam falar na língua dos judeus, mas de acordo com a língua de cada povo.
25 Then I reprooued them, and cursed them, and smote certaine of them, and pulled off their heare, and tooke an othe of them by God, Yee shall not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take of their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor for your selues.
Eu contendi com eles, amaldiçoei-os, golpeei alguns deles, arranquei-lhes os cabelos e os fiz jurar por Deus: “Não dareis vossas filhas a seus filhos, nem as tomareis por vossos filhos, nem por vós mesmos”.
26 Did not Salomon the king of Israel sinne by these thinges? yet among many nations was there no King like him: for he was beloued of his God, and God had made him King ouer Israel: yet strange women caused him to sinne.
Salomão, rei de Israel, não pecou por estas coisas? No entanto, entre muitas nações não havia rei como ele, e ele era amado por seu Deus, e Deus o fez rei sobre todo Israel. No entanto, mulheres estrangeiras causaram até mesmo a ele o pecado.
27 Shall wee then obey vnto you, to doe all this great euil, and to transgresse against our God, euen to marry strange wiues?
Devemos então ouvi-lo para fazer todo este grande mal, para transgredir nosso Deus ao casar com mulheres estrangeiras?”.
28 And one of the sonnes of Ioiada the sonne of Eliashib the hie Priest was the sonne in law of Sanballat the Horonite: but I chased him from me.
Um dos filhos de Joiada, o filho de Eliashib, o sumo sacerdote, era genro de Sanballat, o horonita; por isso o afugentei de mim.
29 Remember them, O my God, that defile the Priesthoode, and the couenant of the Priesthoode, and of the Leuites.
Lembre-se deles, meu Deus, porque contaminaram o sacerdócio e o convênio do sacerdócio e dos levitas.
30 Then cleansed I them from all strangers, and appoynted the wardes of the Priestes and of the Leuites, euery one in his office,
Thus Eu os limpei de todos os estrangeiros e os deveres designados para os sacerdotes e para os levitas, todos em seu trabalho;
31 And for the offring of the wood at times appoynted, and for the first fruites. Remember me, O my God, in goodnes.
e para a oferta de madeira, em horários designados, e para as primícias. Lembre-se de mim, meu Deus, para sempre.
