Leviticus 19

1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:

2 Speake vnto all the Congregation of the children of Israel, and say vnto them, Ye shalbe holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

Parle à toute la synagogue des fils d'Israël, dis-lui: Soyez saints, parce que je suis saint, moi, le Seigneur votre Dieu.

3 Yee shall feare euery man his mother and his father, and shall keepe my Sabbaths: for I am the Lord your God.

Que chacun craigne son père et sa mère; observe mes sabbats: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

4 Ye shall not turne vnto idoles, nor make you molten gods: I am the Lord your God.

Vous ne vous attacherez point aux idoles, vous ne vous ferez pas des dieux de métal fondu: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

5 And when yee shall offer a peace offering vnto the Lord, ye shall offer it freely.

Lorsque vous offrirez au Seigneur une hostie pacifique, c'est de votre meilleur que vous sacrifierez.

6 It shall be eaten the day yee offer it, or on the morowe: and that which remaineth vntill the third day, shalbe burnt in the fire.

L'hostie sera mangée le jour où vous l'offrirez et le lendemain; s'il en reste le troisième jour, consumez-la par le feu.

7 For if it be eaten the third day, it shall be vncleane, it shall not be accepted.

Si l'on en mange le troisième jour, le sacrifice est nul et ne sera pas accepté.

8 Therefore he that eateth it, shall beare his iniquitie, because he hath defiled the halowed thing of the Lord, and that person shalbe cut off from his people.

Celui qui en mangera se rendra coupable de péché, parce qu'il aura profané les choses saintes du Seigneur; et les âmes qui en auront mangé, seront exterminées parmi le peuple.

9 When yee reape the haruest of your land, ye shall not reape euery corner of your field, neither shalt thou gather the glainings of thy haruest.

Lorsque vous moissonnerez en votre terre, vous n'achèverez pas strictement votre moisson, vous ne recueillerez point les épis tombés ça et là.

10 Thou shalt not gather the grapes of thy vineyarde cleane, neyther gather euery grape of thy vineyarde, but thou shalt leaue them for the poore and for the straunger: I am the Lord your God.

Vous ne revendangerez point vos vignes, vous ne recueillerez pas les grains tombés, vous les laisserez pour le pauvre et pour l'étranger: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

11 Ye shall not steale, neither deale falsely, neither lie one to another.

Vous ne volerez point, vous ne mentirez point, nul ne calomniera son prochain.

12 Also yee shall not sweare by my name falsely, neither shalt thou defile the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

Vous ne jurerez pas injustement par mon nom, vous ne souillerez pas le nom saint du Seigneur votre Dieu: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

13 Thou shalt not do thy neighbour wrong, neither rob him. The workemans hire shall not abide with thee vntil the morning.

Tu ne feras point tort à ton prochain, tu ne voleras point; le salaire du journalier ne demeurera pas chez toi jusqu'au lendemain matin.

14 Thou shalt not curse the deafe, neither put a stumbling blocke before the blinde, but shalt feare thy God: I am the Lord.

Tu ne maudiras point le sourd et ne mettras point de pierre d'achoppement devant l'aveugle, et tu craindras le Seigneur ton Dieu: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

15 Ye shall not doe vniustly in iudgement. Thou shalt not fauour the person of the poore, nor honour the person of the mightie, but thou shalt iudge thy neighbour iustly.

Vous ne commettrez point d'injustice dans le jugement; tu ne feras point acception de personne en faveur du mendiant; tu ne craindras pas la face du puissant; tu jugeras ton prochain selon la justice.

16 Thou shalt not walke about with tales among thy people. Thou shalt not stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the Lord.

Tu ne marcheras point dans la ruse au milieu de ton peuple; tu ne machineras point contre le sang de ton prochain: je suis le Seigneur ton Dieu.

17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart, but thou shalt plainely rebuke thy neighbour, and suffer him not to sinne.

Tu ne haïras point ton frère au fond du cœur; tu réprimanderas ton prochain, et tu ne te rendras point, à cause de lui, coupable de péché.

18 Thou shalt not auenge, nor be mindful of wrong against ye childre of thy people, but shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe: I am the Lord.

Ta main n'exercera pas la vengeance; tu ne t'irriteras point contre les enfants de ton peuple; tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même: je suis le Seigneur.

19 Yee shall keepe mine ordinances. Thou shalt not let thy cattel gender with others of diuers kindes. Thou shalt not sowe thy fielde with mingled seede, neyther shall a garment of diuers thinges, as of linen and wollen come vpon thee.

Vous observerez ma loi; tu ne feras pas saillir tes bêtes par des bestiaux d'une autre espèce; tu ne sèmeras pas diverses graines dans ta vigne; tu ne porteras pas de vêtements tissus de deux fils disparates.

20 Whosoeuer also lyeth and medleth with a woman that is a bonde mayde, affianced to a husband, and not redeemed, nor freedome giuen her, she shalbe scourged, but they shall not die, because she is not made free.

Si un homme a commerce avec une femme, et que cette femme soit une servante réservée à un homme; si elle n'est ni racheté ni affranchie, ils seront visités et punis; mais ils ne seront point mis à mort, parce que la femme n'a pas été affranchie.

21 And he shall bring for his trespasse offring vnto the Lord, at the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, a ramme for a trespasse offering.

L'homme amènera au Seigneur, pour son délit, un bélier devant la porte du tabernacle du témoignage.

22 Then the Priest shall make an atonement for him with the ramme of the trespasse offering before the Lord, concerning his sinne which he hath done, and pardon shalbe giuen him for his sinne which he hath committed.

Et le prêtre priera devant le Seigneur en sacrifiant le bélier du péché, pour le péché que l'homme a commis, et son péché lui sera remis.

23 Also when ye shall come into the land, and haue planted euery tree for meate, ye shall count the fruite thereof as vncircumcised: three yeere shall it be vncircumcised vnto you, it shall not be eaten:

Lorsque vous serez entrés en la terre que le Seigneur votre Dieu vous donne, et que vous y aurez planté toutes sortes d'arbres fruitiers, et que vous les aurez émondés tout autour, leurs fruits pendant trois ans seront impurs pour vous; on ne les mangera point.

24 But in the fourth yere all the fruite thereof shalbe holy to the praise of the Lord.

Et, en la quatrième année, tous les fruits seront saints; ils seront fruits d'actions de grâces et appartiendront au Seigneur.

25 And in the fifth yeere shall ye eate of the fruite of it that it may yeelde to you the encrease thereof: I am the Lord your God.

Et, en la cinquième année, vous mangerez des fruits; tout ce que l'arbre produira sera à vous: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

26 Ye shall not eat the flesh with the blood, ye shall not vse witchcraft, nor obserue times.

Vous ne mangerez pas sur les hauts lieux; vous n'userez ni des augures ni des auspices.

27 Ye shall not cut rounde the corners of your heades, neither shalt thou marre the tuftes of thy beard.

Vous ne couperez pas en rond votre chevelure, vous laisserez votre barbe croître naturellement sous le menton.

28 Ye shall not cut your flesh for the dead, nor make any print of a marke vpon you: I am the Lord,

Vous ne ferez point d'incisions sur votre corps à l'occasion d'un mort, vous ne pointillerez point de caractères sur votre peau: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

29 Thou shalt not make thy daughter common, to cause her to be a whore, least the lande also fall to whoredome, and the lande bee full of wickednesse.

Tu ne profaneras point ta fille par la prostitution, et la terre ne sera point souillée, autrement elle serait remplie de dérèglements.

30 Ye shall keepe my Sabbaths and reuerence my Sanctuarie: I am the Lord.

Vous observerez mes sabbats, vous révèrerez mon sanctuaire: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

31 Ye shall not regarde them that worke with spirites, neither soothsayers: ye shall not seeke to them to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Vous ne suivrez ni ventriloques ni enchanteurs, vous seriez souillés par eux: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

32 Thou shalt rise vp before the horehead, and honour the person of the old man, and dread thy God: I am the Lord.

Tu te lèveras devant les cheveux blancs, tu honoreras le vieillard, et tu craindras ton Dieu: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

33 And if a stranger soiourne with thee in your lande, ye shall not vexe him.

Si quelque étranger vient s'établir dans votre terre, vous ne l'opprimerez point.

34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you, shalbe as one of your selues, and thou shalt loue him as thy selfe: for ye were strangers in the lad of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

L'étranger qui viendra parmi vous sera comme un indigent; et lu l'aimeras comme toi-même, car tu as été étranger en la terre d'Egypte: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.

35 Ye shall not doe vniustly in iudgement, in line, in weight, or in measure.

Tu ne feras pas d'injustice dans tes jugements, dans tes mesures, tes poids et tes balances.

36 You shall haue iust ballances, true weightes, a true Ephah, and a true Hin. I am the Lord your God, which haue brought you out of the lande of Egypt.

Vous aurez des balances et des poids justes, et d'équitables mesures: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu qui vous ai tirés de la terre d'Egypte.

37 Therefore shall ye obserue all mine ordinances, and all my iudgements, and doe them: I am the Lord.

Et vous observerez toutes mes lois et tous mes préceptes, vous les exécuterez: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
