Nehemiah 12
1 These also are the Priestes and the Leuites that went vp with Zerubbabel, the sonne of Shealtiel, and Ieshua: to wit, Seraiah, Ieremiah, Ezra,
Dit zijn de priesters en levieten, die met Zorobabel, den zoon van Salatiël, en met Jesjóea zijn opgetrokken: Seraja, Jirmeja, Ezra,
2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,
Amarja, Malloek, Chattoesj,
3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Merimoth,
Sjekanja, Rechoem, Meremot,
4 Iddo, Ginnetho, Abiiah,
Iddo, Ginnetoj, Abi-ja,
5 Miamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,
Mi-jamin, Maädja, Bilga,
6 Shemaiah, and Ioiarib, Iedaiah,
Sjemaja, Jojarib, Jedaja,
7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiiah, Iedaiah: these were the chiefe of the Priests, and of their brethren in the dayes of Ieshua.
Salloe, Amok, Chilki-ja en Jedaja; dit waren de hoofden van de priesters en van hun broeders ten tijde van Jesjóea.
8 And the Leuites, Ieshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Iudah, Mattaniah were ouer the thankesgiuings, he, and his brethren.
Dit waren de levieten: Jesjóea, Binnoej, Kadmiël, Sjerebeja, Jehoeda en Mattanja, die met zijn broeders de leiding had bij het lofgezang.
9 And Bakbukiah and Vnni, and their brethren were about them in the watches.
Verder Bakboekja en Oenni met hun broers, die bij de gezangen tegenover hen stonden.
10 And Ieshua begate Ioiakim: Ioiakim also begate Eliashib, and Eliashib begate Ioiada.
Jesjóea verwekte Jojakim, Jojakim verwekte Eljasjib, Eljasjib verwekte Jojada.
11 And Ioiada begate Ionathan, and Ionathan begate Iaddua,
Jojada verwekte Jonatan, Jonatan verwekte Jaddóea.
12 And in the daies of Ioiakim were these, the chiefe fathers of the Priests: vnder Seraiah was Meraiah, vnder Ieremiah, Hananiah,
Ten tijde van Jojakim waren priesters: de familiehoofden van Seraja, Meraja, Jirmeja, Chananja;
13 Vnder Ezra, Meshullam, vnder Amariah, Iehohanan,
die van Ezra, Mesjoellam, Amarja, Jehochanan;
14 Vnder Melicu, Ionathan, vnder Shebaniah, Ioseph,
die van Malloeki, Jonatan, Sjebanja, Josef:
15 Vnder Harim, Adna, vnder Maraioth, Helkai,
die van Charim, Adna, Merajot, Chelkai;
16 Vnder Iddo, Zechariah, vnder Ginnithon, Meshullam,
die van Iddo, Zekarja, Ginneton, Mesjoellam;
17 Vnder Abiiah, Zichri, vnder Miniamin, and vnder Moadiah, Piltai,
die van Abi-ja, Zikri, Minjamin, Moadja, Piltai;
18 Vnder Bilgah, Shammua, vnder Shemaiah, Iehonathan,
die van Bilga, Sjammóea, Sjemaja, Jehonatan;
19 Vnder Ioiarib, Mattenai, vnder Iedaiah, Vzzi,
die van Jojarib, Mattenai, Jedaja, Oezzi;
20 Vnder Sallai, Kallai, vnder Amok, Eber,
die van Sallai, Kallai, Amok, Éber;
21 Vnder Hilkiah, Hashabiah, vnder Iedaiah, Nethaneel.
die van Chilki-ja, Chasjabja, Jedaja en Netanel.
22 In the dayes of Eliashib, Ioiada, and Iohanan and Iaddua were the chiefe fathers of the Leuites written, and the Priests in the reigne of Darius the Persian.
De levieten, familiehoofden, uit de tijd van Eljasjib, Jojada, Jochanan en Jaddóea staan opgeschreven; de priesters tot aan de regering van Darius, den Pers.
23 The sonnes of Leui, the chiefe fathers were written in the booke of the Chronicles euen vnto the dayes of Iohanan the sonne of Eliashib.
De levieten, familiehoofden, tot aan de tijd van Jochanan, den zoon van Eljasjib, staan opgeschreven in het boek der Kronieken.
24 And the chiefe of the Leuites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Ieshua the sonne of Kadmiel, and their brethren about them to giue prayse and thankes, according to the ordinance of Dauid the man of God, ward ouer against warde.
De hoofden der levieten waren: Chasjabja, Sjerebja, Jesjóea, Binnoej en Kadmiël; en hun broeders, die tegenover hen stonden, om afdeling tegenover afdeling het prijs- en loflied aan te heffen, zoals David, de man Gods, dit had bepaald, waren:
25 Mattaniah and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon and Akkub were porters keeping the warde at the thresholds of the gates.
Mattanja, Bakboekja, Obadja. De poortwachters, die de wacht hielden bij de voorraadkamers der poorten, waren: Mesjoellam, Talmon en Akkoeb.
26 These were in the dayes of Ioiakim, the sonne of Ieshua, the sonne of Iozadak, and in the dayes of Nehemiah the captaine, and of Ezra the Priest and scribe.
Dezen leefden ten tijde van Jojakim, den zoon van Jesjóea, zoon van Josadak, en ten tijde van Nehemias, den stadhouder, en van Esdras, den priester-schriftgeleerde. De inwijding van Jerusalems muren.
27 And in the dedication of the wall at Ierusalem they sought the Leuites out of all their places to bring them to Ierusalem to keepe the dedication and gladnes, both with thankesgiuings and with songs, cymbales, violes and with harpes.
Voor de inwijding van Jerusalems muren ontbood men de levieten uit al hun woonplaatsen, en bracht ze naar Jerusalem, om de inwijding te voltrekken met jubel, loflied en gezang, met cymbalen, harpen en citers.
28 Then the singers gathered themselues together both from the plaine countrey about Ierusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi,
Zo kwamen de zangers bijeen, zowel uit de streek rond Jerusalem als uit de dorpen der Netofaieten,
29 And from the house of Gilgal, and out of the countreis of Geba, and Azmaueth: for the singers had built them villages round about Ierusalem.
uit Bet-Haggilgal, en uit de velden van Géba en Azmáwet; want de zangers hadden zich rond Jerusalem dorpen gebouwd.
30 And the Priests and Leuites were purified, and clensed the people, and the gates, and the wall.
En nadat de priesters en levieten zich hadden gereinigd, reinigden zij ook het volk, daarna de poorten en de muur.
31 And I brought vp the princes of Iudah vpon the wall, and appointed two great companies to giue thankes, and the one went on the right hand of the wall toward the dung gate.
Nu liet ik de hoofden van Juda de muur beklimmen, en stelde ik twee grote koren op. Het één trok naar het zuiden over de muur in de richting van de Aspoort.
32 And after them went Hoshaiah, and halfe of the princes of Iudah,
Daarachter gingen Hosjaäja en de helft der hoofden van Juda;
33 And Azariah, Ezra and Meshullam,
vervolgens Azarja, Ezra, Mesjoellam,
34 Iudah, Beniamin, and Shemaiah, and Ieremiah,
Jehoeda, Binjamin, Sjemaja en Jirmeja.
35 And of the Priests sonnes with trumpets, Zechariah the sonne of Ionathan, the sonne of Shemaiah, the sonne of Mattaniah, the sonne of Michaiah, the sonne of Zaccur, ye sonne of Asaph.
Dan enige priesterzonen met trompetten; daarna Zekarja, de zoon van Jonatan, zoon van Sjemaja, zoon van Mattanja, zoon van Mikaja, zoon van Zakkoer, zoon van Asaf,
36 And his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Iudah, Hanani, with the musicall instruments of Dauid the man of God: and Ezra the scribe went before them.
met zijn broeders Sjemaja, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maäi, Netanel, Jehoeda en Chanáni met muziekinstrumenten voor de muziek van David, den man Gods. Esdras, de schriftgeleerde, ging aan hun spits.
37 And to the gate of the fountaine, euen ouer against them went they vp by the staires of the citie of Dauid, at the going vp of the wall beyond the house of Dauid, euen vnto the water gate Eastward.
Voorbij de Bronpoort sloegen zij af, en trokken de trappen op van de stad van David, de helling van de muur, en verder langs het paleis van David tot aan de Waterpoort in het oosten.
38 And the seconde companie of them that gaue thankes, went on the other side, and I after them, and the halfe of the people was vpon the wall, and vpon the towre of the furnaces euen vnto the broad wall.
Het andere koor, dat door mijzelf en de helft van het volk werd gevolgd, trok naar het noorden over de muur. Het ging langs de Bakoventoren tot aan de Brede Muur,
39 And vpon the gate of Ephraim, and vpon the olde gate, and vpon the fishgate, and the towre of Hananeel, and the towre of Meah, euen vnto the sheepegate: and they stood in the gate of the warde.
over de Efraïmpoort, de Oude Poort en de Vispoort, voorbij de Chananel-toren en de toren Mea tot de Schaapspoort, en hield halt bij de Gevangenispoort.
40 So stood the two companies (of them that gaue thankes) in the house of God, and I and the halfe of the rulers with me.
Daarna stelden de beide koren zich op in de tempel; ook ikzelf met de helft van de hoofden.
41 The Priests also, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah, with trumpets,
De priesters Eljakim, Maäseja, Minjamin, Mikaja, Eljoënai, Zekarja en Chananja bliezen op de trompetten,
42 And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Vzzi, and Iehohanan, and Malchiiah, and Elam, and Ezer: and the singers sang loude, hauing Izrahiah which was the ouerseer.
met Maäseja, Sjemaja, Elazar, Oezzi, Jehochanan, Malkija, Elam en Ézer. Ook de zangers lieten zich horen onder leiding van Jizrachja.
43 And the same day they offered great sacrifices and reioyced: for God had giuen them great ioy, so that both the women, and the children were ioyfull: and the ioy of Ierusalem was heard farre off.
Die dag werden er talrijke offers gebracht. Men juichte van blijdschap, omdat God hun grote vreugde had bereid; ook de vrouwen en de kinderen juichten, zodat Jerusalems jubel tot in de verte werd gehoord.
44 Also at the same time were men appointed ouer the chambers of the store for the offerings (for the first fruites, and for the tithes) to gather into them out of the fieldes of the cities, the portions of the Law for the Priests and the Leuites: for Iudah reioyced for the Priests and for the Leuites, that serued.
In die tijd werden er mannen aangesteld, die belast waren met het toezicht over de kamers voor de voorraden, hefoffers, eerstelingen en tienden, om daarin de wettelijke cijnzen, naar de verhouding van de landerijen der steden, voor de priesters en levieten te bergen. Want Juda beleefde nu vreugde aan de dienstdoende priesters en levieten;
45 And both the singers and the Leuites kept the ward of their God, and the warde of the purification according to the commandement of Dauid, and Salomon his sonne.
want ze onderhielden de verplichtingen jegens God en de reinheidsvoorschriften. Ook de zangers en poortwachters onderhielden, wat David en zijn zoon Salomon hadden voorgeschreven;
46 For in the dayes of Dauid and Asaph, of olde were chiefe singers, and songs of praise and thankesgiuing vnto God.
want de oorsprong van de zangers en van het lof- en jubellied voor God ligt in de oude tijden van David en Asaf.
47 And in the dayes of Zerubbabel, and in the dayes of Nehemiah did al Israel giue portions vnto the singers and porters, euerie day his portion, and they gaue the holy things vnto the Leuites, and the Leuites gaue the holy things vnto the sonnes of Aaron.
Heel Israël bracht dus in de tijd van Zorobabel en in de tijd van Nehemias de cijns voor de dagelijkse behoeften der zangers en poortwachters op, en wijdde gaven aan de levieten, die daarvan wederom aan de zonen van Aäron wijdden.
