Leviticus 21
1 And the Lord said vnto Moses, Speake vnto the Priestes the sonnes of Aaron, and say vnto them, Let none be defiled by the dead among his people,
Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse: Parle aux Prêtres, fils d'Aaron, et leur dis: Nul ne se mettra pour un mort en état d'impureté dans son peuple,
2 But by his kinseman that is neere vnto him: to wit, by his mother, or by his father, or by his sonne, or by his daughter, or by his brother,
excepté pour les plus proches parents du même sang que lui, pour sa mère ou son père, ou son fils ou sa fille, ou son frère,
3 Or by his sister a maid, that is neere vnto him, which hath not had a husband: for her he may lament.
ou pour sa sœur vierge qui est avec lui, et n'a pas encore un mari: pour celle-ci il pourra se mettre en état d'impureté.
4 He shall not lament for the Prince among his people, to pollute him selfe.
Comme mari il ne doit pas se mettre en état d'impureté dans son peuple pour se profaner.
5 They shall not make balde partes vpon their head, nor shaue off the locks of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
Ils ne se raseront point la tête, ne se couperont point les coins de la barbe et ne se feront sur le corps point d'incisions.
6 They shalbe holy vnto their God, and not pollute the name of their God: for the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God they doe offer: therefore they shalbe holie.
Ils seront saints en vue de leur Dieu, et ne profaneront pas le nom de leur Dieu, car ils offrent les sacrifices ignés de l'Éternel, l'aliment de leur Dieu; qu'ils soient donc en état de sainteté.
7 They shall not take to wife an whore, or one polluted, neither shall they marrie a woman diuorced from her husband: for such one is holy vnto his God.
Ils n'épouseront ni une prostituée, ni une femme déshonorée, ils n'épouseront pas non plus une femme répudiée par son mari, car ils sont consacrés à leur Dieu.
8 Thou shalt sanctifie him therefore, for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy vnto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctifie you, am holy.
Maintiens-les donc dans l'état de sainteté, car ils présentent le pain de leur Dieu; qu'ils soient sacrés pour toi, car je suis Saint, moi l'Éternel qui veux vous rendre saints.
9 If a Priestes daughter fall to play the whore, she polluteth her father: therefore shall she be burnt with fire.
Et la fille d'un personnage sacerdotal qui se met à être impudique, profane son père; elle sera brûlée au feu.
10 Also ye hie Priest among his brethren, (vpon whose head the anointing oyle was powred, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments) shall not vncouer his head, nor rent his clothes,
Et le Prêtre qui a la prééminence sur ses frères, qui a reçu sur sa tête l'effusion de l'huile d'onction, qui à son installation a été revêtu du costume, ne doit ni laisser sa tête échevelée ni déchirer ses vêtements,
11 Neither shall he goe to any dead bodie, nor make him selfe vncleane by his father or by his mother,
et il ne s'approchera d'aucun mort; même pour un père ou une mère il ne se mettra pas en état d'impureté.
12 Neither shall he goe out of the Sanctuarie, nor pollute the holy place of his God: for the crowne of the anoynting oyle of his God is vpon him: I am the Lord.
Et il ne sortira pas du Sanctuaire, afin de ne pas profaner le Sanctuaire de son Dieu, car il porte la consécration de l'huile d'onction de son Dieu. Je suis l'Éternel.
13 Also he shall take a maide vnto his wife:
Il prendra une femme qui ait sa virginité,
14 But a widowe, or a diuorced woman, or a polluted, or an harlot, these shall he not marrie, but shall take a maide of his owne people to wife:
et il n'épousera ni une veuve, ni une femme répudiée ou déshonorée ou impudique: mais il choisira une vierge dans son peuple.
15 Neyther shall he defile his seede among his people: for I am the Lord which sanctifie him.
Et il ne profanera point sa race au milieu de son peuple; car je suis l'Éternel qui le consacre.
16 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse et dit: Parle à Aaron en ces termes:
17 Speake vnto Aaron, and say, Whosoeuer of thy seede in their generations hath any blemishes, shall not prease to offer the bread of his God:
Aucun de tes descendants dans tes générations, qui aura un défaut corporel, ne s'approchera pour présenter le pain de son Dieu;
18 For whosoeuer hath any blemish, shall not come neere: as a man blinde or lame, or that hath a flat nose, or that hath any misshapen member,
l'accès est interdit à tout homme affligé d'un défaut corporel, qui sera ou aveugle ou boiteux ou camus ou disproportionné,
19 Or a man that hath a broken foote, or a broken hande,
ou qui aura une fracture à un pied ou à une main,
20 Or is crooke backt, or bleare eyed, or hath a blemish in his eye, or be skiruie, or skabbed, or haue his stones broken.
ou qui sera bossu ou grêle, ou qui aura une tache blanche à l'œil, ou la gale ou la teigne, ou les testicules écrasés.
21 None of the seede of Aaron the Priest that hath a blemish, shall come neere to offer the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire, hauing a blemish: he shall not prease to offer the bread of his God.
Aucun des descendants du Prêtre Aaron, qui aura un défaut corporel, ne sera admis à offrir les sacrifices ignés à l'Éternel; il a un défaut, il ne saurait avoir accès pour présenter le pain de son Dieu.
22 The bread of his God, euen of the most holie, and of the holy shall he eate:
Il pourra manger l'aliment de son Dieu, des choses sacro-saintes et des choses saintes.
23 But he shall not goe in vnto the vaile, nor come neere the altar, because hee hath a blemish, least he pollute my Sanctuaries: for I am the Lord that sanctifie them.
Seulement il ne s'approchera ni du rideau, ni de l'Autel, parce qu'il a un défaut, afin qu'il ne profane pas mes Sanctuaires, car je suis l'Éternel qui les consacre.
24 Thus spake Moses vnto Aaron, and to his sonnes, and to all the children of Israel.
Et Moïse parla à Aaron et à ses fils et à tous les enfants d'Israël.
