Luke 1
1 Forasmuch as many haue taken in hand to set foorth the storie of those things, whereof we are fully persuaded,
Viele haben es schon unternommen, zusammenhängend zu erzählen, was für Begebenheiten sich unter uns zugetragen haben.
2 As they haue deliuered them vnto vs, which from the beginning saw them their selues, and were ministers of ye word,
Sie haben sich dabei an die Überlieferungen derer gehalten, die von Anfang an Augenzeugen und Diener des Wortes waren.
3 It seemed good also to me (most noble Theophilus) assoone as I had searched out perfectly all things from the beginning, to write vnto thee thereof from point to point,
So habe auch ich mich entschlossen, allen Ereignissen von ihren ersten Anfängen an sorgfältig nachzugehen und sie für dich, edler Theophilus, der Reihe nach aufzuschreiben.
4 That thou mightest acknowledge the certaintie of those things, whereof thou hast bene instructed.
Auf diese Weise kannst du dich von der Zuverlässigkeit der Lehren überzeugen, in denen du unterrichtet worden bist.
5 In the time of Herod King of Iudea, there was a certaine Priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabet.
In den Tagen des Herodes, des Königs von Judäa, lebte ein Priester namens Zacharias, aus der Priesterklasse des Abia. Er hatte eine Frau aus dem Geschlechte Aarons; ihr Name war Elisabeth.
6 Both were iust before God, and walked in all the commandements and ordinances of the Lord, without reproofe.
Beide waren fromm vor Gott und lebten tadellos in allen Geboten und Satzungen des Herrn.
7 And they had no childe, because that Elisabet was barren: and both were well stricken in age.
Doch hatten sie kein Kind; Elisabeth war nämlich unfruchtbar, und beide waren auch schon hochbetagt.
8 And it came to passe, as he executed the Priestes office before God, as his course came in order,
Einst versah er seinen Dienst vor Gott, weil seine Priesterklasse an der Reihe war.
9 According to the custome of the Priests office, his lot was to burne incense, when he went into the Temple of the Lord.
Weil es in der Priesterschaft Gewohnheit war, ward gelost, und er hatte das Rauchopfer darzubringen. So trat er in den Tempel des Herrn ein,
10 And the whole multitude of the people were without in prayer, while the incense was burning.
die ganze Volksmenge betete jedoch zur Zeit des Rauchopfers draußen.
11 Then appeared vnto him an Angel of the Lord standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
Da erschien ihm rechts vom Rauchopferaltar ein Engel des Herrn.
12 And when Zacharias sawe him, he was troubled, and feare fell vpon him.
Zacharias erschrak, als er ihn sah, und es befiel ihn Furcht.
13 But the Angel saide vnto him, Feare not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard, and thy wise Elisabet shall beare thee a sonne, and thou shalt call his name Iohn.
Der Engel aber sprach zu ihm: "Fürchte dich nicht, Zacharias! Dein Gebet ist erhört; Elisabeth, dein Weib, wird dir einen Sohn schenken, und du sollst ihn Johannes nennen.
14 And thou shalt haue ioy and gladnes, and many shall reioyce at his birth.
Du wirst darüber freudig jubeln, und viele werden über seine Geburt sich freuen.
15 For he shalbe great in the sight of the Lord, and shall neither drinke wine, nor strong drinke: and he shalbe filled with the holy Ghost, euen from his mothers wombe.
Denn er wird groß sein durch die Gnade Gottes. Wein und berauschendes Getränk wird er nicht trinken und schon im Mutterschoß voll des Heiligen Geistes sein.
16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turne to their Lord God.
Und viele der Kinder Israels wird er zum Herrn, ihrem Gott, bekehren.
17 For he shall goe before him in the spirite and power of Elias, to turne the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisedome of the iust men, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Er wird vor ihm einhergehen im Geist und in der Kraft des Elias, um den Sinn der Väter den Kindern wieder einzuflößen, Unfolgsame zur Gesinnung Frommer hinzuführen und dem Herrn ein williges Volk zu bereiten."
18 Then Zacharias said vnto ye Angel, Whereby shall I knowe this? for I am an olde man, and my wife is of a great age.
Doch Zacharias sprach zu dem Engel: "Woran soll ich das erkennen? Ich bin schon alt, und auch mein Weib ist hochbetagt."
19 And the Angell answered, and sayde vnto him, I am Gabriel that stand in the presence of God, and am sent to speake vnto thee, and to shew thee these good tidings.
Darauf gab ihm der Engel zur Antwort: "Ich bin Gabriel, der vor Gott steht, und bin gesandt, mit dir zu reden und dir diese frohe Botschaft zu bringen.
20 And beholde, thou shalt be domme, and not be able to speake, vntill the day that these things be done, because thou beleeuedst not my words, which shalbe fulfilled in their season.
Siehe, du sollst stumm sein und nicht reden können, bis auf den Tag, da dies eintrifft, weil du meinen Worten nicht geglaubt hast, die zu ihrer Zeit in Erfüllung gehen werden."
21 Now the people waited for Zacharias, and marueiled that he taried so long in the Temple.
Das Volk, das auf Zacharias wartete, wunderte sich sehr, daß er so lange im Tempel weilte.
22 And when hee came out, hee coulde not speake vnto them: then they perceiued that hee had seene a vision in the Temple: For he made signes vnto them, and remained domme.
Er trat heraus; doch konnte er nicht zu ihnen reden, und sie erkannten, daß er im Tempel ein Gesicht geschaut hatte. Er konnte ihnen nur noch winken und blieb stumm.
23 And it came to passe, when the daies of his office were fulfilled, that he departed to his owne house.
Als die Zeit seines Dienstes vorüber war, begab er sich nach Hause zurück.
24 And after those daies, his wife Elisabet conceiued, and hid her selfe fiue moneths, saying,
Hernach empfing Elisabeth, sein Weib, und zog sich auf fünf Monate zurück.
25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me, in the daies wherein he looked on me, to take from me my rebuke among men.
Sie sprach: "So hat der Herr an mir getan; er hat auf mich in diesen Tagen herabgeschaut und vor den Menschen meine Schmach hinweggenommen."
26 And in the sixth moneth, the Angell Gabriel was sent from God vnto a citie of Galile, named Nazareth,
Im sechsten Monat ward der Engel Gabriel von Gott in eine Stadt in Galiläa namens Nazareth gesandt
27 To a virgin affianced to a man whose name was Ioseph, of the house of Dauid, and the virgins name was Marie.
zu einer Jungfrau, die verlobt war mit einem Manne namens Joseph. Er stammte aus dem Hause David; der Name der Jungfrau war Maria.
28 And the Angel went in vnto her, and said, Haile thou that art freely beloued: the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Er der Engel trat zu ihr hinein und sprach: "Gegrüßet seist du, Gnadenvolle; der Herr ist mit dir." Du bist gebenedeit unter den Weibern.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and thought what maner of salutation that should be.
Sie ward verwirrt ob dieser Rede und dachte nach, was dieser Gruß bedeute.
30 Then the Angel saide vnto her, Feare not, Marie: for thou hast found fauour with God.
Der Engel aber sprach zu ihr: "Fürchte dich nicht, Maria; denn du hast bei Gott Gnade gefunden.
31 For loe, thou shalt conceiue in thy wobe, and beare a sonne, and shalt call his name Iesus.
Siehe, du wirst empfangen und einen Sohn gebären, und du sollst ihm den Namen Jesus geben.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Sonne of the most High, and the Lord God shall giue vnto him the throne of his father Dauid.
Er wird groß sein und Sohn des Allerhöchsten heißen; Gott, der Herr, wird ihm den Thron seines Vaters David geben,
33 And hee shall reigne ouer the house of Iacob for euer, and of his kingdome shall bee none ende. (aiōn g165)
und er wird herrschen über das Haus Jakob in Ewigkeit, und seines Reiches wird kein Ende sein." (aiōn g165)
34 Then sayde Marie vnto the Angel, How shall this be, seeing I knowe not man?
Maria sprach zum Engel: "Wie soll das geschehen, da ich keinen Mann erkenne?"
35 And the Angel answered, and said vnto her, The holy Ghost shall come vpon thee, and the power of the most High shall ouershadowe thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall bee borne of thee, shall be called the Sonne of God.
Der Engel aber sprach zu ihr: "Der Heilige Geist wird auf dich herabkommen, und die Kraft des Allerhöchsten wird dich überschatten. Darum wird auch das Heilige, das geboren wird, Sohn Gottes heißen.
36 And behold, thy cousin Elisabet, she hath also conceiued a sonne in her olde age: and this is her sixt moneth, which was called barren.
Siehe, auch deine Base Elisabeth hat in ihrem Alter einen Sohn empfangen, und dies ist schon der sechste Monat bei ihr, die für unfruchtbar gehalten wird.
37 For with God shall nothing be vnpossible.
Bei Gott ist nichts unmöglich."
38 Then Marie said, Behold the seruant of the Lord: be it vnto me according to thy woorde. So the Angel departed from her.
Da sprach Maria: "Siehe, ich bin die Magd des Herrn; mir geschehe nach deinem Wort." Und der Engel schied von ihr.
39 And Marie arose in those daies, and went into ye hil countrey with hast to a citie of Iuda,
In jenen Tagen machte sich Maria auf und eilte ins Gebirge nach einer Stadt in Juda.
40 And entred into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabet.
Und sie betrat das Haus des Zacharias und grüßte Elisabeth.
41 And it came to passe, as Elisabet heard the salutation of Marie, the babe sprang in her bellie, and Elisabet was filled with the holy Ghost.
Sobald Elisabeth den Gruß Marias vernahm, frohlockte das Kind in ihrem Schoße. Da ward Elisabeth vom Heiligen Geiste erfüllt
42 And she cried with a loud voice, and saide, Blessed art thou among women, because the fruit of thy wombe is blessed.
und rief mit lauter Stimme: "Du bist gebenedeit unter den Weibern, und gebenedeit ist die Frucht deines Leibes.
43 And whence commeth this to mee, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Womit habe ich verdient, daß die Mutter meines Herrn zu mir kommt?
44 For loe, assoone as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine eares, the babe sprang in my bellie for ioye,
Denn siehe, sobald der Klang deines Grußes mein Ohr berührte, frohlockte jubelnd das Kind in meinem Schoße.
45 And blessed is shee that beleeued: for those things shall be perfourmed, which were tolde her from the Lord.
Selig, die geglaubt hat, daß das in Erfüllung gehen werde, was ihr vom Herrn gesagt ward."
46 Then Marie sayde, My soule magnifieth the Lord,
Da sprach Maria: "Hoch preist meine Seele den Herrn,
47 And my spirite reioyceth in God my Sauiour.
mein Geist frohlockt in Gott, meinem Heiland,
48 For hee hath looked on the poore degree of his seruaunt: for beholde, from henceforth shall all ages call me blessed,
weil er die Demut seiner Magd geschaut; denn siehe, fortan preisen mich selig alle Geschlechter.
49 Because hee that is mightie, hath done for me great things, and holy is his Name.
Denn Großes hat an mir getan der Mächtige; und heilig ist sein Name.
50 And his mercie is from generation to generation on them that feare him.
Und sein Erbarmen waltet von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht für jene, die ihn fürchten.
51 Hee hath shewed strength with his arme: hee hath scattered the proude in the imagination of their hearts.
Er wirket Mächtiges mit seinem Arm; zerstreut, die stolz in ihrem Herzen denken.
52 Hee hath put downe the mighty from their seates, and exalted them of lowe degree.
Herab stürzt er Gewalthaber von Thronen und erhöht Niedrige;
53 Hee hath filled the hungrie with good things, and sent away the rich emptie.
mit Gütern sättigt er die Darbenden; doch Reiche läßt er leer ausgehen.
54 Hee hath vpholden Israel his seruaunt to be mindefull of his mercie
Er hat sich angenommen Israels, seines Knechtes, in der Erinnerung an sein Erbarmen -
denn so verhieß er's unsern Vätern schon - mit Abraham und seinem Stamm auf ewig." (aiōn g165)
56 And Marie abode with her about three moneths: after, shee returned to her owne house.
Maria blieb etwa drei Monate bei ihr. Dann kehrte sie in ihr Haus zurück.
57 Nowe Elisabets time was fulfilled, that shee should be deliuered, and shee brought foorth a sonne.
Es kam nun für Elisabeth die Zeit der Niederkunft, und sie gebar einen Sohn.
58 And her neighbours, and cousins heard tell howe the Lord had shewed his great mercie vpon her, and they reioyced with her.
Als ihre Nachbarn und Verwandten hörten, daß ihr der Herr so großes Erbarmen gezeigt hatte, da freuten sie sich mit ihr.
59 And it was so that on the eight day they came to circumcise the babe, and called him Zacharias after the name of his father.
Am achten Tage kamen sie, um das Kind zu beschneiden, und wollten ihm den Namen seines Vaters Zacharias geben.
60 But his mother answered, and saide, Not so, but he shalbe called Iohn.
Doch seine Mutter sprach: "Nein, Johannes soll es heißen."
61 And they saide vnto her, There is none of thy kindred, that is named with this name.
Man sprach zu ihr: "In deiner Verwandtschaft ist doch niemand, der diesen Namen trägt."
62 Then they made signes to his father, howe he would haue him called.
Nun winkten sie dem Vater, wie er es genannt wissen wolle.
63 So hee asked for writing tables, and wrote, saying, His name is Iohn, and they marueiled all.
Er verlangte eine Schreibtafel und schrieb die Worte darauf: "Johannes ist sein Name." Da staunten alle.
64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue, and he spake and praised God.
Im selben Augenblick ward sein Mund geöffnet, und seine Zunge ward gelöst; er konnte wieder reden und pries Gott.
65 Then feare came on all them that dwelt neere vnto them, and all these woordes were noised abroade throughout all the hill countrey of Iudea.
Da kam Furcht über alle Nachbarn, und im Gebirge von Judäa sprach man überall von allen diesen Dingen.
66 And al they that heard them, laid them vp in their hearts, saying, What maner childe shall this be! and the hand of the Lord was with him.
Und alle, die sie hörten, erwogen sie in ihrem Herzen; sie sagten: "Was mag aus diesem Kinde werden?" Und wirklich war die Hand des Herrn mit ihm.
67 Then his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
Sein Vater Zacharias aber ward vom Heiligen Geist erfüllt und sprach wie ein Prophet:
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, because he hath visited and redeemed his people,
"Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Gott Israels; heimgesucht hat er sein Volk und ihm Erlösung bereitet,
69 And hath raised vp the horne of saluation vnto vs, in the house of his seruant Dauid,
ein Horn des Heils uns aufgerichtet im Hause Davids, seines Knechtes,
70 As he spake by ye mouth of his holy Prophets, which were since the world began, saying, (aiōn g165)
wie er verheißen hat von alters her durch seiner heiligen Propheten Mund; (aiōn g165)
71 That he would sende vs deliuerance from our enemies, and from the hands of all that hate vs,
von unsern Feinden uns zu retten, aus der Hand all derer, die uns hassen;
72 That he might shewe mercie towards our fathers, and remember his holy couenant,
Barmherzigkeit unsern Vätern zu erweisen und seines heiligen Bundes zu gedenken,
73 And the othe which he sware to our father Abraham.
des Eides, den er unserm Vater Abraham geschworen: Er wolle uns verleihen,
74 Which was, that he would graunt vnto vs, that we being deliuered out of the handes of our enemies, should serue him without feare,
daß wir aus unserer Feinde Hand errettet,
75 All the daies of our life, in holinesse and righteousnesse before him.
ihm furchtlos dienen in Heiligkeit und Gerechtigkeit dank seiner Gnade alle Tage unsres Lebens.
76 And thou, babe, shalt be called the Prophet of the most High: for thou shalt goe before the face of the Lord, to prepare his waies,
Und du, Kind, wirst ein Prophet des Höchsten heißen; denn du wirst vor dem Herrn einhergehen, ihm seine Wege zu bereiten,
77 And to giue knowledge of saluation vnto his people, by the remission of their sinnes,
um sein Volk zur Erkenntnis zu führen, daß das Heil in der Vergebung seiner Sünden liege
78 Through ye tender mercy of our God, wherby the day spring from an hie hath visited vs,
dank des herzlichen Erbarmens unsres Gottes, womit uns heimgesucht das Licht aus der Höhe,
79 To giue light to them that sit in darknes, and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feete into the way of peace.
um denen aufzuleuchten, die in Finsternis und Todesschatten sitzen, und unsre Schritte auf des Friedens Pfad zu lenken."
80 And the childe grewe, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the wildernesse, til the day came that he should shewe him selfe vnto Israel.
Der Knabe wuchs und ward stark im Geiste. Er lebte in der Einsamkeit bis zu dem Tage, da er Israel sich zeigen sollte.
