Luke 8
1 And it came to passe afterwarde, that hee himselfe went through euery citie and towne, preaching and publishing the kingdome of God, and the twelue were with him,
Ensuite, Jésus allait de ville en ville et de village en village, prêchant et annonçant la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu;
2 And certaine women, which were healed of euill spirites, and infirmities, as Mary which was called Magdalene, out of whom went seuen deuils,
et les Douze étaient avec lui. Il y avait aussi avec eux quelques femmes, qui avaient été délivrées de malins esprits ou guéries de leurs maladies: Marie appelée Madeleine, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons,
3 And Ioanna the wife of Chuza Herods steward, and Susanna, and many other which ministred vnto him of their substance.
Jeanne, femme de Chuzas, intendant d'Hérode, Suzanne et plusieurs autres, qui les assistaient de leurs biens.
4 Nowe when much people were gathered together, and were come vnto him out of all cities, he spake by a parable.
Comme une grande foule s'était rassemblée, et qu'on venait à lui de toutes les villes, Jésus leur dit en parabole:
5 A sower went out to sowe his seede, and as he sowed, some fell by the wayes side, and it was troden vnder feete, and the foules of heauen deuoured it vp.
Le semeur sortit pour semer. Et comme il jetait sa semence, il en tomba une partie le long du chemin; elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent toute.
6 And some fell on the stones, and when it was sprong vp, it withered away, because it lacked moystnesse.
Une autre partie tomba sur un sol pierreux; quand elle fut levée, elle sécha, parce qu'elle n'avait point d'humidité.
7 And some fell among thornes, and the thornes sprang vp with it, and choked it.
Une autre partie tomba parmi les épines; les épines poussèrent avec la semence et l'étouffèrent.
8 And some fell on good ground, and sprang vp, and bare fruite, an hundreth folde. And as hee sayd these things, he cryed, He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
Une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre; elle leva et produisit du fruit, cent pour un. En disant ces choses, il s'écriait: Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende!
9 Then his disciples asked him, demaunding what parable that was.
Ses disciples lui demandèrent ce que signifiait cette parabole.
10 And he sayd, Vnto you it is giuen to know the secrets of ye kingdome of God, but to other in parables, that when they see, they shoulde not see, and when they heare, they should not vnderstand.
Il répondit: Il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume de Dieu; mais, aux autres, tout est présenté en forme de paraboles, de sorte qu'en voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'en entendant, ils ne comprennent point.
11 The parable is this, The seede is the worde of God.
Voici donc ce que signifie cette parabole: La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
12 And they that are beside the way, are they that heare: afterward commeth the deuill, and taketh away the worde out of their hearts, least they should beleeue, and be saued.
Ceux qui la reçoivent le long du chemin, ce sont ceux qui l'ont entendue; mais ensuite vient le Diable qui enlève cette parole de leur coeur, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
13 But they that are on the stones, are they which when they haue heard, receiue ye word with ioy: but they haue no rootes: which for a while beleeue, but in the time of tentation goe away.
Ceux qui la reçoivent sur le sol pierreux, ce sont ceux qui, entendant la parole, la reçoivent avec joie; mais ils n'ont point de racine, ils ne croient que pour un temps; et, quand l'épreuve survient, ils se retirent.
14 And that which fell among thornes, are they which haue heard, and after their departure are choked with cares and with riches, and voluptuous liuing, and bring forth no fruite.
Ce qui est tombé parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont entendu la parole, mais qui s'en vont et la laissent étouffer par les soucis, les richesses et les plaisirs de cette vie, de sorte qu'ils ne portent pas de fruit qui vienne à maturité.
15 But that which fell in good ground, are they which with an honest and good heart heare the worde, and keepe it, and bring forth fruite with patience.
Mais ce qui tombe dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole avec un coeur honnête et bon, la retiennent et portent du fruit avec persévérance.
16 No man when he hath lighted a candle, couereth it vnder a vessell, neither putteth it vnder the bed, but setteth it on a candlesticke, that they that enter in, may see the light.
Il n'est personne qui, après avoir allumé une lampe, la couvre d'un boisseau ou la mette sous un lit. Au contraire, on la place sur un support, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be euident: neither any thing hid, that shall not be knowen, and come to light.
En effet, il n'y a rien de secret qui ne doive être manifesté, ni rien de caché qui ne doive être connu et mis en évidence.
18 Take heede therefore how ye heare: for whosoeuer hath, to him shall be giuen: and whosoeuer hath not, from him shalbe taken euen that which it seemeth that he hath.
Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez; car on donnera à celui qui a, mais à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir.
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come neere to him for the preasse.
Sa mère et ses frères vinrent le trouver; mais ils ne pouvaient l'aborder à cause de la foule.
20 And it was tolde him by certaine which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, and would see thee.
On vint donc lui dire: Ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui désirent te voir.
21 But he answered, and sayd vnto them, My mother and my brethren are these which heare the worde of God, and doe it.
Mais il répondit: Ma mère et mes frères, ce sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la mettent en pratique!
22 And it came to passe on a certaine day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he sayd vnto them, Let vs goe ouer vnto the other side of the lake. And they lanched forth.
Un jour, il entra dans une barque avec ses disciples, et il leur dit: Passons de l'autre côté du lac; et ils partirent.
23 And as they sayled, he fell a sleepe, and there came downe a storme of winde on the lake, and they were filled with water, and were in ieopardie.
Comme ils voguaient, Jésus s'endormit. Un tourbillon de vent vint s'abattre sur le lac; la barque se remplissait d'eau et ils étaient en danger.
24 Then they went to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. And he arose, and rebuked the winde, and the waues of water: and they ceased, and it was calme.
Alors ils vinrent à lui, et le réveillèrent en lui disant: Maître, Maître, nous périssons! Mais lui, s'étant réveillé, imposa silence au vent et aux flots, qui s'apaisèrent, et il se fit un grand calme.
25 Then he sayde vnto them, Where is your fayth? and they feared, and wondered among them selues, saying, Who is this that commandeth both the windes and water, and they obey him!
Il leur dit alors: Où est votre foi? Et, saisis de crainte et d'admiration, ils se disaient entre eux: Quel est donc celui-ci? Il commande même aux vents et aux flots, et ils lui obéissent!
26 So they sailed vnto the region of the Gadarenes, which is ouer against Galile.
Ils abordèrent ensuite au pays des Géraséniens, qui est vis-à-vis de la Galilée.
27 And as he went out to land, there met him a certaine man out of the citie, which had deuils long time, and he ware no garment, neither abode in house, but in the graues.
Et quand Jésus fut descendu à terre, il vint au devant de lui un homme de la ville, qui était possédé de plusieurs démons. Depuis fort longtemps il ne portait pas de vêtement, et il ne demeurait pas dans une maison, mais dans les tombeaux.
28 And when he sawe Iesus, he cryed out and fell downe before him, and with a loude voyce sayd, What haue I to doe with thee, Iesus the Sonne of God the most High? I beseech thee torment me not.
Dès qu'il vit Jésus, il poussa un grand cri, et, se jetant à ses pieds, il dit d'une voix forte: Qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu très haut? Je t'en supplie ne me tourmente pas!
29 For he commanded ye foule spirit to come out of the man: (for oft times he had caught him: therefore he was bound with chaines, and kept in fetters: but he brake the bands, and was caried of the deuill into wildernesses.)
En effet, l'esprit impur venait de recevoir de Jésus l'ordre de sortir de cet homme, dont il s'était rendu maître depuis longtemps; et, bien qu'on gardât le malade, lié de chaînes et les fers aux pieds, il rompait ses liens et était emporté par le démon dans les déserts.
30 Then Iesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? and he sayd, Legion, because many deuils were entred into him.
Jésus lui demanda: Quel est ton nom? Il répondit: Légion! Car plusieurs démons étaient entrés en lui.
Et ils suppliaient Jésus de ne pas leur commander d'aller dans l'abîme. (Abyssos g12)
32 And there was there by, an hearde of many swine, feeding on an hill: and the deuils besought him, that he would suffer them to enter into them. So he suffered them.
Or, il y avait là un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient dans la montagne. Les démons supplièrent Jésus de leur permettre d'entrer dans ces pourceaux; et il le leur permit.
33 Then went the deuils out of the man, and entred into the swine: and the hearde was caried with violence from a steepe downe place into the lake, and was choked.
Etant donc sortis de cet homme ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux; le troupeau se précipita dans le lac, du haut de la falaise, et il s'y noya.
34 When the heardmen sawe what was done, they fled: and when they were departed, they tolde it in the citie and in the countrey.
Ceux qui le faisaient paître, voyant ce qui était arrivé, s'enfuirent et répandirent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
35 Then they came out to see what was done, and came to Iesus, and found the man, out of whom the deuils were departed, sitting at the feete of Iesus, clothed, and in his right minde: and they were afrayd.
Alors les gens sortirent pour voir ce qui s'était passé; et, quand ils furent arrivés auprès de Jésus, ils trouvèrent l'homme, de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis aux pieds de Jésus, habillé et dans son bon sens; et ils furent saisis de crainte.
36 They also which saw it, tolde them by what meanes he that was possessed with the deuill, was healed.
Les témoins de l'événement leur racontèrent comment le démoniaque avait été délivré.
37 Then the whole multitude of the countrey about the Gadarenes, besought him that he would depart from them: for they were taken with a great feare: and he went into the ship, and returned.
Tous les habitants de la contrée des Géraséniens prièrent Jésus de se retirer de chez eux; car ils étaient saisis d'une grande frayeur. Il entra donc dans la barque pour s'en retourner.
38 Then the man, out of whome the deuils were departed, besought him that hee might be with him: but Iesus sent him away, saying,
Et l'homme, de qui les démons étaient sortis, lui demandait la permission de rester avec lui; mais Jésus le renvoya, en disant:
39 Returne into thine owne house, and shewe what great things God hath done to thee. So hee went his way, and preached throughout all the citie, what great things Iesus had done vnto him.
Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi. Il s'en alla donc, publiant par toute la ville tout ce que Jésus lui avait fait.
40 And it came to passe, when Iesus was come againe, that the people receiued him: for they all waited for him.
A son retour, Jésus fut reçu par la foule; car tous l'attendaient.
41 And beholde, there came a man named Iairus, and he was the ruler of the Synagogue, who fell downe at Iesus feete, and besought him that he would come into his house.
Et il vint un homme appelé Jaïrus, qui était chef de la synagogue. Il se jeta aux pieds de Jésus, en le priant de venir dans sa maison,
42 For he had but a daughter onely, about twelue yeeres of age, and she lay a dying (and as he went, the people thronged him.
parce qu'il avait une fille unique, âgée de douze ans, qui se mourait. Pendant que Jésus s'y rendait, la foule le pressait de tous côtés.
43 And a woman hauing an yssue of blood, twelue yeeres long, which had spent all her substance vpon physicians, and could not be healed of any:
Alors une femme, qui avait une perte de sang depuis douze ans et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans avoir pu être guérie par aucun,
44 When she came behind him, she touched the hemme of his garment, and immediatly her yssue of blood stanched.
s'approcha de lui par derrière et toucha le bord de son vêtement; et à l'instant, sa perte de sang s'arrêta.
45 Then Iesus sayd, Who is it that hath touched me? When euery man denied, Peter sayd and they that were with him, Master, the multitude thrust thee, and tread on thee, and sayest thou, Who hath touched me?
Alors Jésus dit: Qui m'a touché? Comme tous s'en défendaient, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui, répondirent: Maître, la foule t'environne et te presse!
46 And Iesus sayde, Some one hath touched me: for I perceiue that vertue is gone out of me.
Jésus reprit: Quelqu'un m'a touché; car j'ai senti qu'une force est sortie de moi.
47 When the woman sawe that she was not hid, she came trembling, and fell downe before him, and tolde him before all the people, for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediatly.
La femme, voyant qu'elle n'avait pu rester cachée, vint toute tremblante se jeter à ses pieds; et elle expliqua, devant tout le peuple, pourquoi elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été immédiatement guérie.
48 And he said vnto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath saued thee: go in peace.)
Jésus lui dit: Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée; va en paix.
49 While he yet spake, there came one from the ruler of the Synagogues house, which sayde to him, Thy daughter is dead: disease not the Master.
Comme il parlait encore, quelqu'un vint de la maison du chef de la synagogue et dit à ce dernier: Ta fille est morte; n'importune plus le Maître.
50 When Iesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Feare not: beleeue onely, and she shall be saued.
Mais Jésus, l'ayant entendu, dit à Jaïrus: Ne crains point! Crois seulement, et elle sera sauvée.
51 And when he went into the house, he suffered no man to goe in with him, saue Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and the father and mother of the maide.
Quand il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa entrer avec lui que Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et le père et la mère de l'enfant.
52 And all wept, and sorowed for her: but he sayd, Weepe not: for she is not dead, but sleepeth.
Tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle. Alors Jésus dit: Ne pleurez pas; elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.
53 And they laught him to scorne, knowing that she was dead.
Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant qu'elle était morte.
54 So he thrust them all out, and tooke her by the hand, and cryed, saying, Maide, arise.
Mais Jésus la prit par la main, et dit à haute voix: Mon enfant, lève-toi!
55 And her spirite came againe, and she rose straightway: and he comanded to giue her meate.
Alors l'esprit lui revint; elle se leva à l'instant, et il commanda de lui donner à manger.
56 Then her parents were astonied: but hee commanded them that they should tell no man what was done.
Ses parents furent saisis d'étonnement; mais il leur défendit de dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
