Leviticus 17
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
2 Speake vnto Aaron, and to his sonnes, and to all the children of Israel, and say vnto them, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, saying,
Parle à Aaron et à ses fils, et à tous les enfants d’Israël, et tu leur diras: Voici ce que l’Éternel a ordonné.
3 Whosoeuer he be of the house of Israel that killeth a bullocke, or lambe, or goate in the hoste, or that killeth it out of the hoste,
Si un homme de la maison d’Israël égorge dans le camp ou hors du camp un bœuf, un agneau ou une chèvre,
4 And bringeth it not vnto the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation to offer an offring vnto the Lord before the Tabernacle of the Lord, blood shalbe imputed vnto that man: he hath shed blood, wherefore that man shall be cut off from among his people.
et ne l’amène pas à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation, pour en faire une offrande à l’Éternel devant le tabernacle de l’Éternel, le sang sera imputé à cet homme; il a répandu le sang, cet homme-là sera retranché du milieu de son peuple.
5 Therefore the children of Israel shall bring their offrings, which they would offer abroad in the fielde, and present the vnto ye Lord at the doore of the Tabernacle of ye Congregation by ye Priest, and offer them for peace offrings vnto the Lord.
C’est afin que les enfants d’Israël, au lieu de sacrifier leurs victimes dans les champs, les amènent au sacrificateur, devant l’Éternel, à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation, et qu’ils les offrent à l’Éternel en sacrifices d’actions de grâces.
6 Then the Priest shall sprinkle the blood vpon the Altar of the Lord before the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and burne the fat for a sweete sauour vnto the Lord.
Le sacrificateur en répandra le sang sur l’autel de l’Éternel, à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation; et il brûlera la graisse, qui sera d’une agréable odeur à l’Éternel.
7 And they shall no more offer their offerings vnto deuils, after whom they haue gone a whoring: this shalbe an ordinance for euer vnto them in their generations.
Ils n’offriront plus leurs sacrifices aux boucs, avec lesquels ils se prostituent. Ce sera une loi perpétuelle pour eux et pour leurs descendants.
8 Also thou shalt say vnto them, whosoeuer he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which soiourne among them, that offreth a burnt offring or sacrifice,
Tu leur diras donc: Si un homme de la maison d’Israël ou des étrangers qui séjournent au milieu d’eux offre un holocauste ou une victime,
9 And bringeth it not vnto ye doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation to offer it vnto the Lord, euen that man shall be cut off from his people.
et ne l’amène pas à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation, pour l’offrir en sacrifice à l’Éternel, cet homme-là sera retranché de son peuple.
10 Likewise whosoeuer he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that soiourne among them, that eateth any blood, I will euen set my face against that person that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
Si un homme de la maison d’Israël ou des étrangers qui séjournent au milieu d’eux mange du sang d’une espèce quelconque, je tournerai ma face contre celui qui mange le sang, et je le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple.
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I haue giuen it vnto you to offer vpon the altar, to make an atonement for your soules: for this blood shall make an atonement for the soule.
Car l’âme de la chair est dans le sang. Je vous l’ai donné sur l’autel, afin qu’il servît d’expiation pour vos âmes, car c’est par l’âme que le sang fait l’expiation.
12 Therefore I saide vnto ye children of Israel, None of you shall eate blood: neither the stranger that soiourneth among you, shall eate blood.
C’est pourquoi j’ai dit aux enfants d’Israël: Personne d’entre vous ne mangera du sang, et l’étranger qui séjourne au milieu de vous ne mangera pas du sang.
13 Moreouer whosoeuer he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that soiourne among the, which by hunting taketh any beast or foule that may be eaten, he shall powre out the blood thereof, and couer it with dust:
Si quelqu’un des enfants d’Israël ou des étrangers qui séjournent au milieu d’eux prend à la chasse un animal ou un oiseau qui se mange, il en versera le sang et le couvrira de poussière.
14 For ye life of all flesh is his blood, it is ioyned with his life: therefore I sayd vnto the children of Israel, Ye shall eate the blood of no flesh: for the life of al flesh is the blood thereof: whosoeuer eateth it, shalbe cut off.
Car l’âme de toute chair, c’est son sang, qui est en elle. C’est pourquoi j’ai dit aux enfants d’Israël: Vous ne mangerez le sang d’aucune chair; car l’âme de toute chair, c’est son sang: quiconque en mangera sera retranché.
15 And euery person that eateth it which dyeth alone, or that which is torne with beastes, whether it be one of the same countrey or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and wash himselfe in water, and be vncleane vnto the euen: after he shalbe cleane.
Toute personne, indigène ou étrangère, qui mangera d’une bête morte ou déchirée, lavera ses vêtements, se lavera dans l’eau, et sera impure jusqu’au soir; puis elle sera pure.
16 But if he wash them not, nor wash his flesh, then he shall beare his iniquitie.
Si elle ne lave pas ses vêtements, et ne lave pas son corps, elle portera la peine de sa faute.
