Matthew 26
1 And it came to passe, when Iesus had finished all these sayings, he saide vnto his disciples,
இயேசு இவற்றையெல்லாம் சொல்லி முடித்தபின்பு, அவர் தமது சீடருக்குச் சொன்னதாவது:
2 Ye know that after two dayes is ye Passeouer, and the Sonne of man shalbe deliuered to be crucified.
“நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறபடி, பஸ்கா என்ற பண்டிகைக்கு இன்னும் இரண்டு நாட்கள் இருக்கிறது. அப்பொழுது மானிடமகனாகிய நான் சிலுவையில் அறையப்படும்படி ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவேன்” என்றார்.
3 Then assembled together the chiefe Priests, and the Scribes, and the Elders of ye people into the hall of the high Priest called Caiaphas:
அவ்வேளையில் தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களும், யூதரின் தலைவர்களும், காய்பா என்னும் பெயருடைய பிரதான ஆசாரியனின் அரண்மனையில் ஒன்றுகூடினார்கள்.
4 And consulted together that they might take Iesus by subtiltie, and kill him.
அவர்கள் ஏதாவது தந்திரமான முறையில் இயேசுவைக் கைதுசெய்து, கொலைசெய்வதற்குச் சூழ்ச்சி செய்தார்கள்.
5 But they sayd, Not on the feast day, least any vprore be among the people.
ஆனாலும் பண்டிகைக் காலத்தில் அப்படிச் செய்யக்கூடாது, அப்படிச் செய்தால் மக்கள் மத்தியில் கலகம் ஏற்படலாம் என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
6 And when Iesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper,
இயேசு பெத்தானியாவில் குஷ்டவியாதியாயிருந்த சீமோனுடைய வீட்டில் இருந்தபோது,
7 There came vnto him a woman, which had a boxe of very costly oyntment, and powred it on his head, as he sate at the table.
ஒரு பெண் மிகவும் விலை உயர்ந்த நறுமணத்தைலம் உள்ள, வெள்ளைக்கல் குடுவையுடன் அவரிடத்தில் வந்தாள். அவர் சாப்பாட்டுப் பந்தியில் இருக்கையில், அவள் அந்த நறுமணத் தைலத்தை அவருடைய தலையின்மேல் ஊற்றினாள்.
8 And when his disciples sawe it, they had indignation, saying, What needed this waste?
சீடர்கள் இதைக் கண்டபோது ஆத்திரமடைந்து, “ஏன் இந்த வீண்செலவு?
9 For this oyntment might haue bene solde for much, and bene giuen to the poore.
இந்த நறுமணத் தைலத்தை நல்ல விலைக்கு விற்று, அந்தப் பணத்தை ஏழைகளுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கலாமே” என்றார்கள்.
10 And Iesus knowing it, sayde vnto them, Why trouble yee the woman? for shee hath wrought a good woorke vpon me.
இயேசு இதை அறிந்து அவர்களிடம், “ஏன் இந்தப் பெண்ணுக்குத் தொல்லை கொடுக்கிறீர்கள்? அவள் ஒரு சிறந்த நோக்கத்துடனேயே இந்தக் காரியத்தை எனக்கு செய்திருக்கிறாள்.
11 For yee haue the poore alwayes with you, but me shall yee not haue alwaies.
ஏழைகள் எப்பொழுதும் உங்களுடன் இருப்பார்கள், ஆனால் நான் எப்பொழுதும் உங்களுடன் இருக்கமாட்டேன்.
12 For in that shee powred this oyntment on my bodie, shee did it to burie me.
இவள் இந்த நறுமணத் தைலத்தை என் உடலின்மேல் ஊற்றி, என் அடக்கத்திற்கு ஆயத்தமாகவே இதைச் செய்தாள்.
13 Verely I say vnto you, wheresoeuer this Gospel shall bee preached throughout all the worlde, there shall also this that shee hath done, be spoken of for a memoriall of her.
நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன், உலகம் முழுவதும் எங்கெல்லாம் இந்த நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறதோ, அங்கெல்லாம் இவள் செய்ததும், இவளுடைய நினைவாகச் சொல்லப்படும்” என்றார்.
14 Then one of the twelue, called Iudas Iscariot, went vnto the chiefe Priestes,
பின்னர் யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து என அழைக்கப்படும் பன்னிரண்டு சீடர்களில் ஒருவன் தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களிடம் போய்,
15 And said, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? and they appoynted vnto him thirtie pieces of siluer.
“நான் இயேசுவை உங்களிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தால், நீங்கள் எனக்கு என்ன கொடுப்பீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான். அவர்கள் முப்பது வெள்ளிக்காசை எண்ணி அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
16 And from that time, he sought opportunitie to betraie him.
அவ்வேளையிலிருந்து யூதாஸ், இயேசுவைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்பைத் தேடிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
17 Nowe on the first day of the feast of vnleauened bread the disciples came to Iesus, saying vnto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eate the Passeouer?
புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பப் பண்டிகையின் முதலாம் நாளிலே, சீடர்கள் இயேசுவிடம் வந்து, “பஸ்கா உணவைச் சாப்பிடும்படி, நாங்கள் எங்கே உமக்காக ஆயத்தம் பண்ணவேண்டும் என்று விரும்புகிறீர்?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
18 And he said, Goe yee into the citie to such a man, and say to him, The master saieth, My time is at hande: I will keepe the Passeouer at thine house with my disciples.
அதற்கு இயேசு, “பட்டணத்திற்குள்ளே நான் குறிப்பிடும் மனிதனிடம் போய், ‘போதகர் உமக்குச் சொல்கிறதாவது: நியமிக்கப்பட்ட எனது வேளை நெருங்கிவிட்டது. நான் உமது வீட்டில், எனது சீடர்களுடன் பஸ்காவைக் கொண்டாடப் போகிறேன்’ என்று சொல்லுங்கள்” என்றார்.
19 And the disciples did as Iesus had giuen them charge, and made readie the Passeouer.
இயேசுவின் சீடர்கள் தங்களுக்கு அவர் சொன்னபடியே செய்து, பஸ்காவை ஆயத்தம் செய்தார்கள்.
20 So when the Euen was come, hee sate downe with the twelue.
மாலை வேளையானபோது, இயேசு பன்னிரண்டு சீடர்களோடு பந்தியில் அமர்ந்திருந்தார்.
21 And as they did eate, he sayde, Verely I say vnto you, that one of you shall betraie me.
அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்லுகிறேன், உங்களில் ஒருவன் என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான்” என்றார்.
22 And they were exceeding sorowfull, and began euery one of them to say vnto him, Is it I, Master?
அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்து, ஒருவன்பின் ஒருவனாக அவரிடம், “ஆண்டவரே, நிச்சயமாக அது நான் இல்லை அல்லவா?” என்று கேட்கத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.
23 And hee answered and sayde, Hee that dippeth his hande with me in the dish, hee shall betraie me.
அதற்குப் பதிலாக இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “பாத்திரத்தில் என்னோடுகூட கை போட்டவனே, என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான்.
24 Surely the Sonne of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Sonne of man is betrayed: it had bene good for that man, if hee had neuer bene borne.
மானிடமகனாகிய என்னைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே நான் போகிறேன். ஆனால் மானிடமகனாகிய என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவனுக்கு ஐயோ! அவன் பிறக்காமலே இருந்திருந்தால் அது அவனுக்கு நலமாய் இருந்திருக்கும்” என்றார்.
25 Then Iudas which betraied him, answered and sayde, Is it I, Master? He sayde vnto him, Thou hast sayd it.
அப்பொழுது இயேசுவைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப் போகிறவனான யூதாஸ், “போதகரே, நிச்சயமாக நீர் என்னைக் குறிக்கவில்லை அல்லவா?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு இயேசு, “நீயே அதை சொல்லிவிட்டாயே!” என்று பதிலளித்தார்.
26 And as they did eate, Iesus tooke the bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gaue it to the disciples, and sayd, Take, eate: this is my bodie.
அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், இயேசு அப்பத்தை எடுத்து இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி, அதைப் பிட்டு தம்முடைய சீடர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து அவர்களிடம், “இதை வாங்கிச் சாப்பிடுங்கள்; இது எனது உடல்” என்றார்.
27 Also he tooke the cuppe, and when he had giuen thankes, he gaue it them, saying, Drinke ye all of it.
பின்பு அவர் பாத்திரத்தையும் எடுத்து, இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி, அதை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார். அவர் அவர்களிடம், “நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் இதிலிருந்து குடியுங்கள்.
28 For this is my blood of the Newe Testament, that is shedde for many, for the remission of sinnes.
இது என்னுடைய உடன்படிக்கையின் இரத்தமாயிருக்கிறது, அநேகருடைய பாவங்களின் மன்னிப்புக்காக இது சிந்தப்படுகிறது” என்று சொன்னார்.
29 I say vnto you, that I will not drinke henceforth of this fruit of the vine vntil that day, when I shall drinke it new with you in my Fathers kingdome.
“நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், இவ்வேளையிலிருந்து, என் பிதாவின் அரசில் இதைப் புதியதாக உங்களோடு நான் குடிக்கும் நாள்வரைக்கும், இந்த திராட்சைப்பழ இரசத்தைக் குடிக்கமாட்டேன்” என்றார்.
30 And when they had sung a Psalme, they went out into the mount of Oliues.
அவர்கள் ஒரு துதிப்பாடலைப் பாடிய பின்பு, ஒலிவமலைக்குச் சென்றார்கள்.
31 Then saide Iesus vnto them, All yee shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, I wil smite the shepheard, and the sheepe of the flocke shalbe scattered.
அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “இந்த இரவிலேயே நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் என்னைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போவீர்கள். ஏனெனில், “‘நான் மேய்ப்பனை அடித்து வீழ்த்துவேன். அப்பொழுது மந்தையின் ஆடுகள் சிதறடிக்கப்படும்,’ என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
32 But after I am risen againe, I will go before you into Galile.
“ஆனால் நான் உயிர்த்தெழுந்த பின்பு, உங்களுக்கு முன்னதாகவே கலிலேயாவுக்குப் போவேன்” என்றார்.
33 But Peter aunswered, and sayde vnto him, Though that al men should be offended by thee, yet will I neuer be offended.
அதற்குப் பேதுரு, “மற்ற எல்லோரும் உம்மைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனாலும் நான் ஒருபோதும் ஓடிப் போகமாட்டேன்” என்றான்.
34 Iesus sayde vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, that this night, before the cocke crow, thou shalt denie me thrise.
இயேசு அதற்கு அவனிடம், “நான் உனக்கு உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன், இந்த இரவிலே சேவல் கூவுவதற்கு முன்பே நீ என்னை மூன்றுமுறை மறுதலிப்பாய்” என்று பதிலளித்தார்.
35 Peter saide vnto him, Though I should die with thee, I will in no case denie thee. Likewise also sayd all the disciples.
ஆனால் பேதுருவோ, “நான் உம்முடன் சாகவேண்டிய நிலைமை ஏற்பட்டாலும், உம்மை ஒருபோதும் மறுதலிக்கமாட்டேன்” என்றான். சீடர்கள் எல்லோரும் அவ்விதமாகவே சொன்னார்கள்.
36 Then went Iesus with them into a place which is called Gethsemane, and said vnto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I goe, and pray yonder.
பின்பு இயேசு தமது சீடர்களுடன் கெத்செமனே என்னும் ஒரு இடத்திற்குச் சென்றார். அங்கே அவர் அவர்களிடம், “நான் அங்குபோய் மன்றாடும்வரை இங்கே உட்கார்ந்திருங்கள்” என்றார்.
37 And hee tooke vnto him Peter, and the two sonnes of Zebedeus, and began to waxe sorowfull, and grieuously troubled.
இயேசு பேதுருவையும், செபெதேயுவின் மகன்கள் இருவரையும் தன்னுடன் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு சென்றார். பின்பு அவர் மிகவும் துயரமுற்றுக் கலங்கத் தொடங்கினார்.
38 Then sayde Iesus vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie yee here, and watch with me.
இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “என் ஆத்துமா மரணத்திற்கேதுவான துக்கத்தால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது. நீங்கள் இங்கே தங்கி, என்னுடன் விழித்துக் காத்திருங்கள்” என்றார்.
39 So hee went a litle further, and fell on his face, and praied, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
இயேசு சற்றுத் தூரமாய்ப் போய்த் தரையில் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, “என் பிதாவே, முடியுமானால் இந்தப் பாத்திரம் என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கும்படிச் செய்யும்; ஆனாலும் என் விருப்பத்தின்படியல்ல, உம்முடைய விருப்பத்தின்படியே ஆகக்கடவது” என்று மன்றாடினார்.
40 After, hee came vnto the disciples, and founde them a sleepe, and sayde to Peter, What? coulde yee not watch with me one houre?
பின்பு இயேசு தமது சீடர்களிடம் திரும்பிவந்தபோது, அவர்கள் நித்திரையாயிருப்பதைக் கண்டார். அவர் பேதுருவிடம், “ஒருமணி நேரமாவது என்னுடன் விழித்திருக்க உங்களால் முடியவில்லையா?” என்று கேட்டார்.
41 Watch, and praie, that yee enter not into tentation: the spirit in deede is readie, but the flesh is weake.
“விழித்திருந்து மன்றாடுங்கள், அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் சோதனைக்குள் விழமாட்டீர்கள். ஆவி ஆர்வமாயிருக்கிறது, ஆனால் உடலோ பலவீனமுள்ளது” என்றார்.
42 Againe he went away the second time, and praied, saying, O my Father, if this cuppe can not passe away from mee, but that I must drinke it, thy will be done.
இயேசு இரண்டாவது முறையும் போய், “என் பிதாவே, இந்தப் பாத்திரத்திலிருந்து நான் குடித்தாலொழிய இது என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கக்கூடாதாகில், உம்முடைய விருப்பத்தின்படி ஆகக்கடவது” என்று மன்றாடினார்.
43 And he came, and founde them a sleepe againe, for their eyes were heauie.
இயேசு திரும்பவும் வந்தபோது சீடர்கள் மீண்டும் நித்திரையாயிருப்பதை அவர் கண்டார்; ஏனெனில் அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் தூக்க மயக்கத்தில் இருந்தன.
44 So he left them and went away againe, and praied the third time, saying the same woordes.
எனவே இயேசு அவர்களைவிட்டு விலகிப்போய், திரும்பவும் மூன்றாவது முறையாக அதே வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லி மன்றாடினார்.
45 Then came he to his disciples, and said vnto them, Sleepe henceforth, and take your rest: behold, the houre is at hand, and the Sonne of man is giuen into the hands of sinners.
பின்பு இயேசு தமது சீடர்களிடம் திரும்பிவந்து, அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “நீங்கள் இன்னும் நித்திரை செய்து இளைப்பாறுகிறீர்களோ? இதோ பாருங்கள், வேளை வந்துவிட்டது. மானிடமகனாகிய நான் பாவிகளின் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிறேன்.
46 Rise, let vs goe: beholde, hee is at hande that betraieth me.
எழுந்திருங்கள், நாம் போவோம்! என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பவன் இதோ வருகிறான்!” என்றார்.
47 And while hee yet spake, loe Iudas, one of the twelue, came, and with him a great multitude with swordes and staues, from the high Priests and Elders of the people.
இயேசு இவ்வாறு பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், பன்னிரண்டு சீடர்களில் ஒருவனாகிய யூதாஸ் அங்கே வந்தான். அவனுடன் ஒரு பெருங்கூட்டம் வாள்களையும் தடிகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தது. இவர்கள் தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களாலும் யூதரின் தலைவர்களாலும் அனுப்பப்பட்டிருந்தார்கள்.
48 Now he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomesoeuer I shall kisse, that is he, laie holde on him.
இயேசுவைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பவன், தான் அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு சைகையைக் காண்பிப்பதாகச் சொல்லியிருந்தான்: “நான் முத்தமிடுகிறவனே, அந்த மனிதர்; அவரைக் கைதுசெய்யுங்கள்” என்று சொல்லியிருந்தான்.
49 And forthwith he came to Iesus, and sayd, God saue thee, Master, and kissed him.
யூதாஸ் இயேசுவுக்குச் சமீபமாக வந்து, “போதகரே வாழ்க!” என்று சொல்லி, அவரை முத்தமிட்டான்.
50 Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Friende, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laide hands on Iesus, and tooke him.
இயேசு யூதாஸிடம், “நண்பனே, நீ எதற்காக வந்தாயோ, அதைச் செய்!” என்றார். அப்பொழுது அவனுடன் வந்தவர்கள் முன்னேவந்து, இயேசுவைப் பிடித்து அவரைக் கைது செய்தார்கள்.
51 And behold, one of them which were with Iesus, stretched out his hand, and drewe his sworde, and strooke a seruaunt of the high Priest, and smote off his eare.
அவ்வேளையில் இயேசுவுடன் இருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவன் தனது வாளை உருவி பிரதான ஆசாரியனின் வேலைக்காரனின் காதை வெட்டினான்.
52 Then sayde Iesus vnto him, Put vp thy sworde into his place: for all that take the sworde, shall perish with the sworde.
இயேசு அவனிடம், “உன் வாளை அதன் உறையிலே போடு, ஏனெனில் வாளை எடுக்கிற அனைவரும் வாளினாலேயே சாவார்கள்.
53 Either thinkest thou, that I can not now pray to my Father, and he will giue me moe then twelue legions of Angels?
என் பிதாவை நோக்கி, என்னால் கூப்பிட முடியாது என்று நீ நினைக்கிறாயா? நான் கேட்டால் அவர் உடனே எனக்காக பன்னிரண்டுக்கும் அதிகமான தூதர் சேனையை அனுப்புவார் அல்லவா?
54 Howe then shoulde the Scriptures bee fulfilled, which say, that it must be so?
ஆனால் நான் அப்படிச் செய்தால், இவ்விதமாக நிகழவேண்டும் என்று சொல்கிற வேதவசனம், எப்படி நிறைவேறும்?” என்றார்.
55 The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.
அவ்வேளையில் இயேசு அந்தப் பெருங்கூட்டத்தைப் பார்த்து, “நான் ஆபத்தான புரட்சியை உண்டாக்குகிறேனா, அதனாலேயா என்னைப் பிடிப்பதற்கு நீங்கள் வாள்களுடனும் தடிகளுடனும், வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்? நான் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் ஆலய முற்றத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து போதித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேனே; அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் என்னைக் கைதுசெய்யவில்லை.
56 But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsooke him, and fled.
ஆனால் இறைவாக்கினர் எழுதி வைத்தவை நிறைவேறும்படியே இவையெல்லாம் நிகழ்கின்றன” என்றார். அப்பொழுது சீடர்கள் எல்லோரும் இயேசுவைத் தனியே விட்டுவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.
57 And they tooke Iesus, and led him to Caiaphas the hie Priest, where the Scribes and the Elders were assembled.
இயேசுவைக் கைது செய்தவர்கள், அவரைப் பிரதான ஆசாரியன் காய்பாவிடம் கூட்டிச்சென்றார்கள். அங்கே மோசேயின் சட்ட ஆசிரியர்களும் யூதரின் தலைவர்களும் கூடியிருந்தார்கள்.
58 And Peter followed him a farre off vnto the hie Priestes hall, and went in, and sate with the seruants to see the ende.
பேதுரு சிறிது தூரத்தில் இயேசுவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து போய், பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய முற்றம் வரைக்கும் போனான். அவன் உள்ளேப் போய் நடக்கப்போவதை அறியும்படி காவலருடன் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்.
59 Nowe the chiefe Priestes and the Elders, and all the whole councill sought false witnesse against Iesus, to put him to death.
தலைமை ஆசாரியர்களும், ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தில் இருந்த அனைவரும் இயேசுவுக்கு மரண தண்டனை கொடுப்பதற்காக, அவருக்கு எதிரான சாட்சியைத் தேடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்; ஆனால் அவர்களுக்கு கிடைக்கவில்லை.
60 But they founde none, and though many false witnesses came, yet founde they none: but at the last came two false witnesses,
பல பொய் சாட்சிகள் முன்வந்தார்கள். ஆனால், அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்ற சாட்சியம் கிடைக்கவில்லை. கடைசியாக இரண்டு பொய் சாட்சிகள் முன்வந்தார்கள்.
61 And saide, This man saide, I can destroie the Temple of God, and build it in three daies.
அவர்களோ, “இவன் இறைவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை இடித்துப்போடவும், அதை மூன்று நாட்களில் திரும்பக் கட்டவும் தன்னால் முடியும் என்று சொன்னான்” என்றார்கள்.
62 Then the chiefe Priest arose, and sayde to him, Answerest thou nothing? What is the matter that these men witnesse against thee?
அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் எழுந்து நின்று இயேசுவிடம், “பதில் சொல்லமாட்டாயோ? இவர்கள் உனக்கு எதிராய் கொடுக்கிற சாட்சி என்ன?” கேட்டான்.
63 But Iesus helde his peace. Then the chiefe Priest answered, and saide to him, I charge thee sweare vnto vs by the liuing God, to tell vs, If thou be that Christ the Sonne of God, or no.
ஆனால் இயேசுவோ ஒன்றும் பேசாதிருந்தார். பிரதான ஆசாரியன் அவரிடம், “உயிருள்ள இறைவன் பெயரில் ஆணையிட்டுக் கேட்கிறேன்: நீ இறைவனின் மகனான கிறிஸ்து என்றால், அதை எங்களுக்குச் சொல்” என்றான்.
64 Iesus saide to him, Thou hast saide it: neuerthelesse I say vnto you, hereafter shall ye see the Sonne of man, sitting at the right hande of the power of God, and come in the cloudes of the heauen.
இயேசு அதற்குப் பதிலாக, “ஆம், நீர் சொல்கிறபடிதான்; ஆனால் நான் உங்கள் எல்லோருக்கும் சொல்கிறேன்: இதுமுதல் மானிடமகனாகிய நான் வல்லமையுள்ள இறைவனுடைய வலதுபக்கத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருப்பதையும், வானத்தின் மேகங்கள்மேல் வருவதையும் நீங்கள் காண்பீர்கள்” என்றார்.
65 Then the hie Priest rent his clothes, saying, Hee hath blasphemed, what haue wee any more neede of witnesses? beholde: nowe yee haue heard his blasphemie.
அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் தன்னுடைய உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, “இவன் இறைவனை நிந்தித்துப் பேசுகிறான்! இனியும் நமக்குச் சாட்சிகள் வேண்டுமோ? பாருங்கள், இவன் இறைவனை நிந்தித்துப் பேசியதை நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது கேட்டீர்களே.
66 What thinke yee? They answered, and said, He is guiltie of death.
நீங்கள் என்ன நினைக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள், “இவன் சாக வேண்டியவன்” என்றார்கள்.
67 Then spet they in his face, and buffeted him, and other smote him with roddes,
பின்பு அவர்கள் அவருடைய முகத்தில் துப்பி, அவரைக் குட்டினார்கள். மற்றவர்கள் அவரை முகத்தில் அறைந்து,
68 Saying, Prophecie to vs, O Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
“கிறிஸ்துவே, உம்மை அடித்தது யார் என்று இறைவாக்குச் சொல்லும்” என்றார்கள்.
69 Peter sate without in the hall, and a maide came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Iesus of Galile:
பேதுரு வெளியே முற்றத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தான், அப்பொழுது ஒரு வேலைக்காரப் பெண் அவனிடம் வந்து, “நீயும் கலிலேயாவைச் சேர்ந்த இயேசுவுடன் இருந்தாயே” என்றாள்.
70 But hee denied before them all, saying, I wote not what thou saiest.
அதற்கு அவன், “நீ என்ன பேசுகிறாய் என்றே எனக்குத் தெரியாது” என்று சொல்லி எல்லோருக்கும் முன்பாக அவரை மறுதலித்தான்.
71 And when hee went out into the porche, another maide sawe him, and sayde vnto them that were there, This man was also with Iesus of Nazareth.
பின்பு பேதுரு வெளியே முற்ற வாசலுக்குச் சென்றான்; அங்கே வேறொரு வேலைக்காரி அவனைக் கண்டு, அங்கிருந்த மக்களிடம், “இவன் நாசரேத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இயேசுவோடு இருந்தவன்” என்றாள்.
72 And againe he denied with an othe, saying, I knowe not the man.
அதற்கு அவன், “அந்த மனிதனை எனக்குத் தெரியாது” என்று சத்தியம் செய்து மீண்டும் மறுதலித்தான்.
73 So after a while, came vnto him they that stoode by, and sayde vnto Peter, Surely thou art also one of them: for euen thy speache bewraieth thee.
சிறிது நேரத்திற்குப் பின்பு அங்கு நின்றவர்கள் பேதுருவிடம் போய், “நிச்சயமாகவே நீ அவர்களில் ஒருவன். நீ பேசும் விதம் உன்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறது” என்றார்கள்.
74 Then began hee to curse himselfe, and to sweare, saying, I knowe not the man. And immediately the cocke crewe.
அப்பொழுது பேதுரு, “அந்த மனிதனை எனக்குத் தெரியாது” என்று சபிக்கவும் சத்தியம் பண்ணவும் தொடங்கினான். உடனே சேவல் கூவியது.
75 Then Peter remembred the wordes of Iesus, which had sayde vnto him, Before the cocke crowe thou shalt denie me thrise. So he went out, and wept bitterly.
“சேவல் கூவுவதற்கு முன்னே, நீ என்னை மூன்றுமுறை மறுதலிப்பாய்” என்று இயேசு சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளைப் பேதுரு நினைவுகூர்ந்தான். அவன் வெளியே போய் மனங்கசந்து அழுதான்.
