Nehemiah 13
1 And on that day did they reade in the booke of Moses, in the audience of the people, and it was found written therein, that the Ammonite, and the Moabite should not enter into the Congregation of God,
An jenem Tage wurde dem Volke aus dem Buche Mosis laut vorgelesen. Man fand da geschrieben, daß nie Ammoniter oder Moabiter in die Gemeinde Gottes kommen dürfen.
2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: and our God turned the curse into a blessing.
Sie hatten den Söhnen Israels nicht Brot noch Wasser angeboten, sondern den Bileam gedungen, sie zu verfluchen. Aber unser Gott wandelte den Fluch in Segen.
3 Now when they had heard the Lawe, they separated from Israel all those that were mixed.
Als sie die Lehre hörten, schieden sie alle Mischlinge aus Israel aus.
4 And before this had the Priest Eliashib the ouersight of the chamber of the house of our God, being kinsman to Tobiah:
Vordem war der Priester Eljasib, der über unseres Gotteshauses Zellen gesetzt war, mit dem Tobia verwandt geworden.
5 And he had made him a great chamber and there had they aforetime layde the offringes, the incense, and the vessels, and the tithes of corne, of wine, and of oyle (appointed for the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters) and the offringes of the Priests.
Er richtete ihm eine große Zelle ein, in der man sonst das Speiseopfer, den Weihrauch und die anderen Sachen tat, sowie den Zehnten von Korn, Most und Öl, Pflichtteil für die Leviten, Sänger und Torhüter und die Gaben für die Priester.
6 But in all this time was not I in Ierusalem: for in the two and thirtieth yere of Artahshashte King of Babel, came I vnto the King, and after certaine dayes I obteined of the King.
Ich bin während alldem nicht in Jerusalem gewesen. Denn im zweiunddreißigsten Jahre des Babelkönigs Artachsast war ich zum König gekommen. Nach einiger Zeit hatte ich mir aber vom König Urlaub genommen.
7 And when I was come to Ierusalem, I vnderstood the euil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in that hee had made him a chamber in the court of the house of God,
Dann kam ich wieder nach Jerusalem. Dann merkte ich den Frevel, den Eljasib Tobia zulieb verübt hatte, daß er ihm eine Zelle in den Höfen des Gotteshauses eingeräumt hatte.
8 And it grieued me sore: therefore I cast forth all the vessels of the house of Tobiah out of the chamber.
Dies empörte mich aufs tiefste. Und so warf ich alle Sachen aus dem Hause des Tobia, aus jener Zelle, auf die Straße.
9 And I commanded them to clense ye chambers: and thither brought I againe the vessels of the house of God with the meate offring and the incense.
Dann hieß ich die Zellen reinigen und brachte dorthin die Sachen aus dem Gotteshause, das Speiseopfer und den Weihrauch.
10 And I perceiued that the portions of the Leuites had not bene giuen, and that euery one was fled to his lande, euen the Leuites and singers that executed the worke.
Auch erfuhr ich, daß die Gaben an die Leviten nicht abgeliefert worden waren und daß von den Leviten und den Sängern, die den Dienst besorgen sollten, jeder auf sein Landgut gelaufen war.
11 Then reproued I the rulers and sayd, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I assembled them, and set them in their place.
Da schalt ich die Vorsteher und sprach: "Warum ist das Gotteshaus vernachlässigt?" Dann holte ich sie zusammen und stellte sie auf ihre Posten.
12 Then brought all Iudah the tithes of corne and of wine, and of oyle vnto the treasures.
Nun brachte ganz Juda den Zehnten von Korn, Most und Öl in die Speicher.
13 And I made treasurers ouer the treasures, Shelemiah the Priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Leuites, Pedaiah, and vnder their hande Hanan the sonne of Zaccur the sonne of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithfull, and their office was to distribute vnto their brethren.
Dann setzte ich über die Speicher den Priester Selemja, den Schreiber Sadok und von den Leviten Pedaja und als ihren Helfer Chanan, Zakkurs Sohn, den Enkel des Mattanja. Denn sie galten als zuverlässig. Ihre Pflicht war es, für ihre Brüder zu teilen.
14 Remember me, O my God, herein, and wipe not out my kindenes that I haue shewed on the house of my God, and on the offices thereof.
Gedenke mir dies, mein Gott, und lösche nicht meine guten Werke aus, die ich dem Hause meines Gottes und seinen Abteilungen getan habe!
15 In those dayes saw I in Iudah them, that trode wine presses on ye Sabbath, and that brought in sheaues, and which laded asses also with wine, grapes, and figges, and all burdens, and brought them into Ierusalem vpon the Sabbath day: and I protested to them in the day that they sold vitailes.
In jenen Tagen hatte ich in Judäa Leute gesehen, die am Sabbat Kelter traten und Korn einfuhren, die Esel beluden und Wein, Trauben, Feigen und allerlei Ware am Sabbattage nach Jerusalem einführten. Ich warnte um des Tages willen, an dem sie die Lebensmittel feilboten.
16 There dwelt men of Tyrus also therein, which brought fish and all wares, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah euen in Ierusalem.
Die Fremden, die darin wohnten, führten Fische und sonstige Ware ein und verkauften sie am Sabbattag den Söhnen Judas zu Jerusalem.
17 Then reprooued I the rulers of Iudah, and sayd vnto them, What euil thing is this that yee doe, and breake the Sabbath day?
Da schalt ich Judas Edle und sprach zu ihnen: "Welcher Frevel ist das, den ihr tut, daß ihr den Sabbattag entweiht?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought all this plague vpon vs, and vpon this citie? yet yee increase the wrath vpon Israel, in breaking the Sabbath.
Haben nicht also eure Väter getan? Da brachte unser Gott über uns und diese Stadt all dies Unheil. Wollt ihr über Israel noch mehr Zorn bringen, daß ihr den Sabbattag entweiht?"
19 And when the gates of Ierusalem beganne to be darke before the Sabbath, I commaded to shut the gates, and charged, that they should not be opened til after the Sabbath, and some of my seruants set I at the gates, that there shoulde no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.
Sobald nun vor dem Sabbat die Tore Jerusalems dunkelten, hieß ich die Tore schließen. Auch befahl ich, daß man sie vor Sabbatschluß nicht öffne. Ich stellte auch einige von meinen Knappen an die Tore, daß keine Ware am Sabbattag hereinkäme.
20 So the chapmen and marchants of al marchandise remained once or twise all night without Ierusalem.
So übernachteten die Händler und die Verkäufer von allerhand Waren draußen vor Jerusalem, so ein-, zweimal.
21 And I protested among them, and said vnto them, Why tary ye all night about the wall? If ye do it once againe, I will lay hands vpon you. from that time came they no more on the Sabbath.
Ich verwarnte sie und sprach zu ihnen: "Warum übernachtet ihr vor der Mauer? Tut ihr dies nochmals, dann lege ich Hand an euch." Von dieser Zeit an kamen sie nicht mehr am Sabbat.
22 And I sayde vnto the Leuites, that they should clense themselues, and that they shoulde come and keepe the gates, to sanctifie the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and pardon me according to thy great mercy.
Dann sagte ich den Leviten, sie sollten sich reinigen, hingehen und die Tore hüten, um den Sabbattag zu heiligen. Auch dies gedenke mir, mein Gott! Erbarm Dich meiner nach Deiner großen Huld!
23 In those dayes also I saw Iewes that married wiues of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab.
An jenen Tagen sah ich nach den Judäern, die asdoditische, ammonitische und moabitische Weiber heimgeführt hatten.
24 And their children spake halfe in ye speach of Ashdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, and according to the language of the one people, and of the other people.
Die Hälfte ihrer Kinder redete asdoditisch; aber jüdisch konnten sie nicht reden, sondern nur in der Sprache irgendeines Volkes.
25 Then I reprooued them, and cursed them, and smote certaine of them, and pulled off their heare, and tooke an othe of them by God, Yee shall not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take of their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor for your selues.
Da schalt ich sie und fluchte ihnen. Einige von ihnen schlug ich und zerzauste sie. Bei Gott beschwor ich sie: "Gebt nicht eure Töchter ihren Söhnen und nicht von ihren Töchtern euren Söhnen und nehmt euch selbst nicht solche!
26 Did not Salomon the king of Israel sinne by these thinges? yet among many nations was there no King like him: for he was beloued of his God, and God had made him King ouer Israel: yet strange women caused him to sinne.
Hat nicht um solcher willen Salomo, Israels König, gesündigt? Obwohl unter den vielen Völkern kein König gewesen wie er und er seines Gottes Liebling gewesen ist, so daß ihn Gott zum König über ganz Israel machte, so haben ihn doch die fremden Weiber zur Sünde verführt.
27 Shall wee then obey vnto you, to doe all this great euil, and to transgresse against our God, euen to marry strange wiues?
Ist es recht von euch, daß ihr all diesen großen Frevel tut und gegen unseren Gott untreu werdet durch Heimführung fremder Weiber?"
28 And one of the sonnes of Ioiada the sonne of Eliashib the hie Priest was the sonne in law of Sanballat the Horonite: but I chased him from me.
Von den Söhnen Jojadas, des Sohnes des Hohenpriesters Eljasib, war einer Schwiegersohn des Sanballat aus Choronaim. Ich jagte ihn von mir fort.
29 Remember them, O my God, that defile the Priesthoode, and the couenant of the Priesthoode, and of the Leuites.
Gedenke es ihnen, mein Gott, wie sie das Priestertum befleckt haben, den Bund des Priestertums und der Leviten!
30 Then cleansed I them from all strangers, and appoynted the wardes of the Priestes and of the Leuites, euery one in his office,
Von allem Fremden reinigte ich sie; dann bestellte ich die Posten der Priester und der Leviten, jeden für sein Amt.
31 And for the offring of the wood at times appoynted, and for the first fruites. Remember me, O my God, in goodnes.
Auch für die Holzspenden zu bestimmten Zeiten und für die Erstlingsfrüchte. Gedenke mir dies, mein Gott, rechne es mir zum Besten!
