Malachi 3
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord whom ye seeke, shall speedely come to his Temple: euen the messenger of the couenant whom ye desire: beholde, he shall come, sayth the Lord of hostes.
Ecco, io mando il mio Angelo, ed egli acconcerà la via davanti a me; e subito il Signore, il qual voi cercate, e l'Angelo del Patto, il qual voi desiderate, verrà nel suo tempio; ecco, egli viene, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti.
2 But who may abide the day of his comming? and who shall endure, when he appeareth? for he is like a purging fire, and like fullers sope.
E chi sosterrà il giorno della sua venuta? e chi durerà, quando egli apparirà? perciocchè egli [è] come il fuoco di chi fonde [i metalli], e come l'erba de' purgatori di panni.
3 And he shall sit downe to trye and fine the siluer: he shall euen fine the sonnes of Leui and purifie them as golde and siluer, that they may bring offerings vnto the Lord in righteousnesse.
Ed egli sederà, struggendo, e purgando l'argento; e netterà i figliuoli di Levi, e li affinerà a guisa dell'oro, e dell'argento; ed essi offeriranno al Signore offerte in giustizia.
4 Then shall the offerings of Iudah and Ierusalem be acceptable vnto the Lord, as in old time and in the yeeres afore.
E l'offerta di Giuda, e di Gerusalemme, sarà piacevole al Signore, come a' dì antichi, e come negli anni di prima.
5 And I will come neere to you to iudgement, and I will be a swift witnesse against the southsayers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that wrongfully keepe backe the hirelings wages, and vexe the widowe, and the fatherlesse, and oppresse the stranger, and feare not me, sayth the Lord of hostes.
Ed io mi accosterò a voi in giudicio; e sarò testimonio pronto contro agl'incantatori, e contro agli adulteri, e contro a quelli che giurano falsamente, e contro a quelli che fraudano il mercenario della sua mercede; ed oppressano la vedova, e l'orfano; e pervertono il [diritto del] forestiere, e non mi temono, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti.
6 For I am the Lord: I change not, and ye sonnes of Iaakob are not consumed.
Perciocchè io [sono] il Signore [che] non mi muto, voi, figliuoli di Giacobbe, non siete stati consumati.
7 From the dayes of your fathers, ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and haue not kept them: returne vnto me, and I will returne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes: but ye saide, Wherein shall we returne?
FIN dal tempo de' vostri padri, voi vi siete stornati da' miei statuti, e non [li] avete osservati. Convertitevi a me, ed io mi rivolgerò a voi, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti. E pur voi dite: In che ci convertiremo?
8 Will a man spoyle his gods? yet haue ye spoyled me: but ye say, Wherein haue we spoyled thee? In tithes, and offerings.
L'uomo deve egli rubare Iddio, che voi mi rubate? E pur dite: In che ti abbiam noi rubato? Nelle decime, e nelle offerte.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye haue spoyled me, euen this whole nation.
Voi [sarete] maledetti di maledizione, perciocchè mi rubate, o nazione tutta quanta.
10 Bring ye all the tythes into the storehouse that there may be meate in mine House, and proue me nowe herewith, sayeth the Lord of hostes, if I will not open the windowes of heauen vnto you, and powre you out a blessing without measure.
Portate tutte le decime nelle conserve, e siavi del cibo nella mia Casa; e fin da ora provatemi in questo, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, se io non vi apro le cateratte del cielo, e non vi verso tanta benedizione che non le basterete.
11 And I will rebuke the deuourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruite of your grounde, neither shall your vine be baren in the fielde, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
Io sgriderò, olte a ciò, per amor vostro, [le bestie] divoranti, ed esse non guasteranno [più] i frutti della terra, e le vostre viti non isperderanno [più] ne' campi, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a pleasant lande, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
E tutte le genti vi predicheranno beati; perciocchè voi sarete un paese di diletto, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti.
13 Your wordes haue bene stout against me, sayeth the Lord: yet ye say, What haue we spoken against thee?
Voi avete usate parole dure contro a me, ha detto il Signore. E pur dite: Che abbiamo noi detto contro a te?
14 Ye haue saide, It is in vaine to serue God: and what profite is it that we haue kept his commandement, and that we walked humbly before the Lord of hostes?
Voi avete detto: In vano si serve a Dio; e che abbiamo noi guadagnato, mentre abbiamo osservato ciò ch'egli ha comandato che si osservi, e mentre siam camminati [vestiti] a bruno, per lo Signor degli eserciti?
15 Therefore wee count the proude blessed: euen they that worke wickednesse, are set vp, and they that tempt God, yea, they are deliuered.
Or dunque noi reputiamo beati i superbi; benchè operino empiamente, pur sono edificati; benchè tentino il Signore, pur sono scampati.
16 Then spake they that feared the Lord, euery one to his neighbour, and the Lord hearkened and heard it, and a booke of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought vpon his Name.
Allora coloro che temono il Signore han parlato l'uno all'altro, e il Signore è stato attento, e [l]'ha udito; ed un libro di memoria è stato scritto nel suo cospetto, per coloro che temono il Signore, e che pensano al suo Nome.
17 And they shall be to me, sayeth the Lord of hostes, in that day that I shall do this, for a flocke, and I will spare them, as a man spareth his owne sonne that serueth him.
E quelli mi saranno, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, nel giorno che io opererò, un tesoro riposto; ed io li risparmierò, come un uomo risparmia il suo figliuolo che lo serve.
18 Then shall you returne, and discerne betweene the righteous and wicked, betweene him that serueth God, and him that serueth him not.
E se pur voi vi convertite, voi vedrete [qual differenza vi è] tra il giusto e l'empio; tra colui che serve Iddio, e colui che non lo serve.
