Luke 24
1 Nowe the first day of the weeke early in the morning, they came vnto the sepulchre, and brought the odours, which they had prepared, and certaine women with them.
Le premier jour de la semaine, de très grand matin, elles vinrent au tombeau, apportant les aromates qu'elles avaient préparés.
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre,
Elles trouvèrent que la pierre avait été roulée loin de l'ouverture du tombeau;
3 And went in, but found not the body of the Lord Iesus.
mais, étant entrées, elles ne trouvèrent point le corps du Seigneur Jésus.
4 And it came to passe, that as they were amased thereat, beholde, two men suddenly stood by them in shining vestures.
Elles ne savaient qu'en penser, lorsque deux hommes parurent devant elles, en vêtements brillants comme l'éclair.
5 And as they were afraide, and bowed downe their faces to the earth, they sayd to them, Why seeke ye him that liueth, among the dead?
Et comme elles étaient saisies de frayeur et baissaient le visage vers la terre, ils leur dirent: Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant?
6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake vnto you, when he was yet in Galile,
Il n'est pas ici, mais il est ressuscité. Souvenez-vous de quelle manière il vous a parlé, lorsqu'il était encore en Galilée,
7 Saying, that the sonne of man must be deliuered into the hands of sinfull men, and be crucified, and the third day rise againe.
et qu'il disait: Il faut que le Fils de l'homme soit livré entre les mains des pécheurs, qu'il soit crucifié et qu'il ressuscite le troisième jour.
8 And they remembred his wordes,
Alors elles se souvinrent des paroles de Jésus.
9 And returned from the sepulchre, and tolde all these things vnto the eleuen, and to all the remnant.
Quand elles furent de retour du tombeau, elles annoncèrent toutes ces choses aux Onze et à tous les autres.
10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, and Ioanna, and Mary the mother of Iames, and other women with them, which tolde these things vnto the Apostles.
C'étaient Marie-Madeleine, Jeanne, Marie, mère de Jacques; et les autres femmes, qui étaient avec elles, disaient les mêmes choses aux apôtres.
11 But their wordes seemed vnto them, as a fained thing, neither beleeued they them.
Mais ces paroles leur firent l'effet d'une rêverie, et ils ne les crurent point.
12 Then arose Peter, and ran vnto the sepulchre, and looked in, and saw the linnen clothes laide by themselues, and departed wondering in himselfe at that which was come to passe.
Cependant, Pierre se leva et courut au tombeau; et, s'étant baissé pour regarder, il ne vit que les linges qui étaient à terre; puis, il s'en alla chez lui, tout surpris de ce qui était arrivé.
13 And beholde, two of them went that same day to a towne which was from Hierusalem about threescore furlongs, called Emmaus.
Ce même jour, deux des disciples allaient à un village, appelé Emmaüs, qui était à soixante stades de Jérusalem;
14 And they talked together of al these things that were done.
et ils s'entretenaient de tout ce qui s'était passé.
15 And it came to passe, as they communed together, and reasoned, that Iesus himselfe drewe neere, and went with them.
Or il arriva, comme ils s'entretenaient et discutaient ensemble, que Jésus lui-même s'approcha et se mit à marcher avec eux.
16 But their eyes were holden, that they could not know him.
Mais leurs yeux étaient privés du pouvoir de le reconnaître.
17 And he sayd vnto them, What maner of communications are these that ye haue one to another as ye walke and are sad?
Il leur dit: Quelles sont les paroles que vous échangez ainsi l'un avec l'autre, chemin faisant? Et ils s'arrêtèrent tout tristes.
18 And the one (named Cleopas) answered, and sayd vnto him, Art thou onely a stranger in Hierusalem, and hast not knowen the things which are come to passe therein in these dayes?
L'un d'eux, nommé Cléopas, lui répondit: Es-tu le seul étranger à Jérusalem, qui ne sache pas ce qui s'y est passé ces jours-ci?
19 And he said vnto them, What things? And they sayd vnto him, Of Iesus of Nazareth, which was a Prophet, mightie in deede and in word before God, and all people,
— Quoi donc? leur demanda-t-il. Ils lui répondirent: Ce qui est arrivé à Jésus de Nazareth, qui était un prophète puissant en oeuvres et en paroles, aux yeux de Dieu et de tout le peuple;
20 And howe the hie Priests, and our rulers deliuered him to be condemned to death, and haue crucified him.
comment les principaux sacrificateurs et nos magistrats l'ont livré pour être condamné à mort, et l'ont crucifié.
21 But we trusted that it had bene he that should haue deliuered Israel, and as touching all these things, to day is ye third day, that they were done.
Pour nous, nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël; mais, avec tout cela, voici le troisième jour que ces choses sont arrivées.
22 Yea, and certaine women among vs made vs astonied, which came early vnto the sepulchre.
Il est vrai que quelques femmes, qui sont des nôtres, nous ont fort étonnés. Elles sont allées de grand matin au tombeau;
23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seene a vision of Angels, which sayd, that he was aliue.
puis, n'ayant pas trouvé son corps, elles sont venues nous dire que des anges leur sont apparus et leur ont déclaré qu'il était vivant.
24 Therefore certaine of them which were with vs, went to the sepulchre, and found it euen so as the women had sayd, but him they saw not.
Quelques-uns des nôtres se sont aussi rendus au tombeau, et ils ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes l'avaient dit; mais lui, ils ne l'ont pas vu.
25 Then he sayd vnto them, O fooles and slowe of heart to beleeue all that the Prophets haue spoken!
Alors Jésus leur dit: gens sans intelligence et d'un coeur lent à croire tout ce qu'ont annoncé les prophètes!
26 Ought not Christ to haue suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît ces choses pour qu'il entrât dans sa gloire?
27 And he began at Moses, and at all the Prophets, and interpreted vnto them in all the Scriptures the things which were written of him.
Puis, commençant par Moïse et continuant par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua, dans toutes les Écritures, ce qui le concernait.
28 And they drew neere vnto ye towne, which they went to, but he made as though hee would haue gone further.
Quand ils se trouvèrent près du village où ils se rendaient, Jésus semblait vouloir aller plus loin.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with vs: for it is towards night, and the day is farre spent. So he went in to tarie with them.
Mais ils l'obligèrent à s'arrêter, en disant: Reste avec nous; car le soir approche, et le jour est déjà sur son déclin. Il entra donc pour rester avec eux.
30 And it came to passe, as hee sate at table with them, he tooke the bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gaue it to them.
Comme il était à table avec eux, il prit le pain, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit et le leur donna.
31 Then their eyes were opened, and they knewe him: and he was no more seene of them.
Alors leurs yeux s'ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent; mais lui se déroba à leur vue.
32 And they saide betweene themselues, Did not our heartes burne within vs, while he talked with vs by the way, and when he opened to vs the Scriptures?
Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Notre coeur ne brûlait-il pas au-dedans de nous, lorsqu'il nous parlait en chemin et nous expliquait les Écritures?
33 And they rose vp the same houre, and returned to Hierusalem, and found the Eleuen gathered together, and them that were with them,
Se levant à l'heure même, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, et ils trouvèrent les Onze et d'autres disciples assemblés avec eux,
34 Which said, The Lord is risen in deede, and hath appeared to Simon.
qui leur dirent: Le Seigneur est vraiment ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon.
35 Then they tolde what things were done in the way, and howe he was knowen of them in breaking of bread.
Eux, à leur tour, racontèrent ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin, et comment ils l'avaient reconnu lorsqu'il avait rompu le pain.
36 And as they spake these things, Iesus himselfe stoode in the middes of them, and saide vnto them, Peace be to you.
Comme ils parlaient ainsi, Jésus lui-même se présenta au milieu d'eux et leur dit: La paix soit avec vous!
37 But they were abashed and afraide, supposing that they had seene a spirit.
Mais eux, saisis de stupeur et d'effroi, croyaient voir un esprit.
38 Then he saide vnto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore doe doutes arise in your hearts?
Il leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés, et pourquoi de telles pensées s'élèvent-elles dans vos coeurs?
39 Beholde mine handes and my feete: for it is I my selfe: handle me, and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me haue.
Voyez mes mains et mes pieds: c'est moi-même. Touchez-moi et regardez: un esprit n'a ni chair ni os, ce que j'ai, comme vous le voyez.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and feete.
En disant cela, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.
41 And while they yet beleeued not for ioy, and wondred, he saide vnto them, Haue ye here any meate?
Mais comme, dans leur joie, ils ne croyaient pas encore, et comme ils étaient remplis d'étonnement, il leur dit: Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger?
42 And they gaue him a piece of a broyled fish, and of an honie combe,
Ils lui présentèrent un morceau de poisson grillé.
43 And hee tooke it, and did eate before them.
Il le prit et le mangea en leur présence.
44 And he saide vnto them, These are the wordes, which I spake vnto you while I was yet with you, that all must be fulfilled which are written of me in the Lawe of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalmes.
Puis il leur dit: Voilà ce que je vous déclarais, quand j'étais encore avec vous, et quand je vous disais qu'il fallait que fût accompli tout ce qui est écrit à mon sujet dans la loi de Moïse, dans les prophètes et dans les psaumes.
45 Then opened he their vnderstanding, that they might vnderstand the Scriptures,
Alors il leur ouvrit l'esprit pour leur faire comprendre les Écritures.
46 And said vnto them, Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer, and to rise againe from the dead the third day,
Et il leur dit: C'est ainsi qu'il est écrit que le Christ devait souffrir, qu'il ressusciterait des morts le troisième jour,
47 And that repentance, and remission of sinnes should be preached in his Name among all nations, beginning at Hierusalem.
et qu'on prêcherait en son nom la repentance, pour la rémission des péchés, parmi toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem.
48 Nowe ye are witnesses of these things.
Vous êtes témoins de ces choses;
49 And beholde, I doe sende the promise of my Father vpon you: but tary ye in the citie of Hierusalem, vntill ye be endued with power from an hie.
et moi, je vais vous envoyer ce que mon Père vous a promis. Quant à vous, demeurez dans la Ville, jusqu'à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la puissance d'en haut.
50 Afterward he lead them out into Bethania, and lift vp his hands, and blessed them.
Il les emmena ensuite jusqu'aux environs de Béthanie, et, levant ses mains, il les bénit.
51 And it came to passe, that as he blessed them, he departed from them, and was caried vp into heauen.
Pendant qu'il les bénissait, il se sépara d'eux et fut élevé au ciel.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Hierusalem with great ioy,
Eux, l'ayant adoré, s'en retournèrent à Jérusalem, pleins d'une grande joie.
53 And were continually in the Temple, praysing, and lauding God, Amen.
Ils se tenaient continuellement dans le temple, bénissant Dieu.
