Luke 15
1 Then resorted vnto him all the Publicanes and sinners, to heare him.
Tous les publicains et les pécheurs s’approchaient de Jésus pour l’entendre.
2 Therefore the Pharises and Scribes murmured, saying, Hee receiueth sinners, and eateth with them.
Et les Pharisiens et les scribes murmuraient, disant: « Cet homme accueille des pécheurs et mange avec eux. »
3 Then spake hee this parable to them, saying,
Sur quoi il leur dit cette parabole:
4 What man of you hauing an hundreth sheepe, if hee lose one of them, doeth not leaue ninetie and nine in the wildernesse, and goe after that which is lost, vntill he finde it?
« Qui d’entre vous, ayant cent brebis, s’il en perd une, ne laisse les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans le désert, pour aller après celle qui est perdue, jusqu’à ce qu’il l’ait retrouvée?
5 And when he hath found it, he laieth it on his shoulders with ioye.
Et quand il l’a retrouvée, il la met avec joie sur ses épaules;
6 And when he commeth home, he calleth together his friendes and neighbours, saying vnto them, Reioyce with mee: for I haue founde my sheepe which was lost.
et, de retour à la maison, il assemble ses amis et ses voisins et leur dit: Réjouissez-vous avec moi, parce que j’ai trouvé ma brebis qui était perdue.
7 I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen for one sinner that conuerteth, more then for ninetie and nine iust men, which neede none amendment of life.
Ainsi, je vous le dis, il y aura plus de joie dans le ciel pour un seul pécheur qui se repent, que pour quatre-vingt-dix-neuf justes qui n’ont pas besoin de repentir.
8 Either what woman hauing ten groates, if she lose one groate, doth not light a candle, and sweepe the house, and seeke diligently till shee finde it?
Ou bien quelle est la femme qui, ayant dix drachmes, si elle en perd une, n’allume une lampe, ne balaie sa maison, et ne cherche avec soin jusqu’à ce qu’elle l’ait retrouvée?
9 And when shee hath found it, shee calleth her friendes, and neighbours, saying, Reioyce with me: for I haue found the groate which I had lost.
Et quand elle l’a retrouvée, elle assemble ses amies et ses voisines et leur dit: Réjouissez-vous avec moi, parce que j’ai retrouvé la drachme que j’avais perdue.
10 Likewise I say vnto you, there is ioy in the presence of the Angels of God, for one sinner that conuerteth.
Ainsi, je vous le dis, il y a de la joie devant les anges de Dieu pour un seul pécheur qui se repent. »
11 He sayde moreouer, A certaine man had two sonnes.
Il dit encore: « Un homme avait deux fils.
12 And the yonger of them sayde to his father, Father, giue mee the portion of the goods that falleth to mee. So he deuided vnto them his substance.
Le plus jeune dit à son père: Mon père, donne-moi la part du bien qui doit me revenir. Et le père leur partagea son bien.
13 So not many daies after, when the yonger sonne had gathered all together, hee tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there hee wasted his goods with riotous liuing.
Peu de jours après, le plus jeune fils ayant rassemblé tout ce qu’il avait, partit pour un pays lointain, et il y dissipa son bien en vivant dans la débauche.
14 Nowe when hee had spent all, there arose a great dearth throughout that land, and he began to be in necessitie.
Lorsqu’il eut tout dépensé, une grande famine survint dans ce pays, et il commença à sentir le besoin.
15 Then hee went and claue to a citizen of that conntrey, and hee sent him to his farme, to feede swine.
S’en allant donc, il se mit au service d’un habitant du pays, qui l’envoya à sa maison des champs pour garder les pourceaux.
16 And hee would faine haue filled his bellie with the huskes, that the swine ate: but no man gaue them him.
Il eût bien voulu se rassasier des gousses que mangeaient les pourceaux, mais personne ne lui en donnait.
17 Then he came to him selfe, and said, Howe many hired seruaunts at my fathers haue bread ynough, and I die for hunger?
Alors, rentrant en lui-même, il dit: Combien de mercenaires de mon père ont du pain en abondance, et moi, je meurs ici de faim!
18 I wil rise and goe to my father, and say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heaue, and before thee,
Je me lèverai et j’irai à mon père, et je lui dirai: Mon père, j’ai péché contre le ciel et envers toi;
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants.
je ne mérite plus d’être appelé ton fils: traite-moi comme l’un de tes mercenaires.
20 So hee arose and came to his father, and when hee was yet a great way off, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ranne and fell on his necke, and kissed him.
Et il se leva et il alla vers son père. Comme il était encore loin, son père le vit, et, tout ému, il accourut, se jeta à son cou, et le couvrit de baisers.
21 And the sonne sayde vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and before thee, and am no more worthie to be called thy sonne.
Son fils lui dit: Mon père, j’ai péché contre le ciel et envers toi; je ne mérite plus d’être appelé ton fils.
22 Then the father said to his seruaunts, Bring foorth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feete,
Mais le père dit à ses serviteurs: Apportez la plus belle robe et l’en revêtez; mettez-lui un anneau au doigt et des souliers aux pieds.
23 And bring the fat calfe, and kill him, and let vs eate, and be merie:
Amenez aussi le veau gras et tuez-le; faisons un festin de réjouissance:
24 For this my sonne was dead, and is aliue againe: and he was lost, but he is found. And they began to be merie.
car mon fils que voici était mort, et il est revenu à la vie; il était perdu, et il est retrouvé. Et ils se mirent à faire fête.
25 Nowe the elder brother was in the fielde, and when he came and drewe neere to the house, he heard melodie, and dauncing,
Or, le fils aîné était dans les champs; comme il revenait et approchait de la maison, il entendit de la musique et des danses.
26 And called one of his seruaunts, and asked what those things meant.
Appelant un des serviteurs, il lui demanda ce que c’était.
27 And hee sayde vnto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatte calfe, because he hath receiued him safe and sound.
Le serviteur lui dit: Votre frère est arrivé, et votre père a tué le veau gras, parce qu’il l’a recouvré sain et sauf.
28 Then he was angry, and would not goe in: therefore came his father out and entreated him.
Mais il se mit en colère, et ne voulut pas entrer. Le père sortit donc, et se mit à le prier.
29 But he answered and said to his father, Loe, these many yeeres haue I done thee seruice, neither brake I at any time thy commadement, and yet thou neuer gauest mee a kidde that I might make merie with my friends.
Il répondit à son père: Voilà tant d’années que je te sers, sans avoir jamais transgressé tes ordres, et jamais tu ne m’as donné, à moi, un chevreau pour festoyer avec mes amis.
30 But when this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy good with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calfe.
Et quand cet autre fils, qui a dévoré ton bien avec des courtisanes, arrive, tu tues pour lui le veau gras!
31 And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine.
Le père lui dit: Toi, mon fils, tu es toujours avec moi, et tout ce que j’ai est à toi.
32 It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.
Mais il fallait bien faire un festin et se réjouir, parce que ton frère que voilà était mort, et qu’il est revenu à la vie; il était perdu, et il est retrouvé. »
